We Will Try To Make England Series Happen On Indian Grounds: Sourav Ganguly

Despite the worsening coronavirus situation in India with the rapid rise in cases, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is hopeful that the England series to be played in India early next year as per the originally scheduled.## The England team is scheduled to travel to India for five Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is, to be played between January and March. However, there have been some reports of the England series being played in the UAE where the ongoing season of the IPL is happening due to the covid-19 situation in India. ## However, BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly has reiterated the board's priority to host England early next year in India. ## "The priority is to make this (series against England) happen in India. We will try to make this happen on Indian grounds. The advantage in the UAE is they have three stadiums (Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai)", Sourav Ganguly said as stated by Cricbuzz. ## The intensify situation of covid-19 has already forced the Indian domestic season to postpone which should have been started by now. However, Ganguly said that the board continues to work on trying to 'make it happen as much as we can'.## "We are monitoring it (covid-19 situation). We want to have our domestic season. We have all the combinations, situations ready in our minds. We will try and make it happen as much as we can".## "Everything is fluid. It's been hard for the last six months to keep everything in order. You want your cricket to happen. You want lives to get back to normal, there are players involved. But you also want to have a close look at the Covid situation", he added.## Meanwhile, India is at the second number in terms of the coronavirus cases in the world, only behind the USA. As per the official numbers, over 60 lakh positive cases and over 95,000 deaths due to the virus have been recorded. ## Stay tuned...

I Never Blamed Anushka Sharma Nor Made Sexist Comment: Sunil Gavaskar Clarifies

Former India opener and legendary Sunil Gavaskar, clarifying his comments on Virat Kohli's performance in the Indian Premier League clash against Kings XI Punjab, said he had never blamed Anushka Sharma nor made a sexist remark on her.## The incident took place on Friday during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab where Sunny G was reacting on a viral video in which Virat and Anushka are seen playing cricket during the lockdown period.## Sunny Gavaskar said after watching the video that because of the lockdown, Virat only got to the practice of Anushka bowling that he didn't get a chance to do proper practice in lockdown. He was discussing the video with his co-commentator, Akash Chopra. ## Anushka, however, reacted on his remark and wrote on an Instagram story, "That, Mr. Gavaskar, your message is distasteful is a fact but I would love for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her of her husband's game? I'm sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game. ## Now, the legendary cricketer has clarified that he didn't blame and disrespect her. Speaking to India Today, Gavaskar was quoted as saying, "Firstly, I would like to say it again. Where am I blaming her? I am not blaming her. I am only saying that the video said that she was bowling to Virat. Virat has played only that bowling during the lockdown period. It's a tennis ball, a fun game that people have to pass time during the lockdown. That's all. Where am I blaming her for Virat's failures?"## He further stated that he has always supported that wives going with husbands on tour. "You know me, I am the one who has always batted for wives going with husbands on tour. I am the one that a normal guy going to the office for a 9-5 job, when he comes back home, he comes back to his wife. Similarly, cricketers, when they go out for a tour or even when they are playing at home, why can't they have their wives with them?"## "Because after their working hours are over, they have to get back to their wives like every other common man does. So I am not blaming her", he further said.## The match, however, didn't go well for Virat and his team against KXIP. The India skipper first dropped KL Rahul twice, who went on to score a century, in the KXIP innings and he only scored one with the bat before he was removed by Sheldon Cottrell. RCB went on to lose their second match of IPL 2020 by 97 runs.## Stay tuned...

The Opening Dream 11 IPL 2020 Match Between CSK And MI Sets New Viewership Record In The World

The Dream 11 Indian Premier League was kicked start on September 19 as Chennai Super Kings took on Mumbai Indians. The MS Dhoni-led CSK emereged as victorious as three times champions defeated defending champions by 5 wickets in a thrilling finish. ## Since the IPL 2020 is being played without crowd due to the covid-19 pandemic, it was expected that that crowds will watch the tournament on television and broadcasters were also assuming the highest rating of IPL this season. ## And now, the viewership result of the opening match between CSK and MI is probably higher than what broadcasters were hoping for.## As per the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) report, an unprecedented 200 million people tuned in to watch the tournament opener which is the highest ever opening day viewership for any sporting league in any country. ## The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to his official Twitter handle and shared the viewership record which includes the viewership both on Star Sports India and Disney+Hostart VIP. ## Total viewership on @StarSportsIndia and @DisneyPlusHS.@starindia @ThakurArunS @BCCI— Jay Shah (@JayShah) September 22, 2020 ## The IPL is one of the most watched sports tournaments in the world while it is most watched cricket league in the world. Virendra Sehwag Criticizes Umpiring After KXIP Lost To Delhi Capitals In Super Over

On the second day on the row of Dream 11 IPL 2020, the match went to the wire with Delhi Capitals defeated Kings XI Punjab in a super over. For Delhi Capitals, Marcus Stoinis showed his brilliance with both bat and ball and awarded man of the match. He scored a quickfire 53 off 21 balls and took 2 wickets to take the game into the super over. ## However, former team India opener, Virendra Sehwag has questioned the match result while criticizing the umpire's decision in the short run. Actually, Mayank Agarwal took 2 runs off the third ball of the 18th over. One of them was called short by the umpire. Only one run was added to this ball, however, the replay showed that it was a complete run. ## Taking to Twitter, Sehwag wrote, "I don’t agree with the man of the match choice. The umpire who gave this short run should have been man of the match. Short Run nahin tha. And that was the difference. #DCvKXIP".## I don’t agree with the man of the match choice . And that was the difference. #DCvKXIP pic.twitter.com/7u7KKJXCLb— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) September 20, 2020 ## Due to that short run, KXIP's team could score 157 runs in response to 157 runs. If the second run was not declared short, then the Punjab team would have scored 158 runs. Then there is no need to go to the Super over for the match result and the Punjab team would have been the winner.## Stay tuned...

MS Dhoni Teases Match Referee Manu Nayyar On Social Distancing Norms; Sam Curran Surprised By Dhoni's Move

After a long hurdle, the 13th season of the much-awaited Dream 11 Indian Premier League was kicked-off yesterday with Chennai Super Kings took on Mumbai Indians at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.## Despite being played in completely different circumstances, the tournament opener was nothing sort of a thriller just like the previous CSK vs MI matches as the 3-times champions Chennai defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 5-wickets with just 4 balls to spare. ## However, one of the moments of the day came just before the start of the play when the Chennai skipper brought out his humorous one-liner against the Match Referee Manu Nayyar. The skipper also applauded his team members for keeping themselves fit during the quarantine period in the UAE. ## "Wanted to know if we can have a slip (considering the social distancing norms under the current circumstances)", Dhoni said at the Toss. "Have the liberty during lockdown to spend time on yourself to keep fit. Have to applaud every member of the squad. The first six days in quarantine is very difficult. Felt each individual used that time well and nobody was disappointed or frustrated", he added. ## Another moment came during the match which proved to be a turning point. Sam Curran, who was picked ahead of Dwayne Bravo for the match and played a match-turning cameo of 18 runs off 6 balls which proved as crucial as Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis's fifties in CSK's win. ## However, it was surprised move by MS Dhoni to send Curran ahead of him, as described by Curran after the match. "To be honest, I was very surprised when Jadeja got out for me to go ahead of MS Dhoni. It was a big shock to me but he (Dhoni) is a genius and thought something (about sending me before himself). The plan was obviously to go out there, have a go at them if it comes off", Curran said after the match. ## ICYMI, it was MS Dhoni's first match after the semi-final of the World Cup, 2019 against New Zealand which was on the 9th of July 2019. He had also announced his retirement from international cricket recently. ## Stay tuned...

"Crowds Are An Amazing Part Of The Game, But This IPL, We're Playing To Bring Smiles Back On People's Faces": Virat Kohli

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League is just about the corner to kick-off with Chennai Super Kings will be taking on the defending champions, Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener tomorrow (September 19) at 7:30 PM in Abu Dhabi. ## However, this year, there will be a lot of things different as compared to the previous seasons of the IPL all because of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. This year, there will be no crowd to cheer the players in the ground as all be watching the tournament from their homes on the TV screens. ## The different circumstances are going to be challenging for the players. However, despite IPL 2020 set to be played behind closed doors in the UAE, the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli foresaw no drop in his playing intensity. ## "The intensity and passion won't drop even if there are no crowds," Kohli said at a media session to launch Royal Challengers covid warriors campaign. "Yes, empty stadiums will give us a strange feeling, and I won't deny it'll not be different when we walk out. But the feeling has changed a little after many training sessions and practice matches".## Virat Kohli admitted that the crowds are an amazing part of the game but this time, they will be playing for bigger reasons to bring back smiles on the faces who have suffered due to the pandemic.## Dream XI IPL 2020: Check Out The Complete And Team Wise Schedule Of The Tournament## "You understand why you started playing - because you love the game. This is a chance for us to play with that feeling with the entire country watching. As long as we're playing for the right reasons, all external factors become irrelevant.## "Yes, crowds are an amazing part of the game but this time, that's not what we're playing for. This time we're playing for a bigger reason. To bring smiles back on people's faces, those who've faced tough times due to the pandemic", Kohli said. ## Royal Challengers Bangalore will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21 in Dubai. RCB is one of the only three teams playing the IPL 2020 that are yet to win an IPL title despite reaching into the final on three occasions. The other two teams who haven't won the title yet are Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals. ## Stay tuned...
