Nawazuddin Siddiqui Explains The Advantages Of Movies Releasing On The OTT Platform

While the Coronavirus pandemic is still looming large, the filmmakers have been taking to the over-the-top (OTT) platform to release their movies. Theaters have gone out of the business temporarily and with no clarity when it will open, makers have already started releasing their movies on the digital platform. ## The growing impact of the digital platform has led to a discussion on the advantages of the OTT platform. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui whose 'Raat Akeli Hai' was recently premiered on Netflix, opens up about the same. ## Speaking to a leading portal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, "There is freedom and there is an advantage (of releasing movies) especially with bigger OTT platforms like Netflix. There is an advantage because, when a film made on the budget of Rs 100-150 crore is released in the theatres, it takes over all the screens, even if the movie is shit."## He further said that the lower budget movies that do not get enough shows because of the big-budget movies in theaters, on OTT platform even the low budget movies get same kind of viewership.## "On the other hand, good, low budget films do not get screens and even if they get it will get a show at 11 in the morning or 11 in the night. At least now, if the film is worth Rs 100 crore or Rs 15 crore, when released on Netflix, the viewership will be the same. Now, it all depends on which film is good and what people want to watch. Thank God, because of this platform the film goes across the globe and we have a vast audience".## Nawazuddin Siddiqui's last movie that recently premiered on Netflix is also one of the low budget movies that is receiving a lot of appreciation. Movies And Web Series Airing Military Content Will Have to Get NOC From Ministry Of Defence Now On

After many complaints and objections received from the concerned citizens, the Ministry of Defence has taken a big step against the movies and web series that air military content. From now on, any kind of content on the military will have to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) or clearance from the Ministry of Defence. ## The Ministry of Defence has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Ministry of I&B) to advise production houses to obtain NOC from them before telecasting any film/documentary/web series on army theme in the public domain. The letter was sent by the Ministry of Defence on July 27. ## "In some of the web series like 'Code M' on Zee 5 and 'XXX Uncensored (season-2)' on ALT Balaji, the scenes related to the Army are far from reality and present a distorted image of the Armed Forces," said a senior government official as reported by News 18. ## The step to make obtaining NOC mandatory has been taken after much deliberation. Sources further pointed out that this has been done "to curtail the incidents which distort the image of the defence forces and hurt the sentiments of the defence personnel and veterans", reported News 18.## The military has been very particular about its image and the content projected in different web series or documentaries or movies. Bollywood films on the military go through a mandatory clearance process. The highly acclaimed and one of the most popular Netflix series Sacred Games' third season seems out of the question. Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was hailed for his role in the series and acquired a new level of fame says that there is nothing left in Vikram Chandra's novel that can be put in Season 3.## Speaking to a leading portal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, "Sacred Games got the kind of worldwide acclaim that none of us associated with the series had seen before. I remember shooting in Rome for Tannishta Chatterjee’s film and over there too there were so many people talking to me about Sacred Games. So we all felt it was right to do it again, and we did a second season".## Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, Nawazuddin Siddiqui admits that the second season was a disappointment as the intentions behind it were not sincere. "Perhaps, somewhere the intention behind Season 2 was not as sincere as the first time. I admit Sacred Games 2 was a disappointment", he said. ## As for season 3, the actor said, "Whatever had to be said from the original novel has already been said. There is nothing left in Vikram Chandra’s novel to be put in Season 3".## When asked about his character in Sacred Games and the dialogues were very popular, the actor politely said the credit must go to writers who wrote the dialogues that became famous.## "I can't take credit for the popularity of the lines that I spoke. I didn't write them. In India, we often give credit to the actor for a popular line. In Yash Chopra Saab's Deewaar, Shashi Kapoor Saab spoke the line, 'Mere Paas Maa Hai'. But, it was Salim-Javed who wrote that line. The chairman of the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), Prasoon Joshi recently took to social media and expressed his disagreement with a few scenes in Amazon Prime's new web series 'Rasbhari' which starred Swara Bhaskar in the lead role. ## The web series is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt and written by Shantanu Shrivastava talks about a small-town boy who falls in love with his teacher who is sex-obsessed. She explained the scene that the chairman was referring to and informed him that he was getting it wrong. She said that it was the exact opposite of how he had perceived it. She further added that the small girl is dancing on her own wish and seeing her daughter dancing her father is embarrassed. The dance is not shameful. The girl is just dancing, she doesn’t know that society will sexualize her. Actress Anushka Sharma and the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video got in the fresh trouble after Punjab and Haryana high court issued a notice against them for allegedly defaming Sikh Community in the web series Paatal Lok. The notice of motion was issued to the Union of India and 15 other respondents by the bench of Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi. ## The petitioner has objected the episode number 3 on “A History of Violence” that was set in a village in Punjab. Petitioner-advocate Gurdeepinder Singh Dhillon said, “The respondents have purposely and maliciously within the intent of creating communal disharmony and caste-based clashes have shown two communities in a bad light."## It is not the first time the series got a notice for hurting particular community sentiments, a few days ago, ex MLA of Delhi and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa also raised questions over Paatal Lok and demand for its ban for presenting Sikh Community as rapists. Director and producer Ekta Kapoor's new web series 'Triple X-2' has sparked controversy after some ex-army personnel lodged a complaint in Gurugram's Palam Vihar police station for disrespecting army officers and showing vulgar content.## Raising some strong objection on the web series which is based on the lives of army personnel, Martyrs Welfare Foundation (MWF) chairman Major T.C. Rao said that the producer and director have disrespected shoulders who sacrifice their lives, by showing that army men's wives are intimate with other men when their husbands are away from home serving on the borders.## "This content is highly objectionable and it could demoralize our armed forces. Triple X-2 also has scenes where uniforms of military men, having symbols of Ashoka statue and Taj are torn apart. This is an insult to our armed forces and military personnel," T.C.
