Marvel Studios 'Doctor Strange 2' Locks Final Release Date In India

Mumbai, February 14 - Marvel Studios' next big feature, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" has finalized the release date for the Indian audience. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, the highly-awaited superhero movie will debut in theaters on May 6, 2022, in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ## On Monday (Feb. 14), Marvel released the full trailer of the sequel of the 2016's film. It is the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that explores the multiverse concept, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home". "Doctor Strange 2", however, takes deep into the concept where things become messier than "No Way Home". ## In the latest trailer, one can see that Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme is under attack from all sides after he opened that gate of the multiverse in "No Way Home", which goes wrong as several monstrous beings invade the MCU. To deal with that he seeks the help of Scarlet Witch played by Elizabeth Oleson, however, it is not as easy as it looks. ## Meanwhile, "Doctor Strange 2" is rumored to have many cameos including Captain Marvel. In one of the clips of the trailer, it looks like Captain Marvel is fighting Scarlet Witch. Among the other possible cameos, previously Fox-owned characters like X-Men may debut in MCU with the Multiverse of Madness. The rumors have also stated that Tom Cruise plays a cameo as Iron Man in this blockbuster sequel. ## The movie is being directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron. On Sunday, the Tanhaji actor took up some questions between the takes of his current project. ## In the video shared on Twitter, Ajay almost confirmed the 3rd installment of the blockbuster Singham. When he was asked "Would you rather remake a film or do a sequel?", Ajay responded "make a sequel" and gestured 3 with his fingers, referring to the Singham trilogy with Singham music playing in the background. ## The first film in the "Singham" franchise was released in 2011, followed by its sequel, "Singham Returns" in 2014. Written and directed by Rohit Shetty, both the Singham films became superhits and set to the tone of Shetty's cop-universe with "Simmba" and "Sooryavanshi". Mumbai, February 13 - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 94th Academy Awards on Tuesday (Feb. 8). Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer "The Power of the Dog" led the show with 12 nominations, including the Best Picture. ## This year, the Best Picture category includes 10 films - "The Power of the Dog", "CODA", "Belfast ", "Dune", "King Richard", "West Side Story", "Don't Look Up", "Drive My Car", "Licorice Pizza", and Nightmare Alley. Among these films, "Dune" is one of the highest-rated movies of 2021 while "Don't Look Up" is on the other side, though it has been hailed for its subject. ## It remains to see which film begs Oscars for the Best Picture, but analysts are predicting that it could be between "Dune", and "Power of The Dog", two of the top-rated movies. On IMDb, "Dune's" rating is 8.1 while "Power of The Dog" is rated with 6.9 ratings. ## Meanwhile, IMDb has released the list of top 10 highest-rated Best Picture Oscars winning movies of all time. "The Godfather" (1972), based on Puzo's best-selling 1969 novel of the same name, lends at the number position with IMDb ratings of 9.2. The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards at the 47th Academy Awards and went on to win 6 of them. "The Godfather Part II" also became the first sequel to win the Best Picture Oscar. ## Tom Hanks' comedy-drama "Forrest Gump", which is also being remade in Hindi as "Lal Singh Chadha", starring superstar Aamir Khan, had won the 6 Oscars including Best Picture at the 67th Academy Awards. Los Angeles, February 13 - Gal Gadot-starrer murder mystery film "Death on the Nile", took an underwhelming start at the domestic box office with $5.1 million on Friday, followed by Jennifer Lopez-Owen Wilson romantic comedy "Marry Me" with $3 million at number 2. ## Disney and 20th Century Studios' "Death on the Nile", based on the famous Agatha Christie novel, is heading towards $12.7 million in its opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The opening of the film, however, is only half as much as the opening day gross of its predecessor "Murder on the Orient Express" ($10.7 million) in 2017, which went on to score $102 million domestic gross. ## The Kenneth Branagh-directed cost $90 million in production, and Hollywood trade experts believe that the movie will find it tough to recover the production cost. The movie has faced several delays due to the covid-19 pandemic while the production of the film was greenlit shortly after the release of "Murder on the Orient Express". ## According to Variety, the box office fate of "Death on the Nile" may have seemed prewritten for quite some time now. Many of Disney's projects rooted in the Fox era have been perceived as disappointments, with films like "West Side Story", "The Last Duel" and "The King's Man" coming up short at the box office.## The film is the third screen adaptation of Christie's novel, following the 1978 film and an episode of the television series Agatha Christie's Poirot broadcast in 2004. Mumbai, February 12 - Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer "Badhaai Do" has been cleared to release in the United Arab Emirates, however, it will not be screened in Sharjah. ## "Badhaai Do", which revolves around a lavender wedding of convenience, has been permitted to screen only night shows in the rest of the parts of the UAE apart from Sharjah, for people aged over 21 years. ## The LGBTQ+ theme movies and shows are not acceptable in Middle East countries. Last year, Marvel Studios' "Eternals", directed by Chloe Zhao, was banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Jordan, because of the refusal of its makers to delete certain gay-themed scenes. The UAE, however, had allowed the film's release. ## Although 'Badhaai Do' has no obvious expressions of same-sex love, as in the case of the 'Eternals' characters Ben and Phastos kissing each other, it clearly has an LGBTQ+ theme, which is not acceptable in the Middle East.## In an interview with PTI, "Badhaai Do" director Hashvardhan Kulkarni said that the film is an attempt to normalize the discourse around the queer community and break certain stereotypes attached with their representation in cinema.## Produced by Junglee Pictures, "Badhaai Do", which is the sequel to 2018's "Badhaai Ho", released theatrically on February 11.## Stay tuned...

Los Angeles, February 12 - The recently announced nominations for the 94th Academy Awards are being criticized for not picking "Spider-Man: No Way Home", in the Best Picture category. Despite being hailed critically and doing wonders at the box office, "No Way Home" was nominated only for the Best Visual Effects category. ## Jimmy Kimmel called out on Academy on Tuesday's late-night episode and argued that the biggest snub was the movie everyone is going to see, even Academy voters. He also said that "Don't Look Up" was not worthy to be picked for a Best Picture nomination. ## "The biggest snub today in my opinion, and I'm actually even angry about this, I'm kind of embarrassed to say, is the unforgivable omission of Spider-Man: No Way Home", he said. "You're telling me Don't Look Up was better than Spider-Man? It certainly was not", he argued. Kimmel wondered how "No Way Home" didn't get one of the ten nominations this year and called it a "great" movie. ## Among the other people who are not happy with "Spider-Man: No Way Home's" Best Picture snub is director Kevin Smith. On his podcast, FatMan Beyond (via Deadline), Smith did not say which of the ten should be eliminated to make way for Spider-Man.## "I would just like to congratulate the good folks who made Spider-Man: No Way Home for the very deserved Best Picture nomination that I'm sure it got, I didn't read the nods", he said at first, before doing a spit take when he was informed it did not.## "What the f—! They got 10 slots, they can't give one to the biggest f—–g movie of, like, the last three years?" He said it was unfathomable, given that the Oscars ratings are dropping. "Like f—–g make a populist choice, f—, man. You got how many slots? Throw in Spider-Man for God's sakes; let him swing in there. F—–g poor kid's always getting crapped on and s—. The action entertainer's dream Hindi box office run continued in its 8th week, earning Rs. 2.76 crores. ## Directed by Sukumar, the "Pushpa - The Rise" Hindi collection after the 8th week has climbed to Rs. 104.02 crores. It is currently the 88th highest-grossing Hindi film at the Indian box office. Over its 8th week run, the film crossed Ajay Devgn-fronted films "Bol Bachchan" (103.12 crores), and "Raid" (103.07 crores). ## According to the available box office data, "Pushpa - The Rise" has become the 3rd biggest earner at the Hindi box office in the 8th week, after "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" (Rs. 4.10 crores), and "Uri: The Surgical Stike" (Rs. 3.83 crores). While the other two movies were outright Bollywood films, "Pushpa" is a dubbed version, proving how strong the film has performed, surpassing all the expectations. ## So what are the further expectations from "Pusha" in Hindi? Mumbai, February 12 - The covid-19 pandemic is taking a huge toll on Tom Cruise's long-awaited "Mission Impossible 7" movie. The pandemic has not only forced the makers to push the release multiple times but has also pushed the production budget of this high octane actioner to a whole new level. ## Tom Cruise has performed some of the death-defying stunts in "Mission: Impossible 7", and one of such stunts is, actor driving his motorcycle off a cliff in Norway. Director Christopher McQuarrie said during CinemaCon last year that it was the most dangerous thing he has attempted and Cruise admitted saying that he wanted to do such things since his childhood. ## However, to film those stunts have proved costly for Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media, as the budget of the film has skyrocketed to $290 million (according to Variety), which is way more than what the studios had actually planned. The cost includes the substantial tax incentives that the global production was able to leverage to rein in costs. ## The eye-popping budget of the "MI7" has made it one of the costliest films ever. According to Culture Crave, the action spy film is currently the 6th most expensive movie of all time. "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is the costliest film ever with a budget of $379 million. ## Avengers "Age of Ultron", "Endgame", and "Infinity War" are the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th most expensive movies with $365 million, $356 million, and $325 million, respectively. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The World's End", and "Justice League" are the 5th most expensive titles with a cost of $300 million each. ## According to Variety sources, a significant factor in this budget escalation is that "Mission: Impossible 7" was initially scheduled to begin shooting in Venice in February 2020, but it had to stop and start production seven different times. ## "Mission: Impossible 7" was supposed to hit screens in September this year, but in January, Paramount announced that it was delaying the release of "Mission: Impossible 7" to July 14, 2023, citing "delays due to the ongoing pandemic". The postponement will also add interest costs to the film's overall budget. The duo had earlier joined hands for "Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava", which was released in October 2018 and was a box office hit. ## Haarika & Hassine Creations, which had produced "Aravinda Sametha", announced in January 2021 that the action-director duo will be reuniting for another film. However, there were some reports that all is not well between them and the movie was reportedly shelved. Later, Trivikram picked Mahesh Babu's film, which was recently launched in Hyderabad while NTR joined hands with Koratal Siva for his next. ## Now, it seems that Jr. NTR's film with the ace filmmaker will be produced by Naga Vamsi under his banner Sithara Entertainments. During a recent media conversation, Naga Vamsi spilled the beans about this much-awaited film and said that it will be made on a huge scale and will be a Pan-India project. ## "We have planned it on a huge scale. The concept of the movie is really interesting, and NTR will be seen in a never-before role. Trivikram Srinivas has penned a mind-blowing story, which we believe has a potential to reach pan-India", Naga Vamsi said, according to Telangana Today. ## NTR's film with Trivikram will only start after both complete their current commitments. Trivikram will soon start the shooting of Mahesh Babu and Pooja Hegde's yet-untitled film while Jr. NTR will also commence filming Koratala Siva's film that is going to be a Pan-India project. Alia Bhatt will reportedly play the female lead opposite NTR in the film. ## Jr. NTR also has a film with KGF director Prashanth Neel. It was announced officially last year and will begin after Koratal Siva's film. Meanwhile, the "Janatha Garage" actor is gearing up for the release of SS Rajamouli-directed "RRR", which is slated for the March 25 release. Directed by Shakun Batra, the complex modern relationship drama film is being loved by the critics and OTT audience alike. ## Originally made for the theatrical release, the makers changed their plans and collaborate with Amazon Prime Video for the wide reach of the film and sold the streaming rights in the range of Rs. 100 crores, according to industry insiders. It is said that the movie cost approx Rs. 70 crores to the makers. ## The direct-to-digital amount of "Gehraiyaan" has made it the biggest deal for a woman-centric film and one of the highest for a Bollywood movie. The makers are said to be happy with the deal as they thought it wouldn't have recovered the cost if it was released in theaters amid the current circumstances.## Earlier, Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan's "Atrangi Re", which was released in December last year on Disney Plus Hotstar, was reportedly sold to Rs. 140 crores while movies like "Laxmii", "Coolie No. 1", "Bhuj: The Pride of India" were also sold at a high price. ## "Gehraiyaan" is jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Jouska Films. Producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi confirms the Hindi release of the most-anticipated movie. ## In one of his recent interviews, when Naga Vamsi was quizzed about "Bheemla Nayak", he said, "I am confident that the movie will be a super hit. That is why we have opted for its Hindi release as well".## "Though Bheemla Nayak is an adaptation of Malayalam movie, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, the audience will be thoroughly entertained. We have taken the storyline from the original movie. Our writer Trivikram Srinivas has done a fantastic job in the script work", Naga Vamsi explained.## Directed by Sagar K Chandra, "Bheemla Nayak" marks Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati's maiden collaboration.
