List Of Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

Here is the list of seven wonders of the ancient world.

1. The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt: Built around 2560 BC, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and only surviving wonder of the ancient world. It was built as a tomb for the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu and was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. It is composed of around 2.3 million stone blocks, some of which weigh over 80 tons each.



2. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Iraq: The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were a series of tiered gardens built in the ancient city of Babylon. They were created by King Nebuchadnezzar II for his wife, who missed the greenery of her homeland. The gardens were built on a terrace structure, with water being brought in to irrigate the plants via a complex system of pumps and channels.

3. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus in modern-day Turkey: The Temple of Artemis was built in the 6th century BC and was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. It was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World for its size, beauty, and architectural achievement. The temple was made of marble and decorated with sculptures and reliefs, and was burned down twice, first by an arson and second by the Goths.

4. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in modern-day Turkey: The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was built in the 4th century BC as a tomb for the Persian ruler Mausolus and his wife. The structure was made of white marble and stood at around 140 feet (43 meters) tall, with a pyramid-shaped roof and a statue of a four-horse chariot on top.



5. The Colossus of Rhodes in Greece: The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the god Helios that stood at the entrance of the harbor of Rhodes. The statue was made of bronze and stood at around 110 feet (33 meters) tall. It was one of the most ambitious engineering feats of the ancient world and was considered one of the Seven Wonders for its size and technical mastery.

6. The Lighthouse at Alexandria in Egypt: The Lighthouse at Alexandria was built in the 3rd century BC and was considered one of the Seven Wonders for its architectural and engineering achievement. The lighthouse stood at around 390 feet (120 meters) tall and was made of marble and brick. It was also equipped with a mirror system that reflected sunlight to guide ships into the harbor.

7. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia in Greece: The Statue of Zeus was built in the 5th century BC and stood at around 43 feet (13 meters) tall. It was made of gold and ivory and depicted the Greek god Zeus sitting on a throne. The statue was considered one of the Seven Wonders for its size and artistry.

It's important to note that, only the Great Pyramid of Giza among the above-listed structures still exists today and many of the remaining six wonders were only known through ancient descriptions, some not having much information available.
