Box Office: Selfiee Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 24 - Selfie starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi released today. The release of the film is not as big as other Akshay Kumar releases of the past but there were expectations of good numbers from the film at least initially, but it proved all the expectations wrong and took one of the lowest openings of all time featuring a major star. There was not an expectation of the 20Cr or 25Cr mark but at least a double-digit start should have been there but is not even one-third of that. The opening day early estimates suggest around 3 crores net which is disastrous. Last week, Shehzada featuring Kartik Aryan who is an upcoming star took a disappointing opening but now that opening looks far better as it is more than a double of Selfie. The film will probably emerge as one of the lowest openings ever for Akshay Kumar and In real value, it will be the lowest ever. ## Akshay Kumar who is one of the most popular stars in the industry has struggled the most after the pandemic era. He has given a series of disasters that did not even take an opening. Forget taking an opening, the audience did not even care for his films. A genuine star like him should not be working in the films like Selifee or Bell Bottom or most of his post-pandemic films which gave a feeling of a B-grade cinema. Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi's 'Selfiee' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, February 23 - After the dream start of the year with Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, Bollywood gets a reality check of the changing box office dynamics in the current scenario. Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada failed to utilize the momentum created by Pathaan as Bollywood's search for the next hit begins. ## The industry is now gearing up for the next release with superior star power in the form of Selfiee. The Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi-fronted flick is not the next Pathaan but the makers will be hoping for a better outcome than Shehzada which was carrying decent expectations. ## The full-fledged advance booking for this Raj Mehta's directorial was opened just 24 hours before the release. While overall pre-sales of Selfiee are low, the pace of it is better than Shehzada which was not going anywhere with its pre-sales numbers. ## Selfiee is not a frontloaded box office flick, it is expected to take in a lower opening than Shehzada which took the start of 6 crores net. Going by the advance booking and considering other aspects, Selfiee is expected to open around 4-5 crores net. It has sold approx. 20K tickets so far for the opening day, which can be termed low.## Produced by Prithviraj Productions, Dharma Productions, and Cape Of Good Films, Selfiee is expected to release on over 3000 screens nationwide. This size of the release is enough for a movie to take a good opening, but again there is a lack of excitement among the moviegoers which makes Selfiee a decent starter. Box Office: Blockbuster Pathaan Surpasses 1000 Crores Worldwide

Mumbai, February 20 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan makes his debut in the 1000 crores club at the worldwide box office, thanks to the historic blockbuster Pathaan. ## The spy action thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand, has been running riot since its release on January 25 this year. Keeping domestic box office aside, Pathaan's overseas box office performance is eye-popping with approx. $46 million (380 crores gross). ## When combined with the Rs. 620 crores that the film has earned at the domestic box office, Pathaan's worldwide total has now crossed 1000 crores in just 27 days. ## The Yash Raj Films production is the first Bollywood movie to breach the 1000 crores mark without China and with China, overall, it is the second. Tamil Blockbuster 'Love Today' To Get The Hindi Remake

Mumbai, February 20 - The blockbuster Tamil romantic-comedy film Love Today is set to be remade in the Hindi languages. Phantom Studios in association with its original producers AGS Entertainment will be producing the Bollywood remake. ## Directed by Pradeep Ranganathan who also made his acting debut with this film, Love Today followed two young lovers who are forced to exchange their phones for a day and the consequences of that. Box Office: Shehzada And Ant-Man 3 First Sunday/Third Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 19 - The remake of the Telugu movie Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada has a low opening weekend at the box office. There were a lot of expectations from this action comedy, especially after the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, but it couldn't live up to those expectations. ## After scoring 12.65 crores net in the first two days, the Rohit Dhawan-directed scored an estimated 7-7.50 crores net on its first Sunday, pushing the total collection to around 20 crores. Shehzada scored around a 10% jump on Saturday and an almost similar jump is expected on Sunday. ## Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania witnesses a drop on Sunday for an estimated approx. 8 crores net. The superhero movie scored 17.70 crores net in all languages after jumping around 11% on Saturday. Mumbai, February 18 - Kartik Aaryan's action comedy Shehzada has had a decent start at the box office, scoring 6 crores net. The movie, however, needed a big boost on its second day for a respectable opening weekend but there wasn't much of growth in the biz. ## As per the early estimates, the Rohit Dhawan-directed flick collects around 7 crores net. There might be a few lakhs here and there but the big growth wasn't visible at all. The total collection of Shehzada is approx. 13 crores after the two days and the 3-day weekend is looking at around 20 crores. ## Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, on the other hand, has had a good opening with approx. 9 crores net. Mumbai, February 16 - After the blockbuster start of the year with Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan", all eyes are now on Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon's "Shehzada" which releases on February 17. Kartik is returning to the big screen after delivering the biggest hit of his career in the form of "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2". ## "Shehzada", which is the remake of the Telugu movie "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo", is directed by Rohit Dhawan whose last directorial was "Dishoom" (2016). "Shehzada" has been carrying a decent buzz, however, the advance booking which opened this week is really poor and doesn't give much hope as far as the opening of the film is concerned. ## The action comedy film will have a wide release on over 3000 screens across the country. As of 1 PM on February 16, "Shehzada" has sold approx. 22K tickets, including approx. 12K tix at three national chains (PVR, INOX, Cinepolis) for the opening day. It is one of the lowest counts of advance tickets post the covid-19 pandemic for a well-known Bollywood actor. ## Kartik's last movie "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" had clocked approx. 6.50 crores gross in advance sales for the opening day and the movie opened at 14.11 crores net which was the second biggest opening post-pandemic for a Bollywood title at that time.## "Shehzada", considering its pre-sales as of now, is looking like a 5-7 crores net starter. As has been the case in the last couple of years, the film will heavily depend on spot bookings and positive word of mouth. The opening, however, can see a boost due to the Mahashivrati holiday the next day (Feb. 18). But, despite all the aspects, "Shehzada" doesn't seem like scoring more than 8 crores unless it gets extremely positive WOM.## Though "Shezada" is a family-friendly film, it is not a front-loaded one, so the makers will be hoping it gets positive reception from critics and audiences. The movie scored approx. 499 crores net through the 3rd Tuesday in all versions, and at the time of penning this piece, it has breached Rs. 5 billion mark. ## The Hindi version of "Pathaan" has earned approx. 482 crores net through 3rd Tuesday (21 days).
