The television series was aired on DD National from 13 September 1997 to 27 March 2005. Mukesh Khanna, who will be co-producing the cinematic trilogy, played the titular role of Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastriji, in the series. ## In October 2020, Mukesh Khanna had confirmed the "Shaktimaan" film trilogy and had said that it will be bigger than "Krish". The film premiered directly on Netflix, skipping theaters on February 4. Netflix released the list of most-watched films and shows from January 31 to February 6. ## According to data released by the streamer, "Loop Lapeta" was the 4th most-watched non-English film with viewing hours of 2.46 million in the first three days. The movie remained the only Indian film in Netflix's top 10 list this week. It is said that Prabhas will launch Maruthi's film in April or May this year, and will shoot for it in a quick time. Mumbai, February 8 - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 94th Academy Awards on Tuesday (Feb. 8), and it brought disappointment to India, despite hopes from fans and the filmmakers behind it.## India's Tamil movie, "Jai Bhim", starring Suriya, was in the race to get the nomination in the Best International Feature Film category. The hope increased when Awards Editor for Rotten Tomatoes, Jacqueline Coley bid for "Jai Bhim" to get a nod for Best Picture nominations. However, the drama film based on real-life incidents, couldn't make it to the list. ## The movies that are nominated for Best International Feature Film, include - "Drive My Car" (Japan), "Flee" (Denmark), "The Hand of God" (Italy), "Lunana: A Yak In The Classroom" (Bhutan), and "The Worst Person In The World" (Norway). ## Meanwhile, the other film that was supposed to make it into the Best Feature Film category, Marvel/Sony's global blockbuster, "Spider-Man: No Way Home", also couldn't find a spot in the nominations. No Way Home was considered a long shot in the best picture race, and Marvel/Sony even started a campaign for Oscars nod over its box office success.## "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is currently playing in theaters and has so far grossed over $1.77 billion globally, there was hope that the Academy would recognize it for helping reinvigorate theater-going. However, despite falling short in the best picture race, "No Way Home" has been nominated in the Best Visual Effect category along with Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings".## Films based on comic books have often been ignored at the Oscars in the Best Picture category. However, things have changed in the last couple of years. Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" (2018) and Warner Bros' DC film "Joker" (2019) were nominated for best picture. J. Gnanavel, is based on a true incident in 1995, which involves a case fought by Justice K. Chandru, played by Suriya in the movie. Sengeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband. Chandru files a habeas corpus case and he refers to the Rajan case to continue further to find the truth. ## Released on Amazon Prime Video on 2 November 2021, "Jai Bhim" received critical acclaim. It is produced by Jyothika and Suriya under 2D Entertainment and also stars Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, among others in key roles. The two biggest action stars of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff are coming together for the first time and director Ali Abbas Zafar's action-comedy "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan", to be produced by Bhagnanis' production house Pooja Entertainment. ## The title of the film is taken from Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda's 1998 blockbuster film, however, it is not a remake and will be made on an original script. Written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the upcoming "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" is an out-and-out action entertainer with some comic moments. ## Veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani said, "It's a film very close to my heart as it brought together two legends Amit Ji and Govinda and was directed by my favorite Davidji. Los Angeles, February 8 - Last year, Walt Disney company faced the heat over Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow's" day-and-date Disney+ release, which reportedly cost Disney a whopping $40 million to settle the lawsuit filed against it. And now, the same is happening with Warner Bros.## Village Roadshow Pictures, the producers of the recently released science fiction action film, "The Matrix Resurrections", has sued Warner Bros. for breaching the contract. The Keanu Reeves-fronted movie was released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously in December last year, which is the reason behind the lawsuit. ## Village Roadshow Pictures has alleged that Warner Bros. is prioritizing HBO Max to increase streamer's popularity at the cost of movies box office revenue. ## "WB's sole purpose in moving the release date of The Matrix Resurrections forward was to create a desperately needed wave of year-end HBO Max premium subscriptions from what it knew would be a blockbuster film, despite knowing full well that it would decimate the film's box office revenue and deprive Village Roadshow of any economic upside that WB and its affiliates would enjoy, especially as compared to a 2022 exclusive theatrical release", states the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ## Warner Bros. said in a statement, "This is a frivolous attempt by Village Roadshow to avoid their contractual commitment to participate in the arbitration that we commenced against them last week. We have no doubt that this case will be resolved in our favor".## The production company alleged that "The Matrix Resurrections" was supposed to release in 2022, but was moved up by Warner Bros. to boost HBO Max's subscribers. The day-and-date release of The Matrix sequel really put a massive dent in its box office potential as the movie grossed only $37 million domestically. It is also causing huge losses to actors, producers, and other financial partners whose revenue depends on the film's box office numbers. ## Warner Bros. renegotiated contracts tied to box office performance when it announced that it would put its entire slate of 2021 movies onto HBO Max and in theaters. However, according to THR, the lawsuit said no such deal was reached with Village Roadshow over Matrix Resurrections, adding that the rushed release caused it to be rampantly pirated, further hurting its box office returns. ## Stay tuned...
