'We used to talk that we should have Raina in the team', Rohit Sharma told Suresh Raina

India's limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma said to Suresh Raina that they often used to talk about him to be in the team for his experience with fielding and bowling. On Tuesday (May 12), Rohit was speaking to Raina in a live chat session on Instagram and expressed his desire that Raina should be back in the national team. ## "I know it is very tough to be out of the team after playing for so many years. We used to talk that we should have Raina in the team in some way. You have the experience and ability with bowling and fielding.## "I feel that we have seen you play for such a long time, somewhere I feel that somehow or the other you should be back in the team. But then we will see, we make do with what we have in our hands," Rohit Sharma told Suresh Raina.## Suresh Raina who hasn't played an international match since 2018, remains hopeful for his team India comeback and believes that he still has a lot of cricket left in him. He also felt that they got a lot of support when we're young and need the same kind of support at this stage also. ## "I had an injury and a surgery which was a big reason why I lost my place. I still have a lot of cricket left in me. Selection is not in our hands, performances are. I have always enjoyed my cricket and the big players always backed us when we were young. So that is what we need, someone to support us and show the way."## The duo of Rohit and Raina also spoke about MS Dhoni's possibility of making a comeback in the team again. Raina said that MS Dhoni was batting well and striking the ball really well in the practice before the coronavirus pandemic hit India and brought a halt to all cricket activities. ## "I saw him and he was batting so well, he is fit. Only he knows what he is planning but as far as his skills go he was good. Now that the lockdown is here, I don't really know what his plans are. He has a lot of cricket in him and he was batting so well there," Raina said.## "If that is the case, he should play. I hope he starts playing again," Rohit said.## "Yes but only he knows, whenever he becomes available people should ask him what his plans are," Raina added.## FYI, since India lost to New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup last year, MS Dhoni has not played any kind of cricket after that. He himself opted out from the matches that were played after the World Cup. ## Stay tuned...

AB de Villiers compares Virat Kohli and Steve Smith with tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

There has always been a debate about who is a better player between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith at present? Well, former South African captain AB de Villiers who himself has been a legend compares Virat Kohli and Steve Smith with the tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. For him, Virat Kohli's natural talent of striking the ball makes him a cricketing equivalent of Roger Federer while Steve Smith's ability to dealing with mental pressure matches with Rafael Nadal. ## In a live chat on Instagram with former Zimbabwe pacer Pommie Mbangwa, AB de Villiers said, "It's a difficult one, but Virat is definitely the more natural ball-striker, there''s no doubt about that," de Villiers said during his interaction on "Sports Hurricane".## "In tennis terms, I'd say he's more like a (Roger) Federer whereas Smith is like a (Rafael) Nadal. Smith is mentally very strong and figures out a way of scoring runs - he doesn't look natural, but he ends up writing records and doing amazing things at the crease."## "I think mentally, Smith is one of the best I have ever seen. Virat has also scored runs all over the world and won games under pressure," de Villiers said.## While talking about Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers felt that Virat Kohli is ahead of his former teammate Sachin Tendulkar when it comes to chasing. ## "Sachin is a role model for both of us (him and Kohli). The way he stood out in his era, the things he achieved, and with the grace, he did all that is a great example for everyone. And I think Virat will also say that he set the standards for us to follow", de Villiers said.## "But personally, in a chase, I'd say Virat is the best I've seen in my life. Sachin was amazing in all formats and all situations, but Virat comes out on top while chasing."## Stay tuned...

'He didn't speak to me', Suresh Raina hits back at MSK Prasad

Suresh Raina has hit back at the former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad who recently said that it was Suresh Raina's poor form that axed the player from the team India. He also said that he spoke to Raina about the future roadmap to comeback in the team and the player was agreed to his plan. ## Speaking to PTI, MSK Prasad had said, ā€œSee VVS Laxman, when he was dropped from the Indian Test squad in 1999, he forced himself back by scoring over 1400 runs in domestic cricket. This is what is expected from senior players when they are dropped,ā€ ## ā€œI had personally spoken to Raina calling him to my room and explained him the roadmap for his future comebacks. He had, back then, appreciated my efforts,ā€ Prasad had said.## However, Suresh Raina in a live chat session with Irfan Pathan on Saturday has hit back at MSK Prasad and said he never spoke to him at all. ## ā€œMSK Prasad said that I under-performed and also stated that he spoke to me about my axing, but he didn’t speak to me at all. When my time comes, I will play", Raina said during a chat with Irfan Pathan. ## It has been almost two years since Suresh Raina played his last international match. It was an ODI match against England at Headingley, Leeds on July 17, 2018. However, Raina couldn't make an impact as he scored only 1 run in that match before axing from the team. ## Stay tuned...

Suresh Raina: Players like him, should be allowed to play in foreign leagues

Suresh Raina has said that BCCI should give permission to non-contracted players to play in at least two foreign leagues. During a live chat session on Instagram with Irfan Pathan, Raina has said that players like himself, Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa, and others how don't have a central contract should be allowed to participate in foreign T20 leagues. ## As of now, Indian players have not been issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to participate in any of the foreign leagues. He said that if players are allowed to play in other leagues, it will help them stay fit and hone their skills further.## "I wish BCCI plans something with ICC or the franchises... whichever player is not with a BCCI contract should be allowed to play in foreign T20 leagues. Because I feel they're a lot of players like that - including Yusuf Pathan, myself, Robin Uthappa... There are many quality players who can go abroad and learn a lot of things, whichever league that is in. Allow us to play in two leagues, where we go, play, and the BCCI themselves say 'you go play there'," Raina said. ## Raina restates that IPL is the only option for non-contracted players. If they failed to perform there then there is no 'Plan B' for them. He also said that many foreign players make their comebacks in their national team by performing well in overseas leagues. ## "If we play competitive cricket in three months, whether that's Big Bash League or CPL... anything that makes us feel we're ready. If you see overseas players all play, and then they make comebacks for their country. We play IPL, and there's a big pool of players so if they [franchises] feel we're not good, then there's no plan B for us. If we go abroad, perform there and stay fit and play well, then our cricket will also improve and we'll get to learn a lot," he added.## Irfan Pathan also seemed to agree with Suresh Raina as he felt that BCCI is not considering 30 years and above players to play in the national team. ## "My suggestion is that all the players who are 30-years-old and not in the radar to play international cricket, BCCI should allow them to play in foreign leagues," Pathan said. ## Suresh Raina, who is the first and one of the only three Indian players to have scored a century in all three formats, has played 226 ODIs, 18 Tests, and 76 T20Is for team India. Apart from international cricket, Raina has been a regular player in IPL for CSK since the tournament introduced in 2008. He is knows as Mr. IPL for his spectacular records in the Indian Premier League. Stay tuned...

'Love playing against Australia' Rohit Sharma is hoping India's tour of Australia goes ahead as per plans

Star batsman and the vice-captain of limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma is hoping that India's tour of Australia later this year goes ahead as par plans. In a live chat session on Instagram with David Warner, Rohit Sharma expressed his desire to play against Australia in Australia. But the coronavirus pandemic has come as a big halt to cricket but Rohit is hoping that situation to get better later the year. ## Already stopped many cricket activities including IPL (as of now), the pandemic has also created a big doubt to the T20I world cup that is scheduled to take place in Australia in October-November, but there have been discussions underway between BCCI and Cricket Australia about finding options to make the tour a possibility. ## "Actually we were quite looking forward to this year's tour as well. I hope somehow both the boards - the Australian and the Indian board they somehow try and manage to do something and get this series underway. It'll be great for the teams as well, but also great for people to start cricket with. It'll be a great series for people to watch. It'll be a great way to kick off cricket in the world if that happens," Rohit said.## In conversation with David Warner, Rohit Sharma said how much he and team India love playing against Australia and what it meant to them when they beat Australia in Australia for the first time when India toured Australia last year. ## "I personally love playing against Australia. Whenever there's an opportunity to play against Australia, it's a different feeling. And last year when we won the series, which has never happened before in the history of Indian cricket, it was good for us as a team. I know you guys (Warner and Smith) were missing but still, what the bowlers did there, what the batters did there was a great boost," he said. ## Talking about IPL that has been postponed indefinitely, Rohit Sharma said that if the situation gets better, then IPL could be played at some stage but said that he is focussing on that Australia tour and hoping it really happens. ## "IPL is likely to happen at some stage as well, but I have no idea about what date or what month it would be. Once everything settles down a little bit there'll be a better idea for us to judge whether the IPL is likely to happen or not but I am really looking forward to that Australian tour. I hope it really happens... in January or February or whenever it is. I really hope that happens. We love coming to Australia, we love playing against you guys," he said. ## FYI, India is scheduled to play 4 Tests, and 3 ODIs series down under in December and January. However, recent strict travel restrictions due to coronavirus pandemic have created uncertainty over the Australia tour. ## Stay tuned...
