Yash Raj Films Launches Its Spy Universe Logo Ahead Of Pathaan Trailer

Mumbai, January 7 - Ahead of the trailer of the highly-anticipated spy action thriller Pathaan, Yash Raj Films has launched its 'Spy Universe' logo and confirmed its expansion. ## YRF's ambitious spy universe kicked off with superstar Salman Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012) and later Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-fronted "War" joins it and now, SRK's "Pathaan" is the latest entrant in this. Among the upcoming films in this universe, SRK's "Pathaan" and Salman's "Tiger 3" are scheduled to release this year. ## Yash Raj Films have confirmed character crossover in the spy universe and the first glimpse of it will be seen in "Pathaan" which will feature Salman's cameo as Tiger. The movie is scheduled to release on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu while the trailer will be launched on January 10. YRF has reportedly also confirmed a new entrant in its spy universe which is yet to be known. ## The new logo will be present in Pathaan's trailer and then will keep appearing in the Tiger & War series of films. Mumbai, January 6 - In October 2021, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar announced war-drama Gorkha with director Anand L Rai. The movie was announced with first-look posters and was supposed to go on floors in 2022. ## Over the last year since the announcement, there hasn't been any update on the film which led to many speculations about the movie getting shelved. Over the last couple of days, there have been many reports stating that the ambitious movie has been canceled due to some issues. ## As per the latest reports, "Gorkha" hasn't been shelved but postponed indefinitely and filmmaker Anand L Rai has reportedly confirmed the same. "Yes, it is true. We are not making this film for now. There are technical issues. Indian Box Office Crossed 10K Crores Gross Collection For 2022 Movies

Mumbai, December 31 - It was a great year for the Indian film industry which witnessed 6 films crossing the 400 crores gross mark at the global box office, which happened for the first in Indian cinema in a single year. The total box office collection in India for 2022 films has also crossed the 10,000 crores gross mark. ## The domestic gross box office of 2022 was dominated by Southern Indian films with 12 South Indian films making it to the top 20 highest-grossing Indian films of 2022 list. Yash-fronted "KGF 2" remained the highest-grossing Indian film of the year with approx. 1210 crores gross in all languages, including approx. 1000 crores at the domestic box office. ## The 10,000 crores box office mark for 2022 films in India is set to be breached, thanks to the late strike by James Cameron's mega movie "Avatar 2" which is nearing 400 crores gross in India in all languages. The total collection this year witnessed a rise of approx. 200% from the last year and approx. 400% from 2020. The last two years were hit by the covid-19 pandemic. ## Total gross collection of 2022 movies (language-wise/approx.) - ## Hindi - 3800 Cr.## Telugu - 2200 Cr.## Tamil - 1810 Cr.## English - 900 Cr.## Kannada - 750 Cr.## Malayalam - 510 Cr.## Other languages - 250+ Cr.## The biggest film in Hindi was "KGF 2" which grossed approx. 515 crores while biggest Telugu grosser was "RRR" which made approx. 505 crores, Mani Ratnam's "PS-1" led the Tamil box office with approx. 260 crores, "KGF 2" was again biggest hit in Malayalam language with approx. 59 crores, and the biggest Kannada language hit was "Kantara" with approx. 190 crores gross. "Avatar 2" is dominated the English version in India with approx. 196 crores gross (so far).## The Hindi box office in 2022 largely benefitted from the dubbed versions of South Indian films, led by "KGF 2" and "RRR". Hindi Language Dominated Indian Box Office For 2022 Movies

Mumbai, December 31 - The year 2022 is coming to an end but not before scripting a memorable story for the Indian cinema despite a mixture of disappointment. It was a year when the Indian box office witnessed a sharp rise though it is still behind the pre-pandemic level.## 2022 was another rare year when Southern Indian film industries dominated the Indian box office, climbing ahead of Bollywood which must be ruing the lost opportunity. However, it was the Hindi language that contributed the most to the Indian box office, followed by Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ## The Hindi language films of 2022 have netted approx. 3250 crores to date, which is 432% of the collection of Hindi language films contributed in 2021, and approx. 75% more than the second-placed Telugu language which has netted approx. 1850 crores this year. The large contribution to the Hindi language collection came from the South Indian tentpoles along with some of the biggest Bollywood grosser of the year.## Kannada biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2" remained the biggest contributor to the Hindi language with a net collection of approx. 435 crores, which is the second highest ever after "Baahubali 2". SS Rajamouli's "RRR" is currently the second-biggest Hindi grosser of 2022 with approx. 266 crores net. It was Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" that threw the biggest surprise as it scored a whopping approx. 253 crores net when no one was expecting it to reach even 50 crores net.## The top 10 movies of 2022 with Hindi Net Collection are as follows - KGF Chapter 2 (435 Cr), RRR (266 cr.), The Kashmir Files (253 cr.), Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (249 cr.), Drishyam 2 (232 cr.*), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (184 cr.), Gangubai Kathiawadi (132 cr.), Avatar: The Way of Water (97 cr.*), Kantara (85 cr.), and JugJugg Jeeyo (84 cr.). ## 2022 has been the year of self-re-examination for the Bollywood film industry which went wrong on many fronts. The industry was expected to witness a massive number in the second half of 2022, but the underwhelming performances of films like "Vikram Vedha", "Raksha Bandha", "Laal Singh Chaddha", and "Ram Setu" made the Bollywood box office look less nice. Box Office: Cirkus First Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, December 26 - Cirkus had a very poor first weekend with collections around the 21cr mark and now, it has fallen on its face on the first Monday of its box office run. The film has seen rejection all over the country with the Mumbai circuit leading the way as the film was expected to put big numbers due to its genre and actor-director appeal in this circuit.## The first Monday early estimate collections are set to be around 2.50 crores net box office mark which is a disaster collection for this film. The first Monday collections will take the total collections of the film to a little over the 23cr net box office mark. The first week of business might be in the range of 30-32cr for Cirkus.## Overall, Cirkus has turned out to be the worst box office performer of Rohit Shetty's career who had an insane box office run till this film with a series of hits, super hits, and sometimes even blockbusters. Box Office: Cirkus First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, December 25 - Cirkus, which had poor collections in the first two days, continues its low business at the box office on Sunday despite being a national holiday. The film is probably the biggest disappointment of the year as it had a superhit director and a massive star cast and was released on one of the best weekends of the year, Christmas. ## As per the early estimates, the movie scored an estimated approx. 7.50 crores which is just a 15% jump when the film needed a 70-80% jump to record decent first weekend collections. The first Sunday collections will take the weekend collections of the film to around 20cr net depending on the final Sunday collections. The weekend collections will be less than the opening day collections of the previous Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh starrer "Simmba" which was released on the same weekend in 2018 and was a blockbuster.## Mumbai circuit is the only circuit where the film has found some audience but that is due to the insane track record of Rohit Shetty and not because of the content. Rest all other circuits have seen disaster collections. The first weekend has proved to be a killer for the film and it will lose most of its shows from Monday onwards. Avatar 2, which is simply running riot at the box office will get the maximum number of shows. Drishyam 2 whose run was almost ended might become the second choice now and the film might add some extra crores to its lifetime total. ## Overall 2022 proved to be one of the worst years ever for the Hindi film industry and the hope is that the industry should be back on track in 2023 with mega-event films lined up. Shah Rukh Khan's Spy Actioner 'Pathaan' To Become The First Indian Film To Release In ICE Theater Format

Mumbai, December 25 - Yash Raj Films is gearing up to kickstart 2023 by releasing one of its biggest films, Pathaan starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the title role. The movie is a part of YRF's ambitious spy universe and it also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in prominent roles along with the cameo of Salman Khan as Tiger.## "Pathaan" is scheduled to release on January 25, and to make the theater experience memorable for audiences, YRF will also release the movie in ICE theater format. PVR Cinemas, India's largest film exhibitor in partnership with French exhibitor CGR Cinemas, recently opened India's first premium ICE Theatres auditorium in two of its leading cinemas in Delhi NCR. Pathaan will be the first Indian film to release in this format.## "Yash Raj Films has been the front-runner to adopt path-breaking technology that pushes the envelope to give audiences an immersive movie-going experience. Box Office: Cirkus First Saturday Early Estimates

Mumbai, December 24 - Cirkus, which had poor collections on its opening day as it collected just 6.75cr net, remains flat on its first Saturday with little to nothing growth.## The movie scored an estimated 6.75-7 crores net and in an ideal case scenario, the second-day number should have been twice or thrice higher than what it is collecting now. The biggest shocker for the film is that Mumbai, Pune, and Thane all these places which do blockbuster business for Rohit Shetty films are seeing awful collections.## The first Saturday collections will take the first two days' collections of "Cirkus" to around the 13.50 crores net box office mark which should have been the opening day collections of the film. Tomorrow is a huge national holiday and if Circus fails to see huge growth then the film is likely to be a disaster which will be the first for Rohit Shetty who has an incredible career as a director with a close to 90% success ratio. ## There is a huge week full of holidays to follow which would have helped the film but seeing limited growth on the second day indicates that the Circus is a rejected film. Varun Dhawan Opens Up On The Box Office Performance of 'Bhediya'

Mumbai, December 24 - Varun Dhawan was recently seen in Maddock Films' creature comedy Bhediya, co-starring Kriti Sanon as the female lead. The actor had undergone rigorous prep sessions to step into the shoes of a man slowly turning into a mythical wolf. ## "Bhediya" was shot in real locations and was mounted on world-class VFX shots. However, despite all the efforts by the makers, the film couldn't bring in the makers of the number had thought at the box office. It grossed approx. 93 crores at the global box office, including approx. 77 crores in India.## Varun Dhawan, during a recent interview, expressed his views on the film's box office performance and said, "It has been such a strange year, (with films) trying to get people back to theatres. I expected Bhediya to do better box-office numbers than it did. Having said that, I am grateful that people have seen the film in cinemas and its collection is higher than that of many. It tells you that you should try and do better". ## Despite the underperformance of "Bhediya", Varun Dhawan said that he was creatively satisfied with it and would love to experiment in the future as well.## "Bhediya" was Varun Dhawan's second release of the year. Earlier, he was seen in Dharma Productions' "Jugjugg Jeeyo", which did fairly well at the box office and grossed over 130 crores worldwide. Mumbai, December 23 - The last big release of the year for the Hindi film industry, "Cirkus" has been released today at the box office. The film was much anticipated as it stars Ranveer Singh and it is directed by Rohit Shetty who is probably the most successful director of the last 15 years. The film has been made on a huge scale and also the first film of this actor-director combo Simmba became a blockbuster at the box office so it was carrying tremendous expectations. ## Cirkus opened to lukewarm response in the morning shows all over the country which was expected from the advance booking of the film as the advances were the lowest of all the major releases of 2022. But generally, Rohit Shetty's films open well at the box office, especially in Mumbai and Gujarat circuits as his films give the local Maharashtrian vibes but this time even Mumbai and Gujarat have seen dull occupancies throughout the day which is nothing but a shocker for the Industry.## As per the early estimates, "Cirkus" has scored around 7.00 crores net which is average collections but when you bring the scale and budget of the film into consideration then the opening is poor. No circuit in India collected well barring Mumbai but even Mumbai is not collected as it should have been for this Rohit Shetty comic caper. Rest all the circuits have seen a disaster turnout.## There is a huge Saturday and Sunday to follow for Cirkus and the film should show big gains in the next two days to record healthy first-weekend collections. Rohit Shetty Strongly Counters Bollywood Criticism

Mumbai, December 22 - Blockbuster Bollywood filmmaker, Rohit Shetty has responded to the unfair criticism the Bollywood film industry is receiving for its failure at the box office. The industry has gone through a rough phase over the last couple of years due to the covid-19 pandemic as films have failed to make a mark barring a few blockbusters.## There have been films this year that were expected to perform well, but couldn't spread magic at the box office. The underperformance of the films like "Bachchan Pandey", "Laal Singh Chaddha", and "Vikram Vedha", and others, led to criticism of the industry. ## Rohit Shetty, who is busy with the promotion of his upcoming comedy film "Cirkus", was asked a question about the poor run of Bollywood in comparison to southern industries which have delivered mega-blockbusters in 2022. ## Shetty stated that Bollywood is going through a phase due to the pandemic though it is not doom and gloom as there have been blockbusters films from Bollywood like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Brahmastra, The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyya 2, and Drishyam 2. ## The filmmaker points out that Bollywood has been the synonym for blockbusters over the years and has been known to churn out one blockbuster after another since the 1970s. A Sequel To 'Desi Boyz' And A Remake of 'Omkara' Is In The Development

Mumbai, December 22 - Bollywood film producer Anand Pandit joins hands with Eros International and Parag Sanghvi to produce the sequel to Desi Boyz and the remake of Omkara. Interestingly, both the original films underperformed but gained viewership on television and have a cult following for some reasons.## Sharing the news, Anand Pandit said in a statement, "Yes, it is true that I have collaborated with Eros International & Parag Sanghvi to make a sequel and a re-make of two iconic films. Each of these two films Omkara and Desi Boyz were trailblazers in their respective eras for their storytelling, star cast, and music. They have a cult following for different reasons and it seemed like the perfect time to revisit these hits and take their stories forward for a new generation of viewers". ## The star cast of both movies is yet to be announced. Ram Setu Digital Premiere Date Announced On Amazon Prime Video

Mumbai, December 21 - Akshay Kumar-fronted action-adventure film Ram Setu was released on October 25 amid much anticipation. The Abhishek Sharma-directed movie was expected to be one of the biggest grossers of the year, but it couldn't live up to the expectation and underperformed at the box office with a worldwide collection of around 97 crores gross. ## "Ram Setu" was co-produced by Amazon Prime, marking its production debut in India. Rohit Shetty Promises Next-Level Stuff In Ajay Devgn's 'Singham Again'
