Ranbir Kapoor Locked To Headline YRF's Action Thriller 'Dhoom 4'

Mumbai, September 28 - Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly been locked to headline Yash Raj Films' hugely anticipated action thriller Dhoom 4. The movie was officially announced many moons back and it is finally moving ahead with the pre-production stage. ## According to a report by Pinkvilla, the 4th instalment of the blockbuster franchise has entered the pre-production stage now at YRF under the supervision of Aditya Chopra. Ranbir Kapoor, who is riding on the monstrous success of Animal, is the newest addition to headline the franchise. ## "The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest in being a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise. Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy", says the report. ## Ranbir will play the anti-hero and it is said that none of the original cast will return as Dhoom 4 is a reboot in the literal sense. In the previous three films, John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, and Aamir Khan took on the negative roles, respectively, which has been a driving force of the Dhoom franchise. ## Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra have been a part of each Dhoom movie as cop buddies but Dhoom 4 will feature two big heroes from the younger generation to replace them. The core story has been locked and YRF will proceed to the casting stage. The horror-comedy is about to become the biggest single-language grosser at the Indian box office by beating Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. ## As Stree 2 is set to become the biggest grosser in India, it has created a new record of scoring 1+ crore net collection for 42 consecutive days. It has leapfrogged Vicky Kaushal's URI: The Surgical Strike which minted 1+ crore net for a continuous 41 days. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 has been blessed with almost open run to date with very limited non-threatening competition unlike other movies and it has taken full advantage of it by becoming the biggest grosser domestically and setting a record for the consecutive days of 1+ crore net along with many other records. ## In 42 days so far, the mega-blockbuster sequel has scored approximately 581.50 crores net (693.50 crores gross) domestically while overseas collection is an estimated 133 crore for the worldwide cume of 826+ crores gross. The movie was released in July of this year but became a box-office disaster. ## Despite the positive reviews, Sarfira grossed approximately 34 crores at the worldwide box office in its lifetime run. The makers are now hoping for a turnaround as they have announced the streaming release of the movie. ## On Thursday (September 26), Akshay Kumar took to social media and announced that Sarfira would start streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar on October 11 this year, 90 days after the theatrical release. Aamir is also producing Santoshi's Lahore 1947 which stars Sunny Deol in the lead role. ## According to Pinkvilla, Aamir and Rajkumar Santoshi have been in talks for a while now and they have finally picked a subject which is said to be an out-and-out comic caper, set against the backdrop of time-loop and it will be headlined by Aamir. ## The report further states that the movie in question also has a working title, Char Din Ki Zindagi which is in sync with the hilarious concept of the film, wherein the life of the protagonist is stuck in a time loop. ## Char Din Ki Zindagi is expected to be Aamir's immediate next film after currently on floors, Sitaare Zameen Par which is scheduled to hit the big screens early next year. Mumbai, September 23 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has been picked as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025, the Film Federation of India announced on Monday. ## The comedy-drama film, directed by Kiran Rao, tells the story of two young newly-wed brides who get exchanged during a train ride to their husband's homes. It stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan, in key roles.## Laapataa Ladies was released on March 1st this year amid positive critical reception. The movie did decently at the box office, grossing approximately 27.50 crores worldwide before emerging as a big success on streaming with over 17 million views.## The 13-member select committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided on Laapataa Ladies as India's Oscars 2025 entry. Mumbai, September 20 - The fourth instalment of the action thriller franchise Race is in the making with the shoot scheduled to begin early next year. Saif Ali Khan will make his comeback to the franchise in Race 4 with Sidharth Malhotra joining him this time. ## In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, writer of Race 4, Shiraz Ahmed, who also penned the first three films of the franchise, shared details about the upcoming movie. He has confirmed that Race 4 will go on floors in January 2025. ## Shiraz also confirmed that Sidharth Malhotra's casting is locked with Saif Ali Khan and the rest of the cast will be revealed by the producers Tips Films at the right time in a proper announcement. Meanwhile, the makers have gone back into the world of the first 2 Race movies to set up the next instalment. ## Writer Ahmed said that Race 4 will follow the events of Race 1 and Race 2 with some of the same characters along with new members. The horror comedy is scheduled to hit the big screen on November 1st and it will clash with another biggie, Singham Again starring Ajay Devgn. ## There has been a lot of buzz around the box office clash between BB3 and Singham 3, and it seemed Bazmee was not happy with it as BB3 was the first to lock a Diwali release in its pursuit of getting a solo release. It was recently reported that the BB3 team approached director Rohit Shetty to consider postponing the release of his cop drama. ## Bazmee said in a recent interview the BB3 and Singham Again releasing at the same weekend is a business decision taken by the producers and he doesn't want to interfere in this by asking Ajay Devgn and anyone else to reconsider their decision. However, the comments made by the filmmaker didn't go well with a section of the audience and now, he has issued a clarification on the same. ## "Some media personnel are misinterpreting my statement.
