Mumbai, July 11 - Marvel/Disney's Thor: Love and Thunder packed a solid punch with a very good extended opening weekend at the Indian box office, becoming another Marvel tentpole to open big in the country. ## The Chris Hemsworth-starrer superhero movie, despite the mixed talks, scored a brilliant 82 crores gross ($10.3 million) over the first 4-days weekend. The movie opened to 23.11 crores gross on Thursday but slipped 37% on Friday to 14.47 crores. At this time, it looked like the movie is getting affected due to the mixed WOM, but it was not that case as it jumped again on Saturday and Sunday for 21.23 crores and 23.36 crores gross, respectively. ## The English version of "Thor 4" is leading the charge at the Indian BO with 54.67 crores gross in 4 days, followed by the Hindi version with 23.24 crores. The other versions, including Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada scored approx. 4.10 crores gross. India was the fifth biggest international contributor to "Thor 4's" collection on the opening weekend.## Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor 4" has become the highest-grossing Thor movie in India, crossing the lifetime collection of "Thor: Ragnarok", which scored approx. 75 crores gross in 2017. It is currently the 17th highest-grossing Hollywood movie in India but is likely to finish under the top 10. Bengaluru, July 11 - Kichcha Sudeep's long-awaited action-adventure film, Vikrant Rona is gearing up to hit worldwide screens on July 28. The movie has created a very good buzz around it and looking all set to take a big opening at the box office. ## The multilingual movie, directed by Anup Bhandari, is one of the biggest Kannada movies of the year, and very rightly, the makers are putting all their efforts to release the movie on the maximum number of screens all over India. After "KGF 2", it could be the biggest Kannda release ever as it is also expected to get good screens for other languages too, especially Hindi which will be presented by superstar Salman Khan. ## Meanwhile, the makers are similarly targeting to grab as many screens as possible outside the domestic market. Los Angeles, July 11 - After a long delay, the 4th installment of Thor - Thor: Love and Thunder, starring Chris Hemsworth in the title role, was released in theaters over the last weekend. Taika Waititi returned to direct his second Thor movie and also re-introduces Jane Foster after being sidelined since 2014's "Thor: The Dark World".## "Thor: Love and Thunder", however, is not being loved by the critics while the audience reception is also mixed. The critics' score of the latest Thor movie is almost similar to the second movie in the franchise, "Thor: The Dark World", with 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. Thor 2 has a 66% critics' score. ## Regardless of what critics are saying, "Thor 4" put up a thunderous show at the domestic as well as international box office, scoring a mighty $303 million globally, which is the 3rd highest weekend for any Hollywood movie during the pandemic and the 2nd best of 2022, behind "Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness".## At the domestic (North America) box office, "Thor: Love and Thunder" scored the biggest opening weekend as compared to each of the previous three Thor movies with $144 million. Previously, "Thor: Ragnarok" had the record of the biggest opening in this Marvel franchise with $122.7 million in the first weekend in 2017. ## Interestingly, the box office of this superhero franchise has witnessed growth with each movie from their previous movie. The first Thor movie was released in 2011 with a domestic opening weekend of $65.7 million. Later when "Thor: The Dark World" was released in 2013, it outscored the first movie by collecting $85.7 million while "Thor: Ragnarok" carried this trend in 2017 followed by "Thor 4". ## The future of "Thor: Love and Thunder" might go with the "Doctor Strange 2" way. Mumbai, July 10 - Marvel Studios-backed fourth installment of Thor - Thor: Love and Thunder take home a thunderous $302 million from its worldwide opening weekend box office. ## The global total of "Thor 4" includes $143 million in North America and a mighty $159 million internationally. The domestic opening weekend of the superhero flick slightly came lower than the industry's projection of $150M-$170M but performed way better overseas by coming ahead of the projection. ## "Thor: Love and Thunder" is one of the lowest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe movies of all time with a critics' score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that did not come in its way to differ its target at the domestic box office. Internationally as well, the movie is having the mixed word of mouth but still performed the way Marvel movies should do. ## Korea has led "Thor 4's" international run with $15.3 million in the opening weekend, followed by the United Kingdom with $14.8 million. Now, according to the reports, Raut has been approached to direct another mega movie, "Shaktimaan". ## According to a news portal, Om Raut has been approached to direct "Shaktimaan", which might have Ranveer Singh in the title role. Ranveer has reportedly shown interest in playing Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri aka Shaktimaan. Bengaluru, July 9 - The heartwarming tale between a man and a dog in a little movie called "777 Charlie" is now worth Rs. 100 crores. ## The Rakshit Shetty-starrer adventure comedy-drama film was an underdog at the box office before its release on June 10 but packed a solid punch once it came out in cinemas. Directed by Kiranraj K., "777 Charlie" has crossed the 100 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office on its 30th day and becomes the second Kannada movie of 2022 to do so. ## The film never scored over-the-top collection at any point in its run so far but managed to put up a consistent show at the box office as it never went off track, resulting in a mega-blockbuster performance. It is, as said before, one of the most profitable Kannada movies of all time. ## After "KGF: Chapter 2" in April, "777 Charlie" was another Kannada movie that had a Pan India release. While "KGF 2" performed extraordinarily in other languages apart from the original Kannada version, the Rakshit Shetty-starrer mainly scored in the Kannada version with over 65 crores net. Mumbai, July 9 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for his first release in the form of Shamshera since "Sanju" (2018), on July 22 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The Karan Malhotra-directed period action drama film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in prominent roles along with others. ## Meanwhile, two weeks ahead of the big release, Yash Raj Films has completed the censorship formalities. As expected, the movie has received a 'U/A' certificate, and the runtime approved for the theatrical release is 158 minutes (2 hours 38 minutes).## "Shamshera", which is YRF's last film in its pending slot, and to everyone's surprise, it is looking like the best bet yet for the production studio. The previous three YRF films couldn't do well at the box office, however, with "Shamshera", the studio is looking to get its first hit and there is enough indication for the same. ## The movie was launched officially in 2018, nearly a month before "Sanju's" worldwide release in June. Principal photography began in December 2018. For the film, a massive fort was built at Film City, Goregaon, requiring 2 months of preparation and the effort of nearly 300 workers. The filming ended in September 2020. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, which started spreading in Dec. 2020, the release of "Shamshera" was postponed multiple times, and finally, after nearly two years, it is seeing the light of the day. ## The story of Shamshera is set in the fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved, and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shudh Singh. This is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader, and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe's freedom and dignity. His name is Shamshera.
