On Thursday (November 25), the makers unveiled the first look of Varun from along with the new release date of Amar Kaushik's directorial. ## Varun Dhawan has shown his versatility through every genre and now, he is all set to take the fans in the horror-comedy universe with his captivating never seen before look. The first look poster shows him in a fiery werewolf avatar shrouded in mystic red. The VFX is being handled by Hollywood's premier effects studio Mr. X. ## Talking about his collaboration with Mr. X, producer Dinesh Vijan says, "Mr. X has been a pioneer in the industry, having created some of the most spellbinding visual masterpieces of recent movie history. Mumbai, November 24 - China's war epic film "The Battle At Lake Changjin", which recently surpassed fellow Chinese film "Hi, Mom" to become the highest-grossing film of 2021 worldwide, has now taken over the title of a highest-grossing movie ever in China. ## Directed by Chen Kaige, Hark Tsui, and Dante Lam, "The Battle At Lake Changjin" dethrone the previous leader, 2017's "Wolf Warrior 2" through Wednesday (November 24). Lake Changjin currently stands an estimated RMB 5.693B ($890M) after 56 days in release. Wolf Warrior 2 had grossed an estimated RMB 5.68B during its entire box office run. ## Interestingly, both "Lake Changjin" and "Wolf Warrior 2" were led by actor Wu Jing among others. Wu Jing had also directed "Wolf Warrior 2". Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zhao Lijian praised the achievement on social media, offering his "congratulations" to actor Wu Jing "for surpassing himself". ## "The Battle at Lake Changjin" is reportedly China's most expensive film ever made with a production budget of approx $200 million. It glorifies Chinese sacrifices and heroism during the real-life battle in 1950 that took place at the eastern front in the second battle of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.## Earlier this month, China's Film Administration outlined its 14th "Five-Year Plan" for the development of Chinese films with plans to increase movie screens, promote 10 domestic tentpoles each year, and which calls for 50 films per annum to earn more than RMB 100M ($15.6M) in the market. Los Angeles, November 24 - A sequel to 2021's family-friendly adventure "Clifford the Big Red Dog" is in development at the Paramount Pictures studio. The first film was released simultaneously theatrically and digitally on Paramount+ on November 10, 2021.## It has generated a little over $34 million at the North American box office. Though the company didn't provide any tangible metrics, Paramount says "Clifford the Big Red Dog" has become the nascent streaming service's most-watched original film to date. ## It should be noted that Paramount Plus rebranded from CBS All Access last March with limited cinematic offerings, so "Clifford" didn't have much competition to cement its place as the streamer's most popular new film.## According to Variety, the studio has not disclosed whether the 2nd installment will play only in theaters or simultaneously on digital platforms, like the original one. ## Based on the popular children's book series, "Clifford the Big Red Dog" follows 12-year-old Emily Elizabeth, who is gifted a little red puppy. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds in leading roles, "Red Notice" is on track to become the most-watched film on the streamer in its first 28 days of release. ## Released on November 12 (Netflix), "Red Notice" broke into streamer's Top 10 Most Popular English Films of all time this past week, registering 277.9 million hours viewed. In just 11 days of release, it hit the 2nd spot on the Netflix chart and is about to surpass the current No. 1 holder, "Bird Box", which raked in 282 million hours viewed in its first 28 days. ## Netflix released the new data, which ranks its most popular titles based on viewing hours, as part of its revamped and expanded Top 10 lists. Netflix says the metrics will be audited by EY, with results to be released in 2022.## In the first 3 days of release (12-14 Nov.), "Red Notice" raked in 148.7 million hours viewed and was the number 1 movie in the first three days. From November 15 to November 21, it dropped to the 2nd spot and gained 129.1 million hours viewed. Mumbai, November 24 - The trailer of the much-awaited sports drama "Jersey", starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, was launched on Tuesday (November 23) during an event. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, "Jersey" is the official Hindi remake of a Nani-starrer Telugu movie of the same name. ## In the movie, Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a former cricket player who wants to get back to the game to inspire his son while Mrunal Thakur plays his wife. "Jersey" is one of the many films held back to release in theaters owning to the covid-19 pandemic. Over the first weekend, it grossed Rs. 17 crores worldwide. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, "Honsla Rakh" remained solid throughout, and currently, it is the second highest-grossing Punjabi film of the covid-19 pandemic with Rs. 53.35 crores worldwide over 38 days. Mumbai, November 23 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has often shared his love for theaters, especially for single-screen cinemas. Before the covid-19 pandemic, the superstar was planning to launch his own theater chain in small towns, however, the pandemic put the plans on hold. ## However, as things started getting to normalcy and theaters across the country have reopened, Salman Khan revealed in a recent interview that his project Salman Talkies is still in the works. Salman confirmed that he indeed had plans to open up theatres and hopefully, it will be sometime soon, according to News18. ## "We were planning it but everything was put on hold. Slowly we will get back to it, but definitely someday. We had planned to open them up in smaller towns where people didn’t have access to theatres. Not here in cities like Mumbai", Salman told TOI. ## According to a 2018 report by Mumbai Mirror (via News18), Salman Talkies was going to be a chain of theatres where tickets would be tax-free and available at subsidized rates and free for children from underprivileged backgrounds. The actor had also met several producers, distributors, and exhibitors to execute his plan and understand the market for theatre in a better way. ## The report had mentioned that the chain was expected to flag off in Maharashtra and later expanded to other states over the next ten years. In India, despite being the second most populated country in the world, people in small towns don't have access to theaters. Mumbai, November 23 - Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer "Bhediya", which gearing up to release next year, is a step forward in Maddock Films' horror-comedy genre. The studio behind the successful horror-comedy films like "Stree" and "Roohi" is leaving no stone unturned to make "Bhediya" one of its a kind monster comedies with the international crew coming on board to design the action scenes and VFX. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik (Stree, Bala), "Bhediya" is currently scheduled to release on April 14, 2022. While the shooting has already been completed recently, the latest reports suggest that the release of this much-awaited has been postponed to the next year-end. ## It is said that the VFX work on "Bhediya", which is reportedly being done by Moving Picture Company (1917, The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Harry Potter), is taking longer than expected, which resulted in the postponement of the film by at least 6 months. ## "It's a new genre, and the team is looking to create a big-screen experience with not just the never seen before visuals, but also some unique sound effects meant for the cinema halls. The film will now be released in the last quarter of 2022 between the October to December window", a source told Pinkvilla. ## Varun Dhawan will have two releases next year. His romantic family drama film, "Jug Jugg Jeeyo", which also stars Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Kiara Advani was recently announced to release on June 24, 2022. On the other hand, Kriti Sanon will have at least 5 releases in 2022. Apart from "Bhediya", she has "Bachchan Pandey" with Akshay Kumar, scheduled to release on 4 March, and magnum opus "Adipurush" with Prabhas on 11 August. ## Kriti is currently filming for "Ganapath - Part 1" with Tiger Shroff. The movie also stars Ram Charan as Alluri Sitarama Raju. Being made on a scale like never before, "RRR" is scheduled to release on Jan. 7, 2022, all over the world.
