Los Angeles, April 3 - Jared Leto's long-in-pending superhero movie, "Morbius" finally debuted in North American theaters on April 1st and opened on top of the domestic box office, despite being slammed by the critics. The movie collected $17.1 million on Friday with the weekend is projected to reach about $40 million. ## The latest entry into the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters opened to moderate figure, but with a $75 million production budget, 'Morbius' is a less imposing financial investment for Sony than the usual comic book action spectacle.## The Marvel/Sony film was utterly ravaged by critics, notching up a dismal 17% aggregate approval score on Rotten Tomatoes. Mumbai, March 1 - Warner Bros. has decided to pause the release of its highly-anticipated DC movie, "The Batman" in Russia amid the continuous invasion of Ukraine. "The Batman", starring Robert Pattinson, was slated for March 3rd release in Russia, which has now been pulled at the 11th hour.## "In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia", a WarnerMedia spokesperson said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy". ## Apart from Warner Bros., Sony Pictures has also taken a decision to not release its upcoming movies in Russia, including the high-profile Marvel pic "Morbius", starring Jared Leto. "Morbius" was slated for January 28 release this year, but now, postponed to April 1st.## "Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius", a Sony spokesperson said late Monday.## Russia has been one of the biggest international markets for Hollywood films. The recently released Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has so far grossed $44.5 million in Russia since its debut in December 2021. ## It is to be known that Disney was the first to take the decision of not releasing its film in Russia. "Uncharted" is doing far more business than expected thanks to younger males who are frequently visiting theaters, reports The Hollywood Reporter. ## Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the movie did not receive well by the critics, giving just 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it is being loved by the audiences, who gave it a B+ CinemaScore and 88% score on Tomatometer. The strong box office performance of "Uncharted" also gives an indication of how critics' reviews have become overrated, as suggested by director Ruben Fleischer, who called critics' reviews surprising for being so negative. ## The $120 million budgeted film was conceived as an origin story for the game series' globe-trotting adventurer Nathan Drake, played by Holland. Mumbai, February 17 - "Spider-Man: No Way Home" might not have set a release date in China yet, another Tom Holland-fronted movie is going to release in the biggest movie market in the world. ## Sony Pictures' "Uncharted", starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg has been dated for a March 14 release in China. The studio's Weibo account shared the news today with a video message from Holland and Wahlberg and a subtitled trailer, as well as a new poster, according to Deadline. ## Based on Sony's video game series of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, "Uncharted" won't be a day-and-date release with domestic, but it is surely a great sign as Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is facing trouble to get released in China, owing to what amounted to an unofficial ban on Marvel throughout the past year. ## Apart from "Uncharted", the other Hollywood title that gets a release date in China is Warner Bros./DC's "The Batman", starring Robert Pattinson. The movie will be directed by S.J. Clarkson, known for "The Defenders", "Life on Mars" while Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have penned the screenplay.## In the comics, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and thus was connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web. The image comes courtesy of an interview VFX supervisor Chris Waegner did with the website Befores and Afters, in which he broke down several key special effects sequences in the movie.## One of the first images shows Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man uniting with Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire's web slingers. In the image, the Spider-Man in the front and center with his Stark Industries-built suit is Tom Holland while the leftmost figure is Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and the right one is Andrew Garfield's.## After years of speculation about a multiverse reunion, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" brought together all three actors who had played live-action versions of the Marvel hero in the Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies.
