He sets up for the Five Knuckle Shuffle and lands the move. ## As Cena prepares for his signature Attitude Adjustment move, Theory manages to get his hand on the ropes, preventing the execution of the move. The referee gets knocked out during the match, and Cena takes advantage by applying the STF, causing Theory to tap out. Unfortunately, the referee is still knocked out and did not see the submission. ## Cena releases the hold to check on the referee, giving Theory an opportunity to land a low blow. Theory then executes his finishing move, the A Town Down, and secures the three-count, winning the match. ## WWE WrestleMania 39 Results: Austin Theory Vs. Roman Reigns Says Nobody Would Be Able To Be The 'Honorary Uce' Other Than Sami Zayn

After losing to "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38, Sami Zayn became the subject of ridicule. To restore his reputation and regain the trust of the locker room, Zayn sought the assistance of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. ## During an interview with ESPN, Roman Reigns shared that he was a fan of Sami Zayn's work on Jackass and admired the way he approached the creative process. Reigns also expressed his respect for Zayn and stated that no one else could be the "Honorary Uce" besides him. ## "I was entertained by him when he did the Jackass stuff and really respected the way he navigated that creative [process]. I believe I can do work of this level with... other guys, they'd just be different," Reigns told ESPN. "It wouldn't be the same. It would be a different character, a different angle, a different layer. Nobody would be able to be the 'Honorary Uce' other than Sami Zayn. He's endearing in that way where you want something good for him. Even if he doesn't deserve it, you still want it for him."## After turning on Reigns at WWE Royal Rumble, Zayn would challenge him to a highly anticipated match in Montreal at WWE Elimination Chamber. Despite putting up a valiant effort, Zayn would ultimately fall to Reigns. ## But the rivalry between Zayn and the Bloodline would not end there. Zayn would team up with his long-time friend Kevin Owens to face The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) for the coveted Undisputed Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, marking a new chapter in their ongoing feud with Reigns and his family. ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

WWE WrestleMania 1 (1985) Results: Full Recap, Matches, Commentary, Winners, Rating

WrestleMania I was the inaugural professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). It took place on March 31, 1985, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA. The event was headlined by a tag team match between Hulk Hogan and Mr. T against Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. ## The event also featured several other notable matches, including a match between Andre the Giant and Big John Studd, and a women's tag team match featuring The Fabulous Moolah and Velvet McIntyre against Leilani Kai and Judy Martin. ## WrestleMania I was a major success and is widely considered to be the beginning of the modern era of professional wrestling. It set a precedent for future WrestleMania events and established the WWF as a dominant force in the wrestling industry. ## WWE WrestleMania 1 (1985) Results: Full Recap ## Singles Match: Tito Santana Vs The Executioner ## The first match of WrestleMania I was indeed between Tito Santana and The Executioner (Buddy Rose). Santana emerged victorious after making The Executioner submit to his signature submission hold, the figure-four leglock, which was a clear message to the reigning Intercontinental Champion at the time, Greg Valentine, who was known for using the same move as his finisher. ## WINNER: Tito Santana by submission ## MATCH RATING: ** ## Singles Match: King Kong Bundy (with Jimmy Hart) Vs Special Delivery Jones ## After King Kong Bundy (accompanied by Jimmy Hart) and Special Delivery Jones entered the ring, Bundy quickly gained the upper hand by smashing Jones into the turnbuckle and then landing on him with his stomach. Jones was then pinned by Bundy, and although the WWF's official time for the match was a then-record of nine seconds (which has since been surpassed by The Rock's victory over Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32), the actual duration of the match was 25 seconds. ## WINNER: King Kong Bundy via pinfall ## MATCH RATING: * ## Singles Match: Ricky Steamboat Vs Matt Borne ## Up next was a match-up between Ricky Steamboat and Matt Borne. Steamboat gained the early advantage in the match, but Borne quickly turned the tables by flipping him over and slamming him to the mat with a belly-to-belly suplex. Despite this setback, Steamboat managed to mount a comeback by executing a flying crossbody, which he used to pin Borne and secure the victory. ## WINNER: Ricky Steamboat pinfall ## MATCH RATING: * ## Singles Match: Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valiant) vs. David Sammartino (with Bruno Sammartino) ## Following the match, David Sammartino made his way to the ring accompanied by his father, Bruno Sammartino, while Brutus Beefcake was accompanied by Johnny Valiant. Both wrestlers showed their skills as the momentum of the match swung back and forth between them. At one point, Beefcake threw David Sammartino out of the ring and Valiant followed up by slamming him onto the unforgiving cement floor. Valiant then returned Sammartino to the ring, but was promptly attacked by Bruno Sammartino. This led to a wild brawl involving all four men, ultimately resulting in the match being declared a no-contest. ## WINNER: Ended in a double disqualification ## MATCH RATING: *** ## WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship Match: Junkyard Dog Vs. Greg Valentine (c) (with Jimmy Hart) ## The first championship match of WrestleMania featured Junkyard Dog taking on the reigning WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine, who was accompanied to the ring by his manager Jimmy Hart. Junkyard Dog started off the match aggressively, unleashing a barrage of headbutts and punches on Valentine. The momentum of the match shifted back and forth until Hart climbed onto the ring apron, where Valentine accidentally hit him. Taking advantage of the distraction, Valentine pinned Junkyard Dog with his feet on the ropes, an illegal maneuver. Tito Santana rushed down to the ring and explained to the referee what had happened, prompting the match to be restarted. ## Junkyard Dog eventually won the match by count-out as Valentine failed to re-enter the ring. However, since titles do not change hands via count-out, Valentine retained his Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship. Despite this, Junkyard Dog still celebrated his victory in the ring. ## WINNER: Junkyard Dog via countout ## MATCH RATING: **** ## WWF Tag Team Championship: The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (with Freddie Blassie) Vs The U.S. Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) (c) (with Lou Albano) ## Up next was a highly-anticipated match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. The challengers, Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik, accompanied by Freddie Blassie, took on the reigning champions, The U.S. Express (Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham), accompanied by Lou Albano. The U.S. Express dominated the early part of the match, but Volkoff and The Sheik managed to gain the upper hand over Rotundo as the match progressed. ## Rotundo eventually tagged in Windham, who executed a bulldog on The Sheik. However, when the referee was distracted, The Sheik used Blassie's cane to strike Windham in the head. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Volkoff pinned Windham and the referee counted to three, making Volkoff and The Sheik the new WWF Tag Team Champions. Their victory at WrestleMania made them the first tag team to win a championship at the iconic event. ## WINNER: The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff ## MATCH RATING: **** ## Career vs. $15,000 Body Slam Challenge: André the Giant Vs Big John Studd (with Bobby Heenan) ## The next match on the card was a highly anticipated showdown between two of the biggest names in professional wrestling: André the Giant and Big John Studd, who was accompanied by his manager Bobby Heenan. The $15,000 Body Slam Challenge stipulated that André had to body slam Studd to win $15,000, and if he failed, he would be forced to retire from wrestling. ## Although Studd began the match on the offensive, André quickly regained control with his signature chops and headbutts. After wearing down Studd's knees with a series of kicks, André was finally able to lift him over his shoulders and execute the body slam to win the match. André then threw some of the prize money into the cheering crowd, much to their delight. ## However, things took a turn when Heenan grabbed the bag holding the remaining winnings and fled the ringside. Despite this setback, André emerged victorious and continued his legendary career with his undefeated streak still intact. ## WINNER: André the Giant ## MATCH RATING: **** ## WWF Women's Championship: Wendi Richter (with Cyndi Lauper) Vs Leilani Kai (c) (with The Fabulous Moolah) ## After all the women had left ringside, it was time for the WWF Women's Championship match between Wendi Richter, managed by singer Cyndi Lauper, and Leilani Kai, managed by former champion The Fabulous Moolah. Shortly after the match began, Moolah tried to interfere by pulling Richter's hair from the outside, but Lauper prevented her from doing so. ## Kai then performed a flying crossbody from the top rope, but Richter was able to roll through and pin Kai for the win, becoming the new Women's Champion. This moment was historic, as it marked the beginning of the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection and brought more mainstream attention to women's wrestling. ## WINNER: Wendi Richter ## MATCH RATING: **** ## Hulk Hogan and Mr. T (with Jimmy Snuka) Vs Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper (with Bob Orton Jr.) ## The main event and last match of the night pitted Hulk Hogan, the reigning WWF World Heavyweight Champion, and Mr. T, accompanied by Jimmy Snuka, against "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, accompanied by "Cowboy" Bob Orton. Professional boxer Muhammad Ali was the special guest referee (on the outside of the ring), New York Yankees manager Billy Martin was the guest ring announcer while Liberace (accompanied by The Rockettes) was the guest time keeper. First, Piper, Orndorff, and Orton made their way to the ring as drums and bagpipes played, causing the crowd to boo. Crowd favorites Hogan, Mr. T, and Snuka made their way to the ring next. ## The match began with Mr. T and Piper in the ring and the two traded blows. Midway through the match, all four men began brawling in the ring, and Muhammad Ali punched Piper in an attempt to restore order. After the match's order was restored, Orndorff and Piper had the offensive advantage. As Orndorff locked Hogan into a full nelson, Orton climbed the top rope to attempt to knock out Hogan. Instead, Orton mistakenly hit Orndorff, and Hogan pinned him to win the match. In frustration, Piper knocked out the in-ring official, Pat Patterson, before he and Orton retreated backstage leaving Orndorff alone in the ring with Hogan, Mr. T, and Snuka. ## WINNER:Hulk Hogan and Mr. T ## MATCH RATING: ***** ## That Will DO! ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

AEW Dynamite 3/29/23 Full Show Review: Match Rating, Results

The highlight of tonight's episode of AEW Dynamite was the long-awaited return of Adam Cole to the ring. After a hiatus of nine months, Cole finally made his comeback on tonight's show. ## Adam Cole had been out of action for the past nine months following a major concussion he suffered during a match at Forbidden Door on June 26, 2022. His return to the ring finally happened on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, where he faced off against Daniel Garcia, a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society. ## Plush, Kenny Omega made his first defense of his current IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship reign, where he faced NJPW's, Jeff Cobb. Orange Cassidy defended the International title against The Butcher and many more. ## Check out the full show review: ## Jungle Boy Jack Perry Vs Matt Hardy (w/Ethan Page) ## Last week on the wrestling program, Stokely Hathaway was nowhere to be seen after his defeat by HOOK. During the match between Hardy and Perry, there was a nice back and forth between the two wrestlers. When Perry attempted to dive out of the ring, Page intervened and prevented the move. However, this gave Hardy an opportunity to catch Perry with a Side Effect when he was mid-air. Later on, Perry fought back with a double sledge off the barricade and a slugfest on the apron, but Hardy managed to hit another Side Effect on the edge of the apron. ## During the commercial break, it was all Hardy during the picture in picture, and Perry fired back with a dropkick. Page once again distracted Perry, allowing Hardy to connect with a superplex for a two-count. However, Page's interference didn't go unnoticed, as HOOK's music suddenly played, and he started a brawl with Page. As Hardy tried to hold HOOK back, Page clocked him. Perry took advantage of the distraction and hit Hardy with a dive. Back inside the ring, Hardy tried a third Side Effect, but Perry countered with a Flatliner and a charging forearm to the back of the head, securing the victory. ## WINNER: Jungle Boy Jack Perry ## MATCH RATING: ** ## Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta Vs Dalton Castle & The Boys ## Castle and The Boys were viciously attacked by The Blackpool Combat Club during their entrance, leaving them beaten and battered on the floor. Despite the chaos, the referee Rick Knox decided to start the match anyway. Moxley locked Castle in an Anaconda choke on the outside, while Castagnoli swiftly executed a Ricola Bomb on one of The Boys, leading to an effortless victory for the Blackpool Combat Club. ## WINNERS: Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta ## MATCH RATING: *** ## Kenny Omega Vs Jeff Cobb to retain the IWGP US Title ## Cobb demonstrated his raw strength early on in the match, presenting a completely different challenge for Omega compared to last week's opponent, Vikingo. Omega managed to send Cobb to the outside and hit his trademark Terminator Dive, followed by the Kotaro Crusher. However, he made the mistake of attempting a bodyslam, causing Cobb to collapse onto him. A running brainbuster by Cobb gave him control, as he focused on Omega's taped up ribs. During the entire commercial break, Cobb continued his onslaught on Omega, even posting him back first on the ring post. ## Omega attempted to fight back with his running claw slam, but he buckled while trying to execute You Can't Escape, and Cobb capitalized with a spinning back suplex. Cobb attempted a massive release German Suplex, but Omega managed to land on his feet and charged with a spinning Polish Hammer. He followed up with a backslide into a running knee strike, which got him a near fall. Omega signaled for his V-Trigger, but Cobb caught him with a standing dropkick. Omega escaped from a fireman's carry and hit multiple Snap Dragons, but Cobb popped up and landed a devastating lariat, leaving both men down.## As they struggled to get back up, they exchanged forearms and chops, with Cobb hitting an uppercut to Omega's injured ribs. Cobb set up Omega in the corner with a raising headbutt and hit a delayed superplex, followed by a standing moonsault that only got him a near fall. Cobb hit a V-Trigger and attempted both the One Winged Angel and the Tour of the Islands, but Omega countered with a ripcord knee and another V-Trigger. Omega finally managed to lift Cobb up for the One Winged Angel and secured the victory. ## WINNER: Kenny Omega ## MATCH RATING: *** ## Orange Cassidy Vs The Butcher (w/The Blade) to retain the AEW International Title ## The match between Cassidy and Butcher began with a surprise attack by The Blade on Cassidy before the match started. The referee finally intervened and threw The Blade out of the ring, giving Cassidy enough time to recover before the match began. Cassidy started using his speed and little kicks, but Butcher caught him and slammed him down on his ribs. Butcher continued to work on Cassidy's ribs during the picture in picture break and locked him in a Cloverleaf submission hold, but Cassidy refused to give up. ## Butcher attempted a powerbomb, but Cassidy retaliated by poking him in the eyes and attempted an Orange Punch. Butcher countered the move and executed a violent Choke Breaker. Cassidy fought back with a Stundog Millionaire and a satellite DDT, which almost ended badly but both men managed to fix it. Cassidy then went for a diving DDT off the top rope. The Blade interfered and hit Cassidy with a pipe in the ribs, but Chuck Taylor and Trent came to Cassidy's aid and attacked The Blade. Butcher then threw the referee down, but Taylor hit Butcher with the pipe in the ribs. Cassidy then hit Butcher with an Orange Punch and Beach Break to retain his title. ## WINNER: Orange Cassidy ## MATCH RATING: *** ## Ruby Soho (w/Saraya & Toni Storm) Vs Willow Nightingale ## Soho has dropped her Rancid theme, which, although it's a great song, might be for the best considering Soho's new attitude. Nightingale appears visibly disappointed that she has to wrestle her former friend, who just a few months ago won a wild Street Fight on Rampage with her. Nightingale has Soho's offense scouted well, countering No Future and a tilt-a-whirl head scissors into a side slam and splash. Nightingale fired off corner forearms until Soho begged off and suckered Nightingale in, allowing Saraya to attack with the referee's attention turned away. ## Nightingale mounted a comeback out of the commercial after stopping another Saraya attack, sending her to the floor. Nightingale took the fight to Soho with a nice spinebuster and a gnarly Death Valley Driver. Referee Aubrey saw Toni Storm shake the middle ropes while Nightingale was up there and did nothing, as Soho hit multiple No Future kicks for two. Soho was launched by a Pounce, as the straps came down and Nightingale wanted the Doctor Bomb, but for what felt like the tenth time, Saraya took the ref, and it was enough for Nightingale to get distracted, allowing Soho to steal the win with a roll-up and her feet on the ropes. ## WINNER: Ruby Soho ## MATCH RATING: *** ## Adam Cole Vs Daniel Garcia ## The match started with some intense grappling exchanges, but Cole eventually found himself in a headlock and had to fight his way out. Garcia took control with a snap piledriver, and during a break, the ref checked on Cole, who seemed to be having issues with his head. Garcia continued to dominate until Cole managed to hit a Ushigoroshi and regain some momentum. ## Both wrestlers exchanged strikes, with Garcia hitting a high angle German suplex and Cole countering with a superkick. Garcia went for a superkick of his own, but Cole dodged it and landed a near fall. Cole missed his signature move, The Boom, and Garcia took advantage, hitting him with anvil elbows. Garcia locked in the Dragon Tamer, but Cole managed to reach the ropes. Instead of following up, Garcia posed for the crowd, allowing Cole to recover. ## Garcia hit another piledriver, but Cole kicked out. He then charged at Cole, who caught him with a superkick and hit the Panama Sunrise, followed by The Boom to secure the victory. ## WINNER: Adam Cole ## MATCH RATING: *** ## THAT WILL DO! ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

Bobby Lashley Is Uncertain About His Matchup At WWE WrestleMania 39

Despite WrestleMania 39 being just around the corner, Bobby Lashley is still uncertain about his plans for the event. While it seemed that Lashley was set to collide with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, references to the match have been noticeably absent in recent weeks. ## As of now, it appears that Lashley's involvement in WrestleMania will be limited to the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which is set to take place on WWE SmackDown. ## During an interview with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Bobby Lashley was asked about the atmosphere of WrestleMania. ## It's a big fight feel, WrestleMania is always going to be that way. Right now, we're trying to figure out what I'm going to do, being the All Mighty former WWE Champion and everything like that, still in search of finding that big matchup. That's what everybody wants to do when they go to WrestleMania, they want to have a big iconic matchup in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and do what we love. Right now, I'm kind of half and half, getting ready for it and preparing for that day. I have a big match on Friday night, hopefully, that trickles over and causes something big for Saturday or Sunday." ## "I have no idea. All I know is that I think I provoke fear in a lot of people. You can go out there with me, we can have a great match, but at the end of the day, The All Mighty always comes through. I'm looking for him, I'm looking for whoever wants to step up. Right now, a lot of people in the business are looking like, 'this is going to be a fun match for me.' If you want a real challenge, I'm the real challenge for anybody on the roster." ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.
