CBFC chairman expressed disagreement with a few scenes of Swara Bhaskar's new web series 'Rasbhari', calls out it irresponsible

The chairman of the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), Prasoon Joshi recently took to social media and expressed his disagreement with a few scenes in Amazon Prime's new web series 'Rasbhari' which starred Swara Bhaskar in the lead role. ## The web series is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt and written by Shantanu Shrivastava talks about a small-town boy who falls in love with his teacher who is sex-obsessed. However, a scene where a little girl child dancing provocatively in front of men drinking didn't go well as the chairman raised an objection on this irresponsible content. ## Prasoon Joshi took to Twitter and wrote, "Saddened by web series #Rasbhari’s irresponsible content portraying a little girl child dancing provocatively in front of men drinking.Creators& audience need 2seriously rethink Freedom of expression or freedom of exploitation? Let’s spare children in the desperate need 4 entertainment".## Saddened byWebseries #Rasbhari’s irresponsible content portraying alittle girl child dancing provocatively in frontof men drinking.Creators& audience need 2seriously rethink Freedomof expression or freedom of exploitation?Let’s spare children in thedesperate need4 entertainment.— Prasoon Joshi (@prasoonjoshi_) June 26, 2020 ## दुःख हुआ। — Prasoon Joshi (@prasoonjoshi_) June 26, 2020 ## However, one of the producers of the web series Tanveer Bookwala clarified that the CBFC chairman had misunderstood the scene that he was referring to. In reply to Prasoon Joshi, the producer tweeted,## Sir, I feel like the scene has misrepresented itself to you. Or you’ve missed the glaring subtext and meta satire. We’ve all lived through the family circus and dance This isn’t a gender or age myopic exploitation, it’s the hypocrisy of the effects of pop culture on society.— Tanveer (@tansworld) June 26, 2020 ## Swara Bhasker also clarified that the scene doesn’t intend to objectify the little girl. She explained the scene that the chairman was referring to and informed him that he was getting it wrong. She said that it was the exact opposite of how he had perceived it. She further added that the small girl is dancing on her own wish and seeing her daughter dancing her father is embarrassed. The dance is not shameful. The girl is just dancing, she doesn’t know that society will sexualize her. This is what the scene shows.## आदर सहित सर, शायद आप scene ग़लत समझ रहे हैं। #Rashbhari https://t.co/xUAmRBHHjJ— Swara Bhasker (@ReallySwara) June 26, 2020 ## The web series is co-created and produced by Applause Entertainment and Tanveer Bookwala and started streaming on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday.## Stay tuned...

Top five players with the longest one-day international cricket careers

On June 26, 2020, former team India captain Mithali Raj has completed 21 years of her international cricket career. She began her journey with a sublime hundred on debut against Ireland in 1999 and her juggernaut is still going strong even after 21 years. ## Mithali Raj has the longest international career among the women player and only woman with 20+ years of career. But when it comes to an ODI career, Mithali is right up there after the legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya. ## Here we are taking you through top 5 players with the longest ODI career whether its men or women:## 1. Sachin Tendulkar (22 years, 91 days) - Sachin Tendulkar does not need any introduction. The man who inspired the current generation to make a career in cricket has the longest runs in the one-day internationals. He started his ODI journey on 15 November 1989 against Pakistan at Jinnah Stadium which lasts long for more than 22 years as his last ODI outing came also against Pakistan at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. During his long ODI career, the master blaster played 463 ODIs and scored 18426 runs at an average of 44.83. To get those runs, he scored 49 hundred including a double hundred against South Africa and 96 half-centuries. The legendary batsman broke many records in his career and left many to break in which a few are, the highest number of matches, the highest number of runs, most hundred and half-centuries. ## 2. Sanath Jayasuriya (21 years, 184 days) - Arguably one of the greatest batsmen Sri Lanka has ever produced, Sanath Jayasuriya was naturally an attacking batsman who liked to dominate bowlers from the very first ball. The left-hander took the crease for the first time on 26 December 1989, almost a month after Sachin Tendulkar began his ODI journey against Australia at Melbourne which ended on 28 June 2011 against England at Kennington Oval. He played 445 ODIs and scored 13430 runs at an average of 32.13 with 28 hundred and 68 half-centuries. ## 3. Mithali Raj (21 years, 00 days)* - The only current player with more than 21 years of career, Mithali Raj has been one of the greatest woman cricketers in the history of cricket. She started her journey with a sublime hundred on debut against Ireland on 26 June 1999 and still going strong. Mithali was just 16 and a half-year-old when she made her ODI debut which was going to be written in history books. So far, Mithali Raj has played 209 ODIs and has scored 6888 runs at an impressive average of 50.64 with 7 hundred and 53 half-centuries. The former India captain is the only player among the top 10 leading run-getters in women ODIs to have 50+ average. She is also the most capped woman ODI player. Mithali has a real chance to break Sachin's record for the longest ODI career as she is eyeing 2021 world cup and beyond. ## 4. Chris Gayle (20 years, 288 days)* - Naturally an attacking batsman, Chris Gayle has been a revolution in ODI cricket. He may not look technically a good batsman but his hand-eye coordination and ability to hit the ball hard is enough to threaten the bowlers. He made his ODI debut against India on 11 September 1999 at Toronto CSCC and has played 300 ODIs so far in which he has made 10480 runs at an average of 37.70 with 25 hundred and 54 half-centuries. Gayle is one of the two players who has scored a double hundred in the world cup. ## 5. Javed Miandad (20 years, 272 days) - A batting maestro who scripted a few unrealistic victories for Pakistan, Javed Miandad was a synonym of spirit and spunk in the Pakistan cricket. Miandad will forever be remembered for his six off the last ball of Chetan Sharma in the Austral-Asia Cup final in Sharjah in 1986. He made his ODI debut against West Indies on 11 June 1975 at Edgbaston and played 233 ODIs and scored 7381 runs at an average of 41.47 with 8 hundred and 50 half-centuries. His last ODI outing came against India in the 1996 world cup at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Miandad has been hailed as one of the best batsmen Pakistan has ever produced. ## Note - stats as of 26 June 2020.## Stay tuned...

Bipasha Basu applauds the HUL decision of removing 'Fair' from Fair & Lovely, says her skin color didn't define her

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has applauded Hindustan Unilever (HUL) for dropping the word 'Fair' from its Fair & Lovely beauty product. The actress on Friday took to her Instagram handle and spoke how her skin color has been used to describe her since childhood. ## The 41-year old actress who has worked in many Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and English films, recalled her journey as an actress in the entertainment industry. She said that her skin color was always a topic of discussion despite the fact that she has been a successful film actor. ## Bipasha began her long Instagram post by saying that even as a child, her distant relatives discussed her 'dusky' complexion. She wrote, "From the time I was growing up I heard this always, "Bonnie is darker than Soni. She is little dusky na?“Even though my mother is a dusky beauty and I look a lot like her. I never knew why that would be a discussion by distant relatives when I was a kid."## Even when she won the supermodel contest, some of the newspapers referred her 'dusky girl from Kolkata' which again wondered her that adjective 'Dusky' was used to describe her. "Soon at 15/ 16 I started modelling and then I won the supermodel contest ... all newspapers read ... dusky girl from Kolkata is the winner. I wondered again why Dusky is my first adjective ??? Then I went to New York and Paris to work as a model and I realized my skin color was exotic there and I got more work and attention because of it," she added. ## Bipasha revealed that when she made her Bollywood debut in 2001 with Ajnabee, she was accepted and loved by many but she was still labeled as the 'dusky girl'. "Once I came back into India and film offers started... and finally I did my first film and from an absolute Ajnabee to Hindi film industry ...I suddenly was accepted and loved. But the adjective stayed which I started liking and loving by then.DUSKY girl wows the audiences in her debut film".## She further said, "In most of my articles for all the work I did, my duskiness seemed to be the main discussion.. it attributed to my sex appeal apparently. And sexy in Bollywood started getting accepted widely. There was a strong mindset of Beauty and how an actress should look and behave. Well you see I was confident and proud of who I was from childhood. My skin colour didn’t define me ... even though I love it and wouldn’t want it to be any different ever."## View this post on Instagram From the time I was growing up I heard this always,”Bonnie is darker than Soni. She is little dusky na?“Even though my mother is a dusky beauty and I look a lot like her.I never knew why that would be a discussion by distant relatives when I was a kid. Didn’t really stop me from being and doing all that I loved. Well you see I was confident and proud of who I was from childhood. My skin colour didn’t define me ... even though I love it and wouldn’t want it to be any different ever. Many skin care endorsements with loads of money was offered to me in the last 18 years ( some were very tempting)... but I stuck to my principle always. All this needs to stop. This wrong dream that we are selling ... that only fair is lovely and beautiful when the majority of the country is brown skinned. It’s a deep rooted stigma. It’s a mammoth step from the brand... and other brands should follow in the same footsteps soon🙏 A post shared by bipashabasusinghgrover (@bipashabasu) on Jun 25, 2020 at 8:32pm PDT ## She concluded her post by saying "Many skin care endorsements with loads of money was offered to me in the last 18 years ( some were very tempting)... but I stuck to my principle always".## "All this needs to stop. The interesting and unheard facts about Team India's 1983 World Cup campaign

The year 1983 was a pathbreaking year for the Indian cricket when Kapil Dev's boys pave the way for the next generation to take up the sport. The 1983 World Cup was just the third edition of the tournament. The first two World Cups were won by the mighty West Indies and was aiming to make the hat-trick. ## India truly dominated the tournament winning 6 out of 8 matches including the final at the Lord's. India had only 183 runs to defend to win the title which at the halfway stage was looking very difficult but the inspired bowling performances had not only helped India to defend the target but also helped to win by a fair margin of 43-runs. 28 years later, the MS Dhoni brigade repeated history, as Captain Cool launched the winning six into the Wankhede stands. ## The interesting thing about the 1983 and 2011 World Cup is that we know everything that was there to know about the 2011 World Cup but it was not the same with the 1983 World Cup. There were a lot of things that went unheard about the tournament as the information was not so easily available in 1983. ## Here are top 10 of the interesting and unheard facts about the Indian team that won the tournament in 1983 - ## 1. When the Indian team was leaving for England to play the World Cup, they were without a coach, doctor and even a physiotherapist.## 2. In the absence of a designated coach, it was Mohinder Amarnath who shouldered the responsibilities. Along with Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar, he decided the batting and bowling order of the team.## 3. Kapil Dev scored a brilliant 175 against Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, the match wasn’t recorded as the BBC was on a strike that day.## 4. Talking about the betting going into the World Cup finale, India’s odds were placed at 66:1. Tells you a lot about the dominant position India was in during the tournament.## 5. When Sir Vivian Richards was tearing apart the Indian attack in the final, Madan Lal went up to Kapil Dev and said to him, 'You give me the ball. I have earlier dismissed Vivian Richards and I can do it again'. And the rest, as they say, is history.## 6. Sandeep Patil had broken his ribs two weeks before the tournament but still, he traveled to England and played fearlessly in the tournament.## 7. During those days, a player was paid around Rs.12,500 for every match. But after the World Cup win, the BCCI announced a prize of Rs.2 lakh for the entire team. However, Sunil Gavaskar refused to accept the money. ## 8. When the news of India’s victory reached veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, she organized a music concert for the Indian cricket team. The money received from this concert was distributed among the 14 Indian players, with each player getting Rs.1 lakh.## 9. Before the tournament, Wisden Cricketer Monthly editor David Frith had written that he will eat his words if India wins the Cup. After a reader pointed it out, Firth literally ate his own article and published a picture of it in his magazine. ## 10. Before the 1983 World Cup, India had won only one match in the previous two World Cups (1975, 1979). ## Stay tuned...

"It is not new", Sushmita Sen gives her opinion on nepotism

Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput has committed suicide, there has been a debate between the insiders viruses outsiders in the industry. Netizens and a few industry people think that Bollywood does not fully accept outsiders hence, star kids get more opportunities. After Sushant's death, nepotism has yet again become the talk of the town and many star kids are under the scanner. ## Because of the continuous trolling of star kids and so many negative comments on social media on nepotism, Sonakshi Sinha has quit Twitter while Sonam Kapoor has disabled comment section on Instagram to keep themselves away from negativity. ## Now, when everyone is giving their opinion on this hot topic, former miss world, Sushmita Sen who has established herself in the industry was asked to give her take on nepotism in a recent interview. ## Speaking to a leading daily, the actress gave her insights. "There has been a discussion about it all over the media and everywhere at this moment. (But) We all have been enduring it, it is not new. Is this something that we have just realized?
