Chiyaan Vikram Teams Up With Sarpatta Parambarai Director Pa. Ranjith For His Next

Chennai, December 2 - Amid the speculations of Chiyaan Vikram and director Pa.Ranjith coming together for the first time, the project has now been confirmed with K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green is bankrolling it. The big-ticket project has been in the talks for some time now and it will start rolling soon. ## One of the finest actors in Tamil cinema, Vikram was last seen in "Kadaram Konda"n, which was released in 2019. He recently concluded the shoot of the magnum opus "Ponniyin Selvan: Part One", which gears up for the release in summer 2022. He is also gearing up for the release of "Mahaan", which also features his son Dhruv Vikram. ## On the other hand, Pa.Ranjith is coming out from the blockbuster "Sarpatta Parambarai", starring Arya. Chennai, December 2 - Tamil movie "Maanaadu", which was released a week ago on November 25, is going bonkers at the box office as it turned out to be the best performer for actor Silambarasan TR. ## Now, director Venkat Prabhu has revealed that he has plans for the sequel of Maanaadu in a recent interview. He also confirmed that the sequel will not only feature Silambarasan TR but will also have SJ Suryah, who played DCP Dhanushkodi, back in the mix. ## Venkat Prabhu has also added that initially, the team wanted to rope in Ravi Teja to play Dhanushkodi but due to his busy schedule, SJ Suryah came on board. Suryah added that Ravi Teja has seen the Tamil version and is interested to play Dhanushkodi if the film gets remade in Telugu.## The story of the film revolves around a common man and a police officer, who is trapped in a time loop, on the day of a public conference of the chief minister and forced to live the same day over and over again. ## Maanaadu is produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions. Hyderabad, December 2 - While the Telugu film industry is still recovering from the devastating effects of the covid-19 pandemic, the firm stand of the state government on the low ticket prices has further become a roadblock in the recovery. The Telugu film artists have been urging the Andhra Pradesh chief minister to allow the hike in the movie ticket prices so that they can generate some revenues. ## Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has continuously spoken against the government for neglecting the Telugu film industry. Natural star Nani too has expressed his opinion on this burning issue and now, veteran director K. Raghavendra Rao has opened up on the issue of ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh.## Expressing his displeasure regarding the Andhra Pradesh government's stand on the issue, the director appealed to the AP Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to reconsider the Bill passed on the reduction of movie ticket prices in cinema halls. ## "With the existing pandemic-related problems, the film industry sees only a 10-20 percent success ratio. Hundreds of families depend on that percentage of success. Distributors, traders, theatre owners, and many others survive on this little success", Rao said.## About online movie ticketing, Rao wrote, "What if influenced people freeze the online tickets and sell in the black market? There are possibilities, right? So, I'm requesting the government to reconsider the decisions taken about online booking system".## Director Rao further suggested that the government should officially increase ticket rates, at least for the first week of any movie release, which would only help them generate more revenue from the taxes. Mumbai, December 2 - Akshay Kumar-fronted "Sooryavasnhi" is marching alone at the box office and attracting footfalls even towards the end of the 4th week and in between the competition with Salman Khan-starrer "Antim: The Final Truth".## The Rohit Shetty-directed cop drama netted an estimated 51 lakh on its 27th day (4th Wednesday), taking its total India net collection to Rs. 190.87 crores. The Wednesday collection helps "Sooryavanshi" to cross the lifetime total of "2.0" (Hindi), which netted 190.48 crores. Akshay played an antagonist the sci-fi actioner against protagonist Rajinikanth. It becomes Akshay's 4th highest-earning film at the Indian box office and will most probably finish with that spot.## Surpassing "2.0's" Hindi total is a big achievement for the makers considering the fact that it was released amid the covid-19 pandemic with 50% theater capacity in Maharasthra and some of the other states. The movie, however, was expected to do well at the box office, and one would say, it has succeeded the expectations of trade analysts. ## Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good Films, "Sooryavanshi" took a solid opening of Rs. 77.08 crores over the first weekend. The positive WOM helped it further to finish the opening week at Rs. 120.66 crore and the second week on 45.57 crores.## From the third week onwards, "Sooryavanshi" faced a competetion with YRF's "Bunty Aur Babli 2". Despite the competition, it fetched another Rs. 18.68 crores in the 3rd week. With two new releases in the form of "Satyameva Jayate 2" (Nov. 25), and "Antim" (Nov. 26), "Sooryavanshi" started slowing down but still managed to hold strong with a likely over Rs. 6 crores 4th-week finish. YRF Announces First Web Show 'The Railway Men' On Bhopal Gas Tragedy

Mumbai, December 2 - India's leading film production company, Yash Raj Films is making its smashing debut in the digital world, announcing the studios' first web series, "The Railway Men". A tribute to the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, the show marks YRF's streaming content production's first out of five shows into the booming digital content (over-the-top or OTT) landscape of India. ## The show will tell the story of workers at the Bhopal railway station who saved thousands of lives during one of the world's worst industrial disasters when a cloud of toxic gas escaped from an American pesticide plant, in 1984, in the central Indian city of Bhopal. The series will be streaming from December 2, 2022.## "The Railway Men" heads the cast including R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma, and late Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan. It marks the directorial debut of Shiv Rawail, who has had previous stints as assistant director on Yash Raj Films productions "Dhoom 3", starring Aamir Khan, and "Fan", starring Shah Rukh Khan. ## Akshaye Widhani, senior VP at Yash Raj Films said, "The Bhopal Gas Tragedy is the world's worst industrial disaster that has impacted scores of people since the tragedy struck the city 37 years ago.
