Box Office: KGF Chapter 2 Crosses 350 Crores Net In Hindi

Mumbai, April 30 - The new Bollywood releases on the Eid 2022 weekend were supposed to challenge "KGF Chapter 2" which is running riot at the Hindi box office. However, the lukewarm response to "Runway 34", and "Heropanti 2" has confirmed that KGF Chapter 2 will have another solid weekend at the box office. ## The Yash-fronted period action drama film did not lose grip and scored a solid third Friday (16th day) at the Hindi box office with 4.25 crores net. This takes the movie past 350 crores net (353.06cr), which is the second-fastest ever in Hindi. SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2 The Conclusion" still remains the fastest to reach the milestone of 350 crores net, in just 12 days. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF 2" is only the third film ever to cross 350 crores net in Hindi, and now, it is well and truly on to become only the second film to reach 400 crores, after "Baahuabli 2". With Eid falling on Monday, "KGF 2" will surely get the benefit of it and might score double-digit numbers on third Sunday and Monday.## In all probability, "KGF Chapter 2" will surpass Aamir Khan's "Dangal" lifetime Hindi net collection of 374.43 crores by the third Monday and will become the second-biggest movie in Hindi at the domestic box office. Mumbai, April 30 - Ajay Devgn, and Tabu-fronted "Drishyam 2" has a new addition in the form of Akshaye Khanna. "Drishyam 2" is the Hindi remake of the Mohanlal-starrer 2021 Malayalam movie of the same name, and it also features Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta in key roles. ## The story of "Drishyam 2" takes place six years after the events of Drishyam (2015). The original movie chronicled the story of a family of four whose lives turned upside down following an unfortunate incident with their older daughter. ## Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the sequel will see Ajay Devgn reprising his role as Vijay Salgoankar. Tabu, who started filming for the movie earlier this week, will return as Meera Deshmukh, Inspector General of Police, Goa. Shriya Saran returns as the wife of Vijay Salgoankar and Ishita Dutta as their daughter. ## The sequel is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak under the banners of T-Series and Panorama Studios in association with Viacom18 Studios. Rohit Shetty, Reliance Entertainment Join Hands To Produce The Biopic Of Mumbai's Former Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Maria

Mumbai, April 30 - Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's admiration for Indian police forces is no hidden secret to anyone. Known for his famous cop universe (Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi), the maverick filmmaker has now joined hands with Reliance Entertainment to produce the biopic of Mumbai's one of the most revered top cops and former commissioner of police, Rakesh Maria. ## As deputy commissioner of police (traffic) in 1993, Rakesh Maria cracked the Bombay serial blasts case. He was later deputy commissioner of police (crime) and then joint commissioner of police (crime), of the Mumbai police.## Maria solved the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar twin blasts case, arresting six persons, including a couple for planting the explosive devices inside taxis. He was also given the responsibility of investigating the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008. He interrogated Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive, and successfully investigated the case. Kasab was executed by hanging in 2012. ## The biopic will be based on Maria's 2020 memoir "Let Me Say it Now" and will be mentored by Shetty himself. The cast and the director of the film are yet to be finalized. ## Rohit Shetty said, "Rakesh Maria, the man who stared terror in the face for 36 years. His incredible journey spans all the way from the 1993 blasts in Mumbai, the underworld menace, to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008. Mumbai, April 29 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan released the first song 'Kahani' from his upcoming social comedy-drama film "Laal Singh Chaddha". The superstar kept the audience guessing about Kahani before he finally unveiled the song on Thursday (April 28). ## "Laal Singh Chaddha" is an Indian adaptation of Tom Hanks-fronted "Forrest Gump". Directed by Advait Chandan, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya in key roles. Aamir took to a unique way to unveil the song 'Kahani' as he reached RedFM studio on Thursday to talk about the song along with his daughter Ira Khan. ## During the conversation with RedFM, Aamir was asked whose opinion matters the most to him when it comes to his work, Aamir said his mother's. He said, "My mother gives well-thought-out responses. When she doesn't like something, she says, 'Get it away from me, what have you made'. She's very cute in the way she says it". ## The "Dangal" star further revealed the precious reaction of his mother to "Laal Singh Chaddha" and said that she loved the movie and asked not to change anything. Amazon Prime Video Scores Post Theatrical Streaming Deals With Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, Excel Entertainment & Ajay Devgn

Mumbai, April 28 - Amazon Prime Video has revealed its mega plans for Indian audiences for the next couple of years. The streaming giant announced at an event in Mumbai that at least 40+ original Indian shows and movies are currently in development at the studio and will be released in the next 24 months. ## Apart from original titles, Prime Video also inked exclusive post-theatrical streaming deals with big Bollywood banners. During the covid-19 pandemic, Prime Video has been a home of the most the Indian movies for the direct OTT and post-theatrical releases.## Among the top partnership, Amazon scored a huge deal with Yash Raj Films for its five mega-budgeted films that are scheduled to release in the next 12 months. This partnership will officially be kicked off with Ranveer Singh's "Jayeshbhai Jordaar", which is slated to release on May 13th and will end on the blockbuster "Tiger 3", starring superstar Salman Khan.## The five YRF movies are as follows with their theatrical release dates - Jayeshbhai Jordaar (13th May), Prithviraj (3rd June), Shamshera (20th July), Pathaan (25th Jan 2023), and Tiger 3 (21st April 2023). As reported earlier, Prime Video has paid a whopping price to acquire post-theatrical streaming rights of the aforementioned movies.## The second big post-theatrical streaming deal is with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. Prime Video will stream Excel's five movies after they complete their theatrical run. These movies are - Phone Bhoot, Yudhra, Jee Le Zara, Fukrey 3, and Kho Gaye Hain Hum Kahan. ## Apart from YRF and Excel, the streamer also stikes 4 films deal with Ajay Devgn, which includes his latest "Runway 34". Apart from "Runway 34", the social comedy film "Thank God" (July 2022), the action thriller "Bhola" (Feb. 2023), and the thriller "Drishyam 2" will also be premiered on Prime Video after big-screen release. ## Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has already tested success with Prime Video with direct OTT release of its two movies, "Shershaah", and "Gehraiyaan". The top Bollywood production studio has now signed a deal with a streamer for the post-theatrical release of its 3 movies. ## The studio behind many blockbuster family entertainers will release its "Jug Jugg Jeeyo" (June 2022), "Govinda Naam Mera" (July 2022), and "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" (Feb. 2023) after completing their theatrical run. Dharma Productions has signed a deal with Prime Video for the post-theatrical release of its three upcoming movies. ## The studio behind many blockbuster family entertainers will release its "Jug Jugg Jeeyo", "Govinda Naam Mera", and "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" after completing their theatrical run. The announcement was made during an event in Mumbai today (April 28), in which two companies also joined hands for 1 direct OTT release and 4 wen shows. ## "Jug Jugg Jeeyo", which is directed by Raj Mehta, is a comedy-drama film starring Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kiara Advani in the lead roles alongside Prajakta Koli and Manish Paul. Produced by Dharma Productions, and Viacom18 Studios, the movie is slated to release in June this year. ## Director Shashank Khaitan's romantic-comedy "Govinda Naam Mera" will also be streaming on Prime Video after completing its theatrical run. It stars Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. It is slated to release later this year. ## Among the three movies, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" is the most-awaited film that marks Karan Johar's directorial return after a long gap. Prime Video, on Wednesday (April 28), made the announcement during an event in Mumbai, in which the streamer disclosed its upcoming shows and title. ## Ajay Devgn's thriller movie, "Runway 34", which is releasing tomorrow (April 29), will stream on Prime Video, mostly after 28 days of its theatrical run. Apart from it, the superstar has also tied up with the OTT platform for "Thank God", "Bhola", and "Drishyam 2". ## "Thank God", directed by Indra Kumar, is a social comedy film that is scheduled to release later this year. Mumbai, April 27 - Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn is returning to the big screen as a lead hero for the first time since "Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior" with "Runway 34". The actor has played cameos in the recently released box office hits such as "Soorayavanshi", "Gangubai Kathiawadi", and "RRR". ## "Runway 34", produced and directed by Ajay Devgn, also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar, and Aakanksha Singh in key roles. The film is inspired by the true event of the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight 9W 555, a Boeing 737–800 aircraft that had a narrow escape on 18 August 2015, after facing difficulties in landing at the Cochin International Airport due to bad weather and unclear visibility at 5:45 in the morning.## The movie, co-produced by Panorama Studios, is scheduled to release on April 29 on the occasion of Eid. The makers held a special screening of the movie in Mumbai yesterday and it received a positive response.
