Mumbai, August 28 - It was an excellent weekend (August 25-27) at the Indian box office where regional films performed exceptionally well other than the mainstream films. Punjabi period action drama movie "Mastaney", Malayalam action drama "RDX", Marathi historical drama "Subhedar" and Gujarati comedy drama "3 Ekka" were among the big winners with approximately 26 crores net collection.## Mastaney - Directed by Sharan Art and starring Gurpreet Ghuggi, Tarsem Jassar, Simi Chahal, and Rahul Dev, among others, "Mastaney" had huge opening weekend in India. It scored 9.20 crores net in 3-days, which is the second biggest opening weekend for a Punjabi movie this year. Worldwide, the movie minted over 25 crores gross collection which are blockbuster numbers.## RDX: Robert Dony Xavier - RDX is set to emerge as one of the biggest box office success stories of the year. The Malayalam action drama, starring Antony Varghese, Shane Nigam, and Neeraj Madhav, released against a mighty competitor "King of Kotha" on limited screens. After excellent reviews and WOM, the movie witnessed an explosive growth over the weekend to score around 6.25 crores net collection in 3 days. The 4th day collection (Monday) is set to be on part with Sunday collection and it isn't looking to stop anytime soon. ## Subhedar - Yet another Marathi movie on a Maratha warrior that is conquering the box office. After "Baipan Bhaari Deva", Marathi cinema set to get one more blockbuster in the form of "Subhedar" which scored excellent 5.06 crores net collection in the 3-day opening weekend. It scored the biggest opening for a Marathi movie this year with 1.15 crores net before showing healthy jump over the weekend to post very good weekend collections.## 3 Ekka - Gujarati cinema has success here and there over the last couple of years, and "3 Ekka" set to be one of the biggest Gujarati blockbusters ever. New Delhi, July 23 - Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa's comedy entertainer, "Carry on Jatta 3" has created history and become the first-ever Punjabi-language movie to crores at 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office. ## Smeep Kang's directorial movie reached the 100 crores box office milestone on its 25th day. In India, the film has scored over 54 crores gross so far, the highest of all time for a Punjabi movie, while the overseas collection is a staggering 46 crores (estimated) for 100+ crores worldwide gross. ## "Carry on Jatta 3" has now a lead of over 40 crores from its predecessor which is also the second highest-grossing Indian Punjabi movie of all-time with approx. 58 crores worldwide gross. Meanwhile, COJ3 has also crossed the Pakistani film "The Legend of Maula Jatt" to become the first 100 crores (in INR) and the highest-grossing Punjabi language movie ever. ## Meanwhile, COJ3 is now also the highest-grossing film ever in Punjab state with a gross collection of over 28 crores. Mumbai, July 7 - Punjabi superstar Gippy Grewal's comedy "Carry on Jatta 3" has surpassed the lifetime collection of its predecessor to become the highest-grossing Indian Punjabi movie of all time at the worldwide box office. ## Directed by Smeep Kang, the third installment of the blockbuster franchise took just one week to become the biggest Indian Punjabi language movie. In its extended 8-day opening week, COJ3 grossed approx. 65 crores worldwide, surpassing COJ2's lifetime collection of approx. 58 crores to claim the top rank. ## At the domestic box office, COJ3 has grossed approx. 33 crores (~28 crores net) while the overseas collection is 32 crores (estimated) after the first week. It is now the second biggest Punjabi language film ever after the Pakistani movie "The Legend of Maula Jatt" which grossed around INR 80 crores (estimated). ## COJ3 will be eyeing to become the biggest Punjabi grosser as well as the first Punjabi title to reach 100 crores worldwide gross collection. New Delhi, July 3 - Gippy Grewal's comedy film "Carry on Jatta 3" has had a historic first weekend at the domestic as well as overseas box office. The movie breaks all the records and scored the biggest opening weekend ever for a Punjabi title. ## Directed by Smeep Kang, "Carry on Jatta 3" scored 6 crores net on Sunday, becoming the first Punjabi movie to reach that mark. In fact, the movie's third-day collection of 5.10 crores net is also the first time that a Punjabi movie has touched.## The four days extended opening weekend collections of COJ3 are approx. 19.50 crores net (23 crores gross) which is an all-time record. The film has beaten the blockbuster Hindi films in the Punjab state, which is an exceptional result.## Overseas, COJ3 has grossed approx. $2.80 million (23 crores), including North America which is the top contributor with $1.20K (9.80 crores). The worldwide collection of the movie stands at approx. 46 crores, which is again an all-time record for a Punjabi title in the opening weekend. ## COJ3 is set to become the highest-grossing Indian Punjabi movie, by surpassing its predecessor COJ2 which grossed approx. 58 crores. The movie sold approx. 38K tickets worth 1.02 crores gross in advance for the opening day. ## "Carry On Jatta 3" is the only Punjabi movie of all time to score 1+ crores in advance. The movie passed this box office milestone a week ago and currently stands at $3+ million (24.70 crores). "Chal Mera Putt 2" is the second highest-grosser with $2.8 million, followed by "Honsla Rakh" with $2.7 million.## The movie was released on May 5, and upon its release, it scored the biggest opening weekend for a Punjabi movie in North America with $734K (6 crores) on just 125 screens, with a brilliant $5.75k per-theater average gross. ## The total overseas collection of "Jodi" is an estimated 34 crores gross while the worldwide collection is approx. 47 crores gross. New Delhi, May 8 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's long-awaited period romantic film Jodi finally dropped in theaters this weekend after going through multiple delays. ## A local court of Ludhiana recently stayed the release of the film over copyright claims. It, however, was released as scheduled after the issues were resolved and now, the movie is rocking at the box office, thanks to the rock-solid critics' reviews and positive audience word of mouth.## Written and directed by Amberdeep Singh, "Jodi" had a good opening despite the delayed release and scored around 65 lacs net, before showing a big jump on Saturday and Sunday for a very good weekend total of around 3.35 crores net or around 4 crores gross collection in India. ## Just like most Punjabi movies, "Jodi" struck a big opening weekend overseas with an estimated 8 crores gross collection. In North America, it grossed a huge $734K (6 crores) on just 125 screens, with a brilliant $5.75k per-theater average gross, according to Deadline. ## The worldwide total of the film is around 12 crores gross after the opening weekend, and it is already the second highest-grossing Punjabi movie of the year, behind Blockbuster "Kali Jotta" which grossed over 40 crores worldwide. At the Indian box office, it has minted 32 crores while overseas, "Saunkan Saunkne" scored 20 crores, including approx. 13 crores at the USA and Canada box office. Amid the biggies taking the center stage, the Punjabi movie "Saunkan Saunkne" and Marathi film "Dharmaveer" stood apart and scored blockbuster opening week. ## "Saunkan Saunkne", starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira in the leading roles, scored the second-highest opening week ever for a Punjabi movie with 16.40 crores net. "Shadaa" remains the biggest grosser with approx. 17 crore net. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, "Saunkan Saunkne" started excellently well and scored the biggest opening weekend with 9.65 crores net. The movie held really well over the weekdays, in fact, it was better than Bollywood biggie "Jayeshbhai Jordaar" in the first week, which is a phenomenal achievement for regional film. Overseas, "Saunkan Saunkne" grossed approx. 10.8 crores, pushing the total worldwide gross to excellent 30.10 crores. ## While "Saunkan Saunkne" has had a record-breaking opening week, Marathi film "Dharmaveer" wasn't too far and minted Rs. 13.87 crores net in over the opening week. Chandigarh, May 16 - The Punjabi film industry is shining bright like never before with back-to-back blockbusters over the past few months. After testing the recent success with Honsla Rakh, Qismat 2, and Chal Mera Putt 2, the latest romantic-comedy film, Saunkan Saunkne, has set an all-time record for a Punjabi movie on the opening weekend. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, who also directed the last year's blockbuster Honsla Rakh, Saunkan Saunkne scored 9.65 crores net in its opening weekend, which is the highest-ever for a Punjabi movie. The film beat the record of Shadaa (2019) which had collected 9.15 crore net in the first weekend.## Saunkan Saunkne, starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira, grew over the weekend after taking the opening of 2.25 crores net. The movie received excellent reviews which helped it to jump approx. 47% on Saturday for 3.30 crores net. On Sunday, the movie was at its peak and scored 4.10 crores which is probably the highest single-day box office collection for a Punjabi film. ## At the overseas box office, Saunkan Saunkne has scored Rs 6.90 crores gross in the first weekend, taking the total worldwide collection of the film to 18.10 crores gross. The comedy entertainer, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Shehnaaz Gill, Sonam Bajwa, and Shinda Grewal was released over Dussehra weekend (October 15). Over the first weekend, it grossed Rs. 17 crores worldwide. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, "Honsla Rakh" remained solid throughout, and currently, it is the second highest-grossing Punjabi film of the covid-19 pandemic with Rs. 53.35 crores worldwide over 38 days.
