Rajinikanth To End His Glorious Career After Multistarrer With Kamal Haasan and Two More Films?

Chennai, October 28 - Indian cinema legend Rajinikanth continues to be busy doing films at the age of 75 despite his age and health concerns. The superstar is currently shooting for director Nelson Dilipkumar's highly anticipated Jailer 2, which is scheduled to release next year. Rajinikanth has been doing films non-stop and travelling regularly for them. According to the latest reports in Tamil media, the legendary actor is planning to retire from cinema after a multistarrer film with another legend, Kamal Haasan. The big project with Kamal Haasan has already been confirmed by the duo themselves, but who will direct it is still not confirmed. Reports say that Nelson Dilipkumar has been assigned this mega duty to handle both legends, and the director has reportedly agreed to the same. It is said that Nelson is planning to take the film in 2027 as he needs more time for the script. The project will be produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International. As per Valaipechu, it will be Thalaivaar's final film before he bids goodbye to his glorious cinema career. Before the multistarrer, Rajinikant will reportedly do one more film with RKFI, and it will be directed by Sundar C. The announcement for the same is expected to be made in a couple of weeks. The superstar also has a film with Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala, for which the timeline is not fixed. As things stand today, Rajinikanth has at least 4 films in the pipeline, including Jailer 2, which is his immediate next. He reportedly wants his film with Kamal Haasan to be his swansong, marking a fitting farewell to his memorable career. Stay tuned...

Three Films, Three Blockbusters: Pradeep Ranganathan's Unstoppable Box Office Streak Continues With Dude

Chennai, October 27 - At a time when even top stars are struggling to deliver box office success, there comes a young actor, who debuted as a lead hero a couple of years back and is turning everything into gold he touches. Pradeep Ranganathan is having a dream run at the box office and has emerged as one of Tamil cinema's most bankable stars. The actor-filmmaker, who made his debut as a lead hero with the new-age romantic comedy Love Today in 2022, has now achieved a rare feat, which probably no one had before — three consecutive blockbusters in as many films. His latest outing, Dude, continues to dominate the box office, reaffirming his golden touch. It all began with Love Today, which struck a strong chord with youth audiences for its relatable story and modern take on relationships. The film went on to become a massive blockbuster, grossing around 84 crores worldwide — a staggering figure for a debutant actor. Pradeep not only headlined the film but also directed it, proving his versatility early in his career. He followed that success with Dragon, a coming-of-age comedy-drama that released earlier this year. The film exceeded all expectations, emerging as one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2025 with collections crossing 150 crores worldwide. With its emotional depth and youthful energy, Dragon cemented Pradeep's position as a crowd favourite. Now, Dude has turned the actor's success streak into a perfect hat-trick. Currently in its second week, the film has already grossed over 100 crores worldwide and continues to hold strong at the box office. With two 100 crore grossers among his first three films, Pradeep Ranganathan has set a new benchmark for young actors — becoming the first in Tamil cinema to achieve such success so early in his career. The young sensation has one more release to close the year. Director Vignesh Shivan's science fiction romantic comedy, Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), is scheduled to release on December 18, 2025. The buzz for the film is good, with promos released so far receiving big thumbs up from viewers. Stay tuned...

Dude Shines With Good Opening At The Worldwide Box Office: Biggest For Pradeep Ranganathan

Chennai, October 18: Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju's much-awaited romantic action comedy Dude has kicked off its theatrical journey on a good note, registering the biggest opening actors' career both in India and overseas. The Keerthiswaran's directorial grossed an impressive 11.50 crores in India on its opening day, including 6+ crores in Tamil Nadu, marking a new personal best for Pradeep. The number comfortably surpasses his previous highest opener Dragon, which had collected 7.60 crores on day one domestically. The good domestic turnout has been fueled by pre-release buzz, youthful appeal, and solid occupancy across Tamil Nadu and select multiplex circuits, aided by mixed to positive word of mouth. Globally, Dude extended its dominance by scoring 19.50 crores worldwide, again overtaking Dragon's 12.35 crores to become Pradeep Ranganathan's biggest opener to date. The good opening of Dude is another leap in Pradeep's short yet successful career. The film's mix of humour, emotion, and relatable storytelling has struck a chord with audiences, setting it up for a strong opening weekend. Pradeep Ranganathan's LIK Postponed To December 18, Averting Clash With Dude

Chennai, October 16 - Rising Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan was heading to lock horns with himself this Diwali with Dude and Love Insurance Kompany. However, in a major relief, the unwanted clash has been averted after the makers postponed LIK to December 18, 2025. Produced by Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio, LIK was announced for Diwali 2025 release along with Ranganathan's Dude (October 21), produced by AGS Entertainment. On Monday (October 6), the makers officially announced that LIK was postponed and it will now be released in December instead. While the actor has avoided the tricky situation for now, LIK won't be a solo outing in December either. It is already announced that James Cameron's highly-awaited Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled to hit the big screen on December 19, and it will be a major cinematic event at the Indian box office. Meanwhile, LIK is directed by Vignesh Shivan. The science fiction romantic comedy was initially announced untitled in 2019 with Sivakarthikeyan starring and Lyca Productions producing; however, it was shelved due to budget concerns. In 2023, the project was revived with Pradeep, and the official announcement by Seven Screen Studios was made in September that year. The movie, set in 2040, stars Pradeep Ranganathan, S. J. Suryah and Krithi Shetty in leading roles, while Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri G Kishan, Shah Ra, Malavika, Mysskin, Anandaraj and Sunil Reddy play supporting roles. Stay tuned...

Idli Kadai Takes Career Best Opening For Dhanush In Tamil Nadu

Chennai, October 2 - Tamil star Dhanush's action drama film Idly Kadai has taken a good start at the Indian box office, grossing approximately 13 crores. Unlike the previous few films, it has been the least hyped movie of Dhanush in recent times, yet it has managed to make a mark at the box office. Directed by Dhanush himself, Idli Kadai has become the biggest opener for the actor in the home state, Tamil Nadu, collecting approximately 10.75 crores gross. It has beaten Raayan, which scored 10.60 crores gross in the state on its first day last year. Idli Kadai was released amid low hype, but it got the holiday advantage, which propelled its opening to double digits and beyond, eventually creating a record for Dhanush in the state. Apart from Tamil Nadu, the movie minted approximately 1.25 crores in Karnataka and another 1 crore in the rest of India markets. The reception for the film is contrasting. While Tamil critics praised the film, reviews were opposite outside the home market. But as said, the movie got the appreciation when it mattered the most, and that should be enough for it to score a good opening weekend. Stay tuned...

Rajinikanth's Coolie Final Worldwide Box Office Collection, Records, and Verdict

Chennai, September 29 – Superstar Rajinikanth's mass entertainer Coolie has wrapped up its theatrical run at the global box office with mixed results. Despite a record opening and strong initial buzz, the film couldn't sustain the same momentum in the following weeks, leading to an average overall performance. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened to earth earth-shattering start of over 150 crores worldwide, before opening weekend collection of around 385 crores, both record numbers for Tamil cinema. However, poor critics' reviews and mixed word of mouth proved to be a roadblock in its promising theatrical run, which ended before its desired result. The gangster action drama was eyed as the potential 1000 crores grosser, but it could only manage a little over 500 crores worldwide. The final collection, however, is not a small total by any means, but the movie needed to score much more to be termed as a box office hit. The trade estimated that Coolie needed to score around 600 crores worldwide to break even. Here Is The Final Worldwide Box Office Breakdown of Coolie (Est.) India Net Box Office Collection₹ 285.00 Cr India Gross Box Office Collection₹ 338.00 Cr Overseas Box Office Collection₹ 180.50 Cr Worldwide Box Office Collection₹ 518.50 Cr India Footfalls/Admits1.80 Cr approx. In terms of audience reach, Coolie recorded approximately 1.80 crore (estimated) footfalls in India, a decent turnout but considerably lower compared to Rajinikanth’s biggest blockbuster, Jailer. The film opened huge, even scoring one of the biggest debuts of the year, but it lost the plot in the coming weeks, which curtailed its long-run potential. Given the huge pre-release business and expectations riding on it, the film's outcome has been tagged as a below-average to average verdict at the box office. While not a disaster, Coolie couldn't replicate the superstar's past blockbuster highs and will be remembered as a film that started big but settled for a modest finish in the end. Stay tuned...

Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi Struggles To Reach 100 Crore Worldwide

Chennai, September 15 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's psychological action thriller Madharaasi was released amid decent hype, but it surprised everyone by opening to better-than-expected collection at the worldwide box office. However, things haven't gone as planned since then for the movie. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Madharaasi had a good opening weekend worldwide with approximately 62 crores. At that point, the movie looked like a sure-shot blockbuster, but after the opening weekend, the pace had slowed down, as the movie had been struggling to reach 100 crores globally. In the second weekend, the maiden collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Murugadoss has managed to gross only 10-11 crores worldwide, dropping by a huge over 80% from the first frame. The film's total collection through the second frame (10 days) is around 91 crores gross, including around 67 crores in India. Madharaasi will still be able to cross 100 crores worldwide, but it will take a lot of effort for the film to reach there. A milestone, which looked inevitable at one point, has become a mountain to climb. The early word of mouth suggested a positive reception, but the sharp downward trend has dampened the momentum. Much now depends on whether the film can stabilise during the weekdays and attract audiences to go beyond the century mark. Stay tuned...

Pongal 2026 Showdown: Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi Joins The Festive Race Against Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan

Chennai, September 12 - The Tamil cinema is bracing up for a major box office showdown on Pongal 2026 after Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited period political drama film Parashakti confirms indirect clash with Thalapathy Vijay's swan song Jana Nayagan. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parashakti is reportedly based on true events, revolving around the Anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu that happened in 1965. On Friday (September 12), the makers announced that this much-awaited movie will be hitting worldwide cinemas on January 14, 2026, coinciding with the Pongal festival. Produced by Dawn Pictures, Parashakti was initially supposed to be headlined by Suriya, who backed out for some reason. It has Sreeleela as the female lead, alongside Ravi Mohan, who plays the antagonist. The film also stars Rana Daggubati, Atharvaa, Basil Joseph, and others. Parashakti will be released four days after Thalapathy Vijay's final film Jana Nayagan, before his political entry. Both movies are political thrillers, which are expected to score big box office numbers, and might also invite criticism for their genre. 💥💥💥😊👍 pic.twitter.com/jrljjJv98U— Sivakarthikeyan (@Siva_Kartikeyan) September 12, 2025 Stay tuned...

Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi vs Amaran Box Office: State-Wise Opening Weekend Comparison

Chennai, September 8 - The rising Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's psychological action thriller film Madharaasi opened in the worldwide cinemas this weekend. Despite the low buzz, the film managed to make a mark at the box office with a good collection in India and overseas. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Madharaasi marks his maiden collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan and a reunion with Vidyut Jammwal. The film opened to mostly positive reviews in the home market, particularly in Tamil Nadu, and a mixed reception elsewhere, which was also reflected in its opening weekend business. Madharasi scored a hat-trick of double-digit scores in Tamil Nadu, even though the trend remained on the downward side. After opening to over 12+ crores gross, the film scored 11 crores on Saturday and around 10.50 crores on Sunday to close the opening weekend with approximately 34 crores gross in the state. Overall, Madharaasi grossed approximately 43 crores opening weekend in India, which is the second biggest for Sivakarthikeyan after Amaran, which minted big 95+ crores in its 4-day weekend in 2024. Overseas, the latest blockbuster has scored an estimated 20 crores gross, pushing its worldwide collection to around 63 crores. In comparison, Amaran had scored 140 crores worldwide. While the opening weekend collections of Madharasi are respectable, it becomes crucial for the film to hold well in the coming days to emerge as a box office hit. Despite the positive reviews, the downward trend in the home state could be a concern for the film, and it needs to be seen how it fares during the weekdays. It was recently reported that Lokesh has narrated a script to both the Indian cinema legends, and now, the official confirmation straight from the horse's mouth has already sent waves of excitement across the film industry and among fans who have been waiting for decades to see the two legends share the screen again. Madharaasi Box Office: Sivakarthikeyan Scores His Second Biggest Opener Worldwide; Solid In Tamil Nadu

Chennai, September 6 – Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited psychological action-drama Madharaasi has taken a good start at the worldwide box office, registering the actor's second-best opening day collections to date. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, arrived with high expectations and good pre-release buzz, which translated into impressive footfalls on its first day. Madharaasi collected over 21 crores gross worldwide, making it the second-biggest opener for Sivakarthikeyan after Amaran (34.70 crores). In India, Madharasi scored around 16 crores, including 12+ gross in Tamil Nadu. This also makes it Siva's second biggest opener in India as well as in his home state. The film witnessed strong occupancy across major cities, while Tier-2 centres also contributed significantly to the overall numbers. The movie had good advance booking trends, thanks to the late push ahead of release, which set the stage for a good start, coupled with Sivakarthikeyan’s growing popularity among family and youth audiences. The festive weekend and positive initial word of mouth are expected to further boost collections in the coming days. If the momentum continues, Madharaasi has the potential to become one of the highest-grossing films in Sivakarthikeyan's career. Early audience reactions highlight the film's gripping storyline, mass appeal, and the lead cast's power-packed performance as the major driving factors behind its opening. With competition from other Tamil releases being limited this week, Madharaasi enjoys a clear run at the box office and is likely to post robust numbers through the weekend. It can also prove to be a solid comeback for director Murugadoss, after the failure of Sikandar, if momentum sustains. Stay tuned...
