Box Office: Beast Second Day Early Estimates
Chennai, April 14 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller "Beast" takes a huge drop on its second day at the domestic box office, but the overall collection remains strong.
The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed has had the biggest ever start for a Tamil movie, grossing over 58 crores at the domestic box office. In Tamil Nadu, it took the biggest opening of all time with 32.5 crores gross, beating Thalapathy's own "Sarkar", which had grossed 30.15 crores on the first day.
Keeping the long weekend ahead in mind, the movie was bound to take a dip after the first day (a usual trend in South cinema). As per the early estimates, it scored approx. 21 crores net (24+ cr. gross) on the second day, pushing two days' domastic total to over 70 crores net for all languages.
The second-day biz was also affected due to the onslaught of "KGF: Chapter 2", but Thalapathy-starrer still managed to hold well in Tamil Nadu with approx. 19 crores gross, taking two days Tamil Nadu gross past 50 crores mark. The Telugu version of the film also suffered heavily because of the Pan-India biggie. "Beast" generates approx. 1.50 crores gross in AP/TG. The opening day AP/TG gross was 8.10 crores.
Meanwhile, "Beast" has crossed the 100 crores gross mark in two days. It has scored approx. 110 crores gross, including approx. 30 crores from overseas markets.
