Overseas Rights of Upcoming Telugu Biggies, 'Devara', 'Game Changer', 'Vishwambhara' and 'OG' Locked
Hyderabad, January 30 - Telugu cinema will be on a roll in the next couple of years with back-to-back Pan India biggies lined up for the release. In 2023, some of the biggest Tollywood stars will be in action with films that are some of the most anticipated ones among the nationwide audiences.
The trade is quite optimistic about the upcoming Pan-Indian films regarding their box-office prospects, however, projections are split as far as their overseas business is concerned. According to the latest reports in Tollywood media, the overseas rights of Devara, Game Changer, Vishwambhara, and OG are locked.
Jr. NTR-led "Devara" is easily one of the biggest Telugu films that reunited him with director Koratala Siva. The film was scheduled to release on April 5 this year but has now reportedly been postponed to a new date. It is said that Hamsini Entertainment has acquired the overseas theatrical rights of the film for 27 crores. The movie is expected to be released in August this year.
Jr. NTR's "RRR" co-star Ram Charan teamed up with director Shankar for a political action drama film titled "Game Changer". The movie has been in production since 2022 but the shoot got delayed due to Shankar's other commitments. The makers are now planning to release the film in September this year.
According to reports, the overseas theatrical rights of "Game Changer" have been bagged by Phars Films for 23 crores. The overseas business of the movie got hit by the continuous delay but it is expected to fetch good business for the domestic market.
Megastar Chiranjeevi teamed up with director Mallidi Vassishta for a socio-fantasy film titled "Vishwambhara". The makers recently released a concept first look teaser which instantly caught the attention of the fans. The movie is carrying a very good buzz among the audiences as well as the trade and as a result, it fetched a good overseas deal. As per reports, Sarigama Cinemas acquired the overseas rights of Vishwambhara for 18 crores which is very good business. It will be released on Sankranthi 2025.
Action drama "OG", starring superstar Pawan Kalyan, is another big Telugu film in production. Directed by Sujeeth, the movie is shaping up to be the biggest film in Pawan Kalyan's career and there is genuine curiosity among the fans. Phars Films is said to have acquired the overseas rights of it for 18 crores. Produced by DVV Entertainment, OG is reportedly scheduled to release on September 26, 2024, in multiple languages.
