Dhanush's Box Office Blockbuster 'Raayan' Sets Digital Release Date

Chennai, August 17 - Tamil star Dhanush's action thriller Raayan is all set to premiere digitally after the record-breaking box office performance. The movie is written, directed, and stars Dhanush in the leading role alongside Sundeep Kishan, Selvaraghavan, Kalidas Jayaram, and Dushara Vijayan, among others.## Released on July 26, the A-rated blockbuster is the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 so far with a worldwide box office collection of around 152 crores gross. The movie has been in theatres for more than three weeks and is now set for its digital release.## Produced by Sun Pictures, Raayan will premiere via Amazon Prime Video on August 23 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada, languages. Just like the previous Tamil movies, it will also have a 4 week theatrical window before its digital release.## The film follows Kathavaraayan "Raayan", a fast-food hotel owner in North Chennai, who begins to protect his family when they inadvertently get muddled in a war between two rival gangs. Varun Dhawan Joins Sunny Deol To Headline 'Border 2': Report

Mumbai, August 16 - Sunny Deol-fronted epic war drama Border 2 is easily one of the most-awaited Indian movies. The movie, which is the sequel to 1997's epic blockbuster Border, was announced earlier this year with Sunny returning to reprise his role and Anurag Singh taking the directorial duty. ## Recently, it was reported that Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh was roped in to play a prominent role in the movie and now, according to the report by Pinkvilla, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has signed on for Border 2 and the actor will headline the film along with Sunny Deol.## "Border 2 is the biggest film in Indian Cinema in the making, and the team is making it even bigger with the casting by getting Varun Dhawan to play a major role in the tale with Sunny Deol. Border franchise holds a special place in the heart of the audience, and the casting of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan in the sequel is sure to elevate the appeal even further", says the report.## The report further revealed that the shoot of Border 2 will commence in November this year and Varun is expected to join the filming after the release of his action thriller Baby John in December this year. The entire cast of the sequel, as revealed recently, will be announced by this month end of early September during an event.## Varun, meanwhile, is currently shooting for his director father David Dhawan's untitled comic caper and also has Dharma Productions' romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumar. Box Office: 'Khel Khel Mein' And 'Vedaa' Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 15 - Amid the box office juggernaut of Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer action drama Vedaa were battling it out to come second and it is the latter one which won the race by a fair margin.## According to the early estimates, the John Abraham-led scored in the range of 6.50-7 crores net on its opening day. It is a fair opening considering a 3-way clash. It was always going to be difficult for the movie to score due to Stree 2 which was easily the first choice of the moviegoers but Vedaa did decently overcome that challenge.## The occupancy of Vedaa showed improvement throughout the opening day, especially post-noon shows. The opening of the film is above the projections by a decent margin which can be seen as a good sign. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed and it needs to be seen how it fairs in the coming days.## Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein showed a significant improvement over the actor's last movie Sarfira but the overall opening remained low to the standard of Akshay who has continuously delivered very good starts at the box office.## According to the early estimates, the comedy-drama scored in the range of 5 crores net on its first day which is in sync with projections. The movie started slow in the morning shows but showed significant improvement post that with occupancy around 50%. ## The initial word of mouth for Khel Khel Mein seems to be okay and it should see improvement, especially on Saturday and Sunday which needs to be seen.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 15 - Maddock Films' horror-comedy Stree 2 has stormed the box office by taking one of the biggest openings of all time at the Indian box office. The movie is looking to score over 50 crores net collection on the first day, including previews. ## Apart from the monstrous start domestically, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted blockbuster is expected to emerge as the biggest overseas opener for the due. It has been released on over 1600 screens across 1250+ locations in 75+ countries. ## This makes it the biggest overseas release for Shraddha and Rajkummar and the biggest overseas Indian release in the horror-comedy genre. Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham-Starrer 'Vedaa' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, August 14 - Amid the juggernaut of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2, this Independence Day weekend will see Akshay Kumar-fronted Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa will fight it out to come second at the box office. ## Akshay returns to his forte comedy genre in which he has scored many successes but all are not the same this time. The actor is coming after a series of unsuccessful films and to turn the tide, he will have hope for a change in fortune and hope the film turns out to be a really good one. ## As said, the opening of Khel Khel Mein is expected to be low considering the pre-sales which are better than Akshay's last film Sarfira but overall remains low. As of 8 PM on August 14, the movie has sold approximately 29K tickets with approx. 1 crore gross for the opening day.## The final opening day pre-sales of the movie are expected to be in the range of 1.50 crores gross which indicates the opening in the range of 4-5 crores net. The Independence Day holiday will provide some boost but that is unlikely to make much difference to the overall opening. ## Vedaa reunites John Abraham with director Nikkhil Advani since Batla House (2019) which was also released on August 15. While Batla House scored a very good opening of 15+ crores net 5 years ago, things are a lot different this time around. ## The pre-sales of Vedaa are almost similar to Khel Khel Mein though it has sold more tickets (39K as of 8 PM) so far. The movie's opening is expected to be in the same range as Akshay-starrer, however, the action genre might attract more footfalls in mass centres which can boost the collection a little more. ## There is a long holiday period coming up, but Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa will need a unanimously positive reception from the audience to make the most of it, unlike Stree 2 which will open, at least, 3X of the combined total of the other two movies. ## Stay tuned...

Hyderabad, August 13 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR has wrapped up the entire filming for the highly-awaited Pan India action drama film Devara: Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva. It is the first movie of the actor since the mega-blockbuster, RRR in March 2022.## Jr. NTR took to social media platform X and shared the news as he wrote, "Just wrapped my final shot for Devara Part 1. What a wonderful journey it has been. I will miss the ocean of love and the incredible team. Can’t wait for everyone to sail into the world crafted by Siva on the 27th of September".## The film is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts. It stars Jr. NTR in the leading role alongside Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in their Telugu debut. Nag Ashwin's Next Directorial Is Not 'Kalki 2'

Hyderabad, August 13 - Telugu director Nag Ashwin teamed up with Pan India superstar Prabhas on Kalki 2898 AD which stormed the box office and has become one of the biggest Indian grossers of all time by topping 1000 crores worldwide. ## Kalki 2898 AD is the first installment in the planned Kalki universe but it seems the second film will take some time to get on the floors. The blockbuster filmmaker has announced his next film, tentatively titled Project S and has teamed up with the iconic production house AVM Productions for the same.## The details about the project are not revealed yet but the makers announced on social media that they are looking for associate directors based in Hyderabad for Project S. Interestingly, Kalki 2898 AD's working title was Project K and with his next being called Project S, the fans are drawing similarities. ## However, both the movies are unrelated as Prabhas-starrer was produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, another iconic production studio.
