Graeme Smith holds the record for the most matches won as a captain in test cricket as he won 53 matches, lost 26, and 26 matches were drawn in 109 matches for South Africa. Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting is second on the list as he won 48 matches in 77 matches with 16 lost and 13 draws.
