Jim Ross Provides Health Update And Addresses Future With AEW
Jacksonville, December 14 - In the latest episode of his podcast, Grilling JR, legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross shared a comprehensive update on his health and addressed the ongoing speculation about his future with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Ross began by discussing his health, specifically his ongoing battle with diabetes. He revealed that he has been dealing with issues related to blood sugar, which has affected the healing of his leg. Ross candidly shared that he has been administering nightly insulin shots to control his blood sugar levels, emphasizing the importance of managing this aspect of his health. "I'm good, Connie. Feeling good. Medicals are doing good, blood sugar is coming down," Ross stated on his podcast. He highlighted the significant improvement in his blood sugar levels, sharing that it had dropped from a concerning 300 to a more manageable 100. Despite the progress, Ross acknowledged the challenges and the need for continued monitoring.
In the podcast, Ross mentioned that he would undergo an MRI within the next week as a precautionary measure. The purpose of the MRI is to ensure that there is no damage to the bone in his leg and to rule out the possibility of bone cancer. Ross expressed confidence that the results would be reassuring but emphasized the importance of taking necessary precautions.
"I'll give you an example. Two weeks ago, my blood sugar was 300. That's death material, I was told. Ignorance is bliss, sometimes," Ross shared. "So we'll get an MRI next week just to bring that to a close."
Addressing the speculation about his future with AEW, Ross admitted that he has no clear idea about what lies ahead. He expressed a lack of concern regarding his status with the company, citing his extensive body of work spanning five decades.
"I have no idea what my future is at AEW. I have no clue. To be very frank about it, I'm not worried about it, yay or nay," Ross stated. "My work should stand on its own after 50 years, for God's sake, I mean, seriously."
Despite the uncertainty, Ross expressed gratitude for the support he has received from fans and acknowledged that feedback is meaningful to him.
While not providing a definitive return date to AEW, Ross expressed his desire to return sooner rather than later. He emphasized that he is mentally back in the competitive spirit and hopes that his health will allow him to resume his role with AEW in the near future.
"I have no idea when I'm going back to work. I hope it's sooner rather than later. I'm ready to go," Ross shared.
