Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru makers approached Shahid Kapoor for its Hindi remake?

Shahid Kapoor seems to become the first choice of the filmmakers and producers when it comes to the Hindi remake of the South Indian movies. After the blockbuster Kabir Singh that was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, Shahid Kapoor is currently working on Jersey which is also a remake of the Telugu movie with the same name that starred Nani in the lead role. ## Now, according to the Mid-Day report, the makers of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya has approached Shahid Kapoor for its Hindi remake to play the lead role. However, Shahid Kapoor is yet to give a nod for its Hindi adaptation. ## Regarding the Hindi remake and Shahid being approached for the role, a source revealed to the tabloid, “The film was always supposed to be made in multiple languages. Shahid enjoyed a mammoth hit in Kabir Singh last year, which was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. So, he was the first choice of the makers. The actor is currently going through the script. After the leading man is locked, the team will zero in on the principal cast.”## Talking about the original Soorarai Pottru, it is an action-drama film directed by Sudha Kongara while Suriya and Guneet Monga have co-produced the film under the banners 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment. Along with Suriya in the lead role, the film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff, Urvashi, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Sampath Raj, and Karunas in important roles.## About the Soorarai Pottru's release, the film was originally scheduled to be released on April 9 but got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown. Dabangg movie director Abhinav Singh Kashyap recently took to Facebook and revealed that after Dabangg film in 2010, Arbaaz Khan and family sabotaged his career and the sustained gaslighting and bullying destroyed his mental health which has not only affect his professional life but the personal life also. ## The director's post came after Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14, who said to be in depression for a long time. I had to return the signing money to Shree Ashtavinayak films and moved to Viacom Pictures. My project was sabotaged and I was made to return my signing fee of Rupees 7 Crores plus interest of Ninety odd lacs. Now, the director of the film Shoojit Sircar opened up about the issue and said that the theater owners are right in protesting but we have to move on as there is nothing personal.## In an interview with Firstpost, he said, “Their resentment is right, and that is why I never retaliated to what they felt. I just told them, ‘Yes, you have every right to protest. You have every right to feel uncomfortable because this film is releasing digitally. But there is nothing personal. You will find your way to run your business, and I will find a way to release my films.”## “The Producers’ Guild also sent a statement to theatre owners saying how will the producers move on. Unless they move on, and films get made, the films will not get projected in the theatre. But I will always say that both cinema halls and OTT are going to co-exist. Their resentment is absolutely right but this is not the end of the world.
