Valimai Beats Thalapathy Vijay's 'Sarkar' In Tamil Nadu In Terms Of Net Collection

Chennai, February 25 - Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's "Valimai" takes a huge opening at the box office, surpassing all the expectations. Directed by H Vinoth, the movie has lived up to the hype it generated in the last one and a half years.

The movie has become Ajith Kumar's biggest opening ever, beating "Viswasam". It earned Rs. 37.10 crores gross on the first day. In Tamil Nadu, "Valimai" has beaten Thalapathy Vijay's "Sarkar" to emerge as the biggest opener of all time in terms of the net collection.

"Sarkar" (2018) had earned Rs. 23.50 crores net in Tamil Nadu on the first day while "Valimai" scored Rs. 25.30 crores. However, "Sarkar" remains the top-grossing film in the home state with Rs. 30.15 crores as compared to the "Valimai", which grossed Rs. 29.60 crores.

"Valimai" was also released in Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada languages. Telugu remains the second biggest contributor with Rs. 1.15 crores net. Area wise, "Valimai" grossed Rs. 3.60 crores in Karnataka, followed by Rs. 1.65 crores in AP/TG, Rs. 1.10 crores in Kerala, and Rs. 1.15 crores in the rest of India.
