Akhanda 2 Release Update:Netflix Reportedly Pushing for a Christmas Release

BY SACNILK

Following the sudden postponement of Nandamuri Balakrishna's highly anticipated film, Akhanda 2, fans were left disappointed by the indefinite delay. Now, in a new development, a report suggests that the film's streaming partner, Netflix, is pushing for a new, strategic release date. The makers of the film, 14 Reels Plus, announced the delay just hours before its scheduled premiere. In a statement, they apologized to the fans, citing unexpected circumstances. We've tried our absolute best to bring Akhanda2 to the big screens, but despite our tireless efforts, sometimes, the most unexpected things happen, and unfortunately, this is that time, the production house stated. It was later reported that the delay was due to legal and financial issues, which led to a stay on the film's release. Despite the setback, the makers concluded their statement with a powerful promise, assuring fans that the film will hit its mark whenever it arrives and that a new date is coming very soon. While the delay was a disappointment, some pointed out a potential silver lining. The film's complete audio jukebox is already out, and the extra time could allow the music to become even more popular, potentially building more hype for the eventual release. Now, a new report suggests a major development in the situation. According to sources, Netflix, the film's post-theatrical streaming partner, is reportedly pushing the makers for a December 25 release. The streaming giant is keen to capitalize on the Christmas and New Year's holiday period, which is a very lucrative time for both theatrical and OTT releases. With OTT platforms now having a significant influence on the business of films, their preferences for release dates are often taken very seriously by producers. This new push from Netflix could be the key factor in determining when Akhanda 2 will finally hit the big screen, giving fans a new ray of hope for a holiday release.

In a shocking development that has left fans stunned, the much-awaited Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer, Akhanda 2, has been postponed indefinitely. The film's release was abruptly halted just hours before its scheduled worldwide premiere on December 5, 2025, leading to widespread disappointment and confusion. The production house, 14 Reels Plus, issued a heartfelt apology on social media, confirming the unexpected delay. We've tried our absolute best to bring Akhanda2 to the big screens, but despite our tireless efforts, sometimes, the most unexpected things happen, and unfortunately, this is that time, the statement read. A stay order was reportedly issued by the Madras High Court after a petition from Eros International Media Limited regarding outstanding dues of around ₹28 crore from the production house. This last-minute legal intervention forced the cancellation of all premiere shows in India and overseas, leaving fans who had gathered at theaters in the lurch. While the delay is a major setback, there might be one unexpected advantage. The film's complete audio jukebox is already out. With the release now pushed back, the music has more time to marinate and grow on listeners. This extended period could allow the songs to become chartbusters, potentially creating even more hype for the film when it eventually hits theaters. History has shown that many delayed films have benefited immensely from their music picking up momentum and becoming a craze before the release, a phenomenon fans now hope will repeat for Akhanda 2. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Despite the challenging circumstances, the producers thanked the film's star and director for their unwavering support. We are forever grateful to our dearest God of Masses NandamuriBalakrishna Garu and BoyapatiSreenu Garu for standing by us during this challenging moment. Reassuring fans that the film's arrival is imminent, the makers ended their statement with a powerful promise: AKHANDA-2 WILL HIT THE BULLSEYE WHENEVER IT ARRIVES...COMING VERY SOON WITH A NEW DATE.The industry and fans are now keenly awaiting the resolution of these issues and the announcement of a new release date for the action saga.

Akhanda 2 Might Be Forced To Postpone Despite Clearing Eros Dues Why Legal War Won But Box Office Lost

BY SACNILK

While the makers of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam have reportedly resolved their legal battle with Eros International by agreeing to a massive ₹26 Crore settlement, the film faces a new, perhaps more damaging enemy: Logistics. According to verified trade reports emerging from the US and UK, the delay caused by the stay order has triggered a domino effect that could severely crush the film's overseas revenue. Even if the Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) are issued immediately for a release by tomorrow evening (Dec 6), experts warn that a simultaneous global release is now practically impossible. The primary issue lies in the rigid scheduling of overseas cinema chains. Unlike in India, where shows can be added at the last minute, US theaters operate on strict automated schedules. The viral report highlights that because Akhanda 2 missed its premiere and Day 1 slots, theater chains did not keep those screens empty. Most of the prime screens allocated to Balakrishna's film have already been reallocated to performing Hollywood heavyweights like Zootopia 2 and Wicked: For Good (Part Two). (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Trade analysts describe the effort required to reassign these shows back to Akhanda 2 within a few hours as a herculean task. Currently, only a few independent cinemas in limited locations might be able to screen the film, meaning the producers risk losing out on the lucrative premiere weekend revenue entirely. Given this chaos, the viral report suggests that postponing the film to December 12 is the only viable option to ensure a smooth, full-scale release overseas. However, this strategy comes with its own massive risk. A December 12 release gives Akhanda 2 a solitary week at the box office before the arrival of the biggest movie of the year. On December 19, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash will take over the majority of screens globally, including Premium Large Formats (PLFs). If Akhanda 2 delays, it walks straight into the Avatar storm, making it incredibly difficult to retain screens for a second week. The makers are now caught between a rock and a hard place. They can release tomorrow in India to satisfy local fans but sacrifice millions in overseas revenue due to limited screens. Or, they can postpone to December 12 to fix the US release, only to face the wrath of Avatar 3 seven days later. The decision made in the next few hours will determine the commercial fate of this mass entertainer.

Akhanda 2 Release Crisis Resolved 14 Reels And Eros Reach 26 Crore Settlement Film Expected To Release Very Soon

BY SACNILK

The uncertainty surrounding Nandamuri Balakrishna's highly anticipated Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is finally clearing up. After a dramatic 24 hours that saw premieres cancelled and the release stalled, confirmed reports indicate that the producers have reached a breakthrough settlement to get the movie back on big screens. However, as fans celebrate the resolution, viral reports have shed light on the deeper industry pattern haunting these big-ticket releases, linking the delay to unpaid dues from over a decade ago. The release of the Boyapati Srinu directorial was abruptly halted following a legal dispute with Eros International, but the deadlock now appears to be on the verge of resolution. According to the latest verified updates, production house 14 Reels Plus has reached a compromise, reportedly agreeing to pay 50% of the pending dues claimed by the corporate giant. With the total claim standing at approximately ₹52.5 Crore, the producers are settling a massive ₹26.2 Crore to clear the legal hurdles and secure the film's release. Eros International has reportedly consented to this arrangement. If the court formally lifts the stay order today, December 5, the film is set to finally hit theatres starting tomorrow evening, December 6. While the settlement is good news, social media has been abuzz with reports explaining why this happened. A viral observation circulating online highlights a recurring trend in Tollywood where old financial burdens stall new releases. According to widely shared tweets, this situation mirrors the release struggles of Ravi Teja's blockbuster Krack, which was famously delayed due to financial clearances linked to the film Spyder. Similarly, verified reports suggest that the Akhanda 2 hurdle stems from ghosts of the past. The viral reports claim the pending dues are not for Akhanda 2 itself, but are carry-over debts from the production house's previous massive projects—specifically Mahesh Babu's 1: Nenokkadine (2014) and Aagadu (2014). (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) This connects directly to the legal argument made by Eros International. They claimed that the current production banner, 14 Reels Plus, is essentially an alter ego of the former entity (14 Reels Entertainment) that produced those earlier hits. Consequently, they argued the new banner was liable for the unpaid balances from those decade-old films, leading to the sudden stay order. With the legal drama seemingly coming to a close, the spotlight finally shifts back to the cinematic spectacle itself. The film marks the highly anticipated hat-trick combination of Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu, delivering a fierce sequel to their 2021 blockbuster, Akhanda. The narrative sees Balakrishna reprising his role as the intense Shiva-devotee, once again stepping up to battle societal evils with divine rage. Produced by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the banner of 14 Reels Plus, the action-drama is further elevated by the thumping musical score of Thaman S. With the ₹26 Crore settlement reportedly agreed upon, the Roar of Akhanda is all set to be heard by tomorrow evening.

Hyderabad, December 4 - In a shocking development, veteran Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna's much-awaited action drama Akhanda 2, which is scheduled to release tomorrow on December 5, has reportedly been postponed to a new date due to financial hurdles. Since morning, reports have been going viral that producer 14 Reels Plus is facing financial issues with Eros International due to their past projects, and now the news of the postponement has come. Earlier in the days, the planned premiere shows across the country were also cancelled due to the same reason. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) It is said that the makers spent a massive budget on the film by taking money from multiple financiers. However, the clearances didn't happen on time, which has caused all this trouble and forced the makers to postpone the release just a day before its theatrical debut. Nandamuri Balakrishna is no small actor, but this is probably the first time he is facing such an issue, even though the Telugu film industry is not completely alien to such things. The timing of the postponement is not a good thing for the makers, as it might diminish the buzz around the film. The new date of Akhanda 2 is expected to be announced shortly. Akhanda 2 Thaandavam Sets New Record for Balakrishna with 114 Crore Pre Release Business

BY SACNILK

Nata Simham Nandamuri Balakrishna is poised to set the box office on fire with his latest sensational movie, Akhanda 2 Thaandavam. The film has generated massive hype, resulting in the biggest pre-release business of the actor's illustrious career. According to numbers reported by T2BLive, this project marks a significant milestone as it becomes Balakrishna's first-ever movie to cross the 100 crore mark in pre-release business globally, signaling the immense expectations riding on this sequel. A major chunk of this revenue comes from the Telugu-speaking states, where the film remains a dominant force. The report indicates that the combined business for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana stands at a massive 88.25 crores. Outside the home turf, the movie has also secured solid deals. The rights for Karnataka, the Rest of India, and dubbed versions contributed 11.00 crores, while the overseas market has shown strong faith in the film with rights valued at 15 crores. When putting these figures together, the total worldwide pre-release business is valued at 114.25 crores. To be considered a clean hit at the box office, Akhanda 2 Thaandavam needs to achieve a break-even target of approximately 116.00 crores. This sets a high benchmark for the film, but given the massive anticipation surrounding the sequel, fans and trade analysts are eager to see if Balakrishna can crush these targets upon release. Helming this massive project is director Boyapati Srinu, whose previous collaboration with Balakrishna delivered the blockbuster original. The musical prowess of Thaman S returns to provide the thunderous background score that became a hallmark of the first film. Nandamuri Balakrishna reprises his dual role as the fierce Aghora, Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Aghora, and the righteous Murali Krishna. Joining him is Samyuktha as the female lead, while Aadhi Pinisetty steps in as the formidable antagonist. The film also features Harshaali Malhotra in a pivotal role, adding emotional depth to the high-octane narrative. In this sequel, the stakes are higher as the legendary warrior Akhanda returns to fulfill a divine duty. The story follows the Aghora as he battles a menacing new tantric foe and dark forces that threaten to disrupt global peace. Alongside his twin brother Murali Krishna, Akhanda navigates a narrative that blends high-voltage action with deep spiritual themes, focusing on the protection of the innocent and the eternal Shiva Tatva (the essence of Lord Shiva). Akhanda 2 Thaandavam is not just testing Balakrishna's box office stamina but also the appetite of the audience for mass devotional actioners. If the pre-release numbers are any indication, the Thaandavam is set to shake the foundations of the industry, provided the content matches the colossal hype.

Akhanda 2:Will the Boyapati and Balayya combo rewrite history on December 5

BY SACNILK

The countdown has officially begun. In just a few days, on December 5, 2025, Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu will unleash their latest mass potboiler, Akhanda 2: Thandavam, on the big screen. The duo, known for their high-voltage entertainers, previously delivered the massive blockbuster Akhanda, which not only revived the box office during a tough phase but also attained a cult status. With the sequel carrying immense hype, the biggest question in the trade right now is: Can Akhanda 2 surpass the benchmarks set by its predecessor and NBK’s recent hits? To understand the magnitude of the target, we must look at the prequel. Akhanda was a massive money-spinner. It opened with a bang, collecting ₹21.20 Crore (India Net) on Day 1. Riding on the spiritual mass wave, the film went on to collect ₹89 Crore in India Net and a gross of ₹103.3 Crore. Its performance overseas was equally impressive, raking in ₹13.7 Crore, taking its total Worldwide Collection to ₹117 Crore. For Akhanda 2 to be termed a bigger hit, it needs to cross these figures comfortably. Post-Akhanda, God of Masses Balakrishna has been on a consistent winning streak. His Sankranthi release, Veera Simha Reddy, proved his box office pull by grossing a massive ₹130 Crore worldwide against a reported budget of ₹100 Crore. This remains his highest grosser in recent times. He followed it up with Bhagavanth Kesari, which showcased him in a different light. The film was a solid success, collecting ₹114.5 Crore worldwide on a reported budget of ₹90 Crore. Most recently, Daaku Maharaaj continued the momentum, earning ₹125.8 Crore globally against a reported budget of ₹100 Crore. This consistency proves that NBK’s market has expanded significantly. Here is a look at the box office performance of NBK's recent films: Movie Reported Budget Worldwide Collection Akhanda ₹ 50 Cr ₹ 117 Cr Veera Simha Reddy ₹ 100 Cr ₹ 130 Cr Bhagavanth Kesari ₹ 90 Cr ₹ 114.5 Cr Daaku Maharaaj ₹ 100 Cr ₹ 125.8 Cr With the film hitting cinemas on December 5, the anticipation among the masses is palpable. The combination of Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu has a proven track record of delivering box office thunderstorms. The biggest question now is whether Akhanda 2: Thandavam can capitalize on the franchise value and surpass the lifetime collections of its predecessor. If the mass centers connect with the roaring action and the spiritual intensity of the narrative, the numbers are bound to see a massive upward trend, potentially setting a new career high for the God of Masses.

Akhanda 2 Pre-Release Business: Nandamuri Balakrishna's Sequel Sets Massive Break-Even Target Worldwide

Hyderabad, December 10 - The sequel to Nandamuri Balakrishna's action drama Akhanda is all set to hit the big screen on December 12 amid huge anticipation. The movie was originally scheduled to release a week earlier, but was postponed at the 11th hour due to financial hurdles. The first movie, released in 2021, was a big blockbuster and also marked NBK's entry into the 100 crores club. After the big success of Akhanda, Balakrishna hasn't put a foot wrong, and now, the stakes for Akhanda 2 are higher than before. The makers are going all out to promote the film nationwide as they anticipate it to turn a money spinner for them. Top 10 Most Popular Indian Movies of 2025 On IMDb Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda's pre-release business is being locked, and the early numbers suggest that the movie will require unanimous audience support to break even. According to the reports, the film's theatrical rights have been sold for nearly 100 crores in the Telugu states, including 55 crores in Andhra Pradesh. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Needless to say, the pre-release business of the film is the highest ever for Balakrishna in the home market. Additionally, the rest of India business is reportedly locked at 8 crores while overseas business is around 15 crores. With a total theatrical business of over 120 crores worldwide, Akhanda 2 will need to gross over 225 crores to break even and become a box office hit. Prabhas Gears Up To Shoot For Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit: Big Update Revealed For the record, NBK's highest-grossing movie is Veera Simha Reddy, which was released just after Akhanda, and grossed approximately 130 crores worldwide. The buzz for Akhanda 2 is huge, but it isn't guaranteed for the film's success, especially if the word of mouth is not positive. As has been seen in the past, Telugu movies tend to scummed pretty quickly if the audience reception is not highly favourable. Produced by 14 Reels Plus Entertainment and IVY Entertainment, the film stars Balakrishna in a dual role alongside Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, and others in prominent roles. The movie is scheduled to release on December 5, with previews planned a day before, in multiple languages. Stay tuned...

Nandarmuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 Strikes Record-Breaking Post-Theatrical OTT Deal With Netflix

Hyderabad, September 11 - The much-awaited sequel to Nandamuri Balakrishna's blockbuster Akhanda has been delayed, but the anticipation for the film shows no signs of slowing down. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2 is now aiming for a grand worldwide release in the first week of December, in multiple languages. In 2025, the sequels failed to justify the massive expectations, except for a few, and despite that, the trade is supremely confident in Akhanda 2. Not just theatrical ambitions, the film has managed to strike a massive post-theatrical streaming deal with Netflix, possibly without a Hindi version. According to the latest Telugu media reports, Netflix has acquired the streaming rights of the movie for 80+ crores, which is the biggest for Balakrishna. It is not reported whether the streamer has bought the rights for all languages or just for the South Indian versions. Akhanda 2 is expected to have a full-fledged release in Hindi version, meaning an 8-week theatrical window, which is beyond Netflix's agenda. Produced by 14 Reels Plus and Sarke Studio, Akhanda 2 was supposed to be released on September 25, but the makers recently announced that due to the extensive post-production, it has been postponed. There is Pawan Kalyan's highly-awaited OG on September 25, so the trade believes it was the right decision to move back the release of the sequel. The big success of Akhanda (2021) has boosted the box office prospects of Akhanda 2, which is expected to open with massive collections all around. If word of mouth also turns out to be positive, then it is sure to become the biggest blockbuster of NBK. Stay tuned...
