Box Office: Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan' Struggles To Hit 50 Crore Net Collection

Mumbai, May 8 - It has been a struggling ride for Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's sports biopic Maidaan at the box office. Despite the advantage of the Eid holidays, the movie opened to a poor collection and never bounced back despite the open run. ## Directed by Amit Sharma, Maidaan has topped the 50 crore net mark on its 29th day which is no longer a milestone. Ideally, the current total of Maidaan should have been its opening weekend collection given the Eid holidays but that is a gone case. ## Eid has always been a lucrative festival for Bollywood regarding the box office as Salman Khan films have historically done well on this particular festival, however, 2024 proved different as both big releases, Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan bombed without even putting up a fight. ## With the bombing of Maidaan and BMCM along with other films also not doing well, the month of April has been a nightmare for theatres with not much return. Mumbai, April 19 - It was a super low turnaround at the box office on Eid 2024 as both tentpole films, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, bombed without making much noise. ## Ajay Devgn-fronted sports biopic Maidaan received a positive reception from critics as well as from audiences, however, it was all doom and gloom at the box office for the movie. In its extended 8-day first week, the movie scored low approximately 28.35 crores net. ## Overseas, Maidaan remained poor with an estimated 7 crores gross collection, for around 40.50 crores worldwide total. Mumbai, April 14 - Pooja Entertainment's action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has a low-extended first weekend at the domestic box office with a net collection of 40.25+ crores. The movie failed to overcome mixed to negative reception despite the Eid weekend. ## The Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer hasn't grown much on its first Sunday with a collection similar to yesterday for an estimated 8.75-9.25 crores net. The mass centres have contributed more to the overall total but are nowhere near the potential of a film featuring an A-list star cast with a blockbuster director. ## Given the flat trend over the weekend, it is clear that the movie hasn't been able to connect with the audiences, be it multiplex or mass. A super strong hold on Monday is crucial for the film if the movie wants to go anywhere near the 100 crore net mark. ## Ajay Devgn-starrer sports biopic Maidaan failed to convert the positive word of mouth into footfalls with a poor 4-day weekend with around 21.75 crores net collection. Box Office: Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan Third Day/First Saturday Early Estimates

Mumbai, April 13 - Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan shows a jump of around 15% on its first Saturday which might not be good enough after the underwhelming first two days for a movie carrying massive cost. ## According to early estimates, Ali Abbas Zafar's directorial flick scored 8.50-9 crores net, pushing the total to around 31.75 crores in 3-days. Ideally, the movie should have scored somewhere close to the opening day collection to get close to 50 crores opening weekend but it will now fall well short of that target. ## The opening weekend of BMCM is heading towards 40-43 crores net which is poor for the size of the movie. The biz on Monday will give a fair idea of where the film is heading as far as the lifetime collection is concerned. ## Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn-fronted Maidaan sees a big jump of around 80% on its third day, however, the overall collection remains on the lower side with an estimated 5.50-6 crores net. The big jump was a must for the film after earning nowhere near its potential in the first two days. ## The total collection of the film after three days is over 15.50 crores net which is still very poor for a big-budget film. The movie will need to show a similar or bigger jump on Sunday as well and then will have to hope for a strong hold on Monday to stand a chance for a decent lifetime total. ## The good thing for both BMCM is that there is not a big release for the next couple of weeks so they will have a chance to collect if manage to hold on Monday. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, April 12 - After the underwhelming Eid opening day, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-fronted Bade Miyan Chote Miyan dropped by over 50% on its second day which is a worrying sign for the film's box office prospects. ## According to early estimates, BMCM scores around 7 crores net collection on its first Friday, pushing the total to around 22.50 crores net in two days. The movie received mixed to negative word of mouth which has started showing its effect from the second day itself despite the Eid buzz. ## The film needs to perform exceptionally well on Saturday and Sunday to take the opening weekend past 50 crores mark, however, it won't be easy as advances for the weekend are currently lower than the opening day. ## Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan too couldn't make a move after the disappointing first-day collection of approximately 4.50 crores net. On its second day, the movie dropped by over 40% for an estimated 2.50-3 crores net despite the opening day itself was not huge enough to justify the drop. ## The total collection of Maidaan after two days + paid preview is around 9.75 crores net which is poor. Mumbai, April 11 - The Bollywood box office sees a low response on Eid day as both the big releases of the day, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Maidaan fail to capture the attention of moviegoers with underwhelming numbers. ## Both films are struggling to reach the 20 crore net mark combined which is disappointing. According to early estimates, Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff-fronted BMCM scores around 15-16 crores net collection, all thanks to the last-minute push in advances and Eid holiday factor. ## After the initial response in pre-sales, BMCM was heading for a low double-digit start but got some sort of momentum in the final hours and spot booking to get a little push in the collection. The movie needs a big push over the weekend to get a respectable weekend total. ## Ajay Devgn-fronted Maidaan, which is more of a multiplex film, scores an estimated 4.50-5 crores net collection on opening day. It minted around 2.50 crores in Wednesday paid previews, so the full first-day total is around 7+ crores, which would have been decent had it been a pure opening day. ## Maidaan is likely to see a good jump over the weekend due to positive word of mouth.
