AEW Is All Set To Bring Back Ranking System
AEW is reverting to its roots by reinstating a focus on the ranking system, requiring wrestlers to once again ascend through the standings.
Upon its inception in 2019, All Elite Wrestling placed significant importance on wins, losses, and a meticulous ranking system as the primary method for determining top contenders for title holders. Over time, however, the promotion shifted towards a more narrative-driven approach. In a Twitter announcement on Saturday, January 20, 2024, Tony Khan revealed that the ranking system would be making a comeback later this month.
Although an official start date for these rankings remains unspecified, this shift aligns with Samoa Joe's vision since capturing the AEW World Title. Joe has been vocal about steering the product back towards a sports-centric, wrestling-focused brand.
The reintroduction of the ranking system signals a deliberate return to the fundamentals that shaped AEW's early approach to determining championship contenders.
The Rankings are coming back to AEW going forward, starting this month!@AEW is having a very exciting January, and this is only the beginning of an amazing 2024 for AEW and our fans.
