Chennai, October 12 - Tamil star 'Chiyaan' Vikram has done with all the promotional activities for Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1, which turned out to be the biggest grosser of his career. The multi-starrer period action drama is only the third Tamil movie ever to gross 400 crores at the worldwide box office. ## Chiyaan Vikram is now set to start his next film, tentatively referred to as Chiyaan 61 with director Pa Ranjith. The movie was announced some time back and as per the reports, the test shoot for the film has begun today and the first schedule of shooting is being planned to kickstart in the next couple of days.## "Chiyaan 61" is touted to be the next big thing in the Kollywood film industry. Produced by Gnanavel Raja under the banner of Studio Green, the movie is generating a lot of curiosity among the audience despite knowing that it hasn't started the shoot yet. ## Pa Ranjith is known for his unique cinema and as per him, his film with Vikram will be an interesting world and will give assurance to a community that has been searching for it for a long time. It is said to be a period drama set in Kolar gold fields in the 1800s. After announcing the said numbers with an official poster, the audience, and the trade people started trolling the makers for allegedly exaggerating box office data.## Amid the allegations about manipulating numbers, producer NV Prasad has now announced in a press release that the movie has grossed 60 crores Share collection in Telugu states while the overseas collection is also very good, including $1.1 million in the USA. ## He said that the movie wasn't sold to others and was released by their own banners and also talk about the film's Hindi collection. "There are amazing collections everywhere. The film was not sold to anyone, we released our own. Revenue is very strong. The collections are amazing and beyond our expectations. Mumbai, October 12 - Akshay Kumar-fronted action adventure Ram Setu is one of the most-awaited films and the trailer of the same was launched on October 11. The film, directed by Abhishek Sharma, is set in 2007 and it follows an archeologist who is investigating the nature of Ram Setu, known in English as Adam's Bridge.## The trailer has received a good response from the audience on YouTube. It was launched in Hindi along with Tamil and Telugu and clocked over 25 million views in the first 24 hours. The Hindi trailer scored 22.8 million views while Telugu and Tamil trailers, which were launched a few hours later, clocked 1.4 million and 1.1 million, respectively. ## The response to the "Ram Setu" trailer is good but as compared to Akshay Kumar's recent films, the response is mixed. The "Bachchhan Paandey" trailer had got 31+ million views in the first 24 hours while "Samrat Prithviraj" scored 44+ million, which is the highest ever for an Akshay Kumar movie during the said time. The actor will be sharing screen space with Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezan Jafri, and Yash Dasgupta in the lead role while it also stars Anaswara Rajan, Warina Hussain, and Priya Varrier in key roles. ## Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru of "Sanam Teri Kasam" fame have been attached to direct Yaariyan 2. The first film of the franchise, which was directed by Divya Khosla, starred Himansh Kohli, Rakul Preet Singh, and Nicole Faria in the lead roles.## The movie will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, and Aayush Maheshwari under the banners of T-Series and BLM Pictures. It arrived way early on the streamer than the original plans, mostly because of its low performance at the box office where it grossed approx. 134 crores worldwide. ## On Netflix, "Laal Singh Chaddha" was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide in its opening weekend. It scored 6.63 million viewing hours in the first three days and was the most-watched Indian movie during the week (October 3 - 9) on Netflix. The reception on the streamer is largely positive and the word of mouth spreading at a rapid pace. ## Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios in association with Paramount Pictures, LSC is a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump which itself is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The "Multiverse Saga" has been confirmed to end the Marvel Studios' multiverse saga but there are delays in plans after recent development at the studio. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios/Disney has pushed back the release dates of its major films, including "Secret Wars". It is said that Blade, which was supposed to release on November 3, 2023, will now be hitting theaters on September 6, 2024. The movie was to start production in 2022, but the search for the director is still on and the production has been delayed to early 2023. ## The delay in "Blade" production has created a cascade in Marvel's schedule. The untitled Deadpool 3 movie is moving to November 8, 2024, from September 6, 2024. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and has brought Hugh Jackman out of retirement as Wolverine. It has Shawn Levy set as a director.## Fantastic Four has been pushed back several months to February 14, 2025, back from November 8, 2024. 2022 Becomes The First Year To Have Five Indian Movies In 400 Crores Club Worldwide

Mumbai, October 11 - It has been a record-breaking year for the Indian film industry which has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters of all time. There were a lot of doubts about how the movies will perform at the box office in the post-pandemic era, and now, all the questions have been answered, however, complete normalcy at the box office is yet to be achieved. ## On the brighter side of the picture, 2022 has become the first ever year for the Indian film industry to have five films in the 400 crores at the worldwide box office. This has never happened before in Indian cinema where as many as films scored 400 crores globally. The previous highest 400 crores grossing film count in a single year was 4 which was achieved in 2018. ## SS Rajamouli's global blockbuster RRR was the first to achieve this feat this year in March. It went on to gross over 1100 crores worldwide, before Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 outshined it and grossed more than 1200 crores in April and became the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time. ## The third film in the 400 crores club this year was Kamal Haasan's biggest blockbuster Vikram, which was released in June. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Vikram" was a surprise entry into the 400 crores club and finished at approx. 414 crores. ## Director Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra Part One: Shiva was the next on the list and currently stands at approx. 430 crores while Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 is the latest entry in this quoted box office club with around 410 crores so far. The current combined gross total of all five films is 3570 crores.## Industry-wise, Tamil cinema is leading the 400 crore club in 2022 with 2 films ("Vikram", and "PS-1") while one each belongs to Telugu ("RRR"), Kannada ("KGF 2"), and Hindi ("Brahmastra"). The common thing among these five films is that all these films result in multiple languages though only "RRR" and "KGF 2" scored higher numbers in other languages. ## In 2018, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's "2.0" (744 cr.), Ranbir Kapoor's "Sanju" (588 cr.), Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's "Padmaavat" (585 cr.), and Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer "Andhadhun" (438 cr.) had scored 400+ crores at the worldwide box office. Los Angeles, October 11 - The re-release of James Cameron's all-time biggest grosser Avatar (2009) has put up super impressive figures at the worldwide box office, further straightening its sequel's box office potential. ## The sci-fi epic was re-released a couple of weeks ago worldwide and has so far grossed approx. $72 million worldwide. The 4K remastered version of the film brings dazzling results at the box office as it was re-released on fewer screens than the other recent re-releases but has scored way higher than those films. ## The movie was re-released in 51 international markets (without China) along with the USA. It grossed $23.3 million in the USA and $48.6 million over its two weeks of reissue.
