Warner Bros. To Apply Marvel's Plan For DC Films

BY SACNILK

Los Angeles, August 5 - There are a lot of things going on with Warner Bros. regarding the studio's future roadmap and it seems, the studio has its plans going forward as far as DC films are concerned under the new CEO David Zaslav at Warner Bros. Discovery. ## Warner Bros. recently canceled the release of the HBO Max film "Batgirl" and has defended it saying "We’re not going to put a movie out unless we believe in it". It is clearly visible that under Zaslav, Warner Bros. is looking to boost its theatrical business model and the CEO claimed to have a 10-year plan for the same. ## "You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman — these are brands that are known everywhere in the world. We have done a reset. We've restructured the business where we are going to focus, where there is going to be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. We believe we can build a much more sustainable business", Zaslav said during an earnings call Thursday (via THR)## Warner Bros. is seen as a rival of Marvel Studios in Hollywood though the latter is far ahead of the former one. Marvel never lagged behind anyone in producing blockbuster titles and the studio already keeps plans for the future. DC is now looking to emulate the success of the Disney-owned Marvel Studios, which Kevin Feige has built into the highest-grossing film franchise in history. ## According to THR, CEO David Zaslav has been advised by Feige's former boss, retired Disney film chief Alan Horn to apply the Marvel playbook model for DC films. ## "It's very similar to the structure Alan Horn, [former Disney CEO] Bob Iger and Kevin Feige put together very effectively at Disney. We think we can build a much stronger, sustainable growth business out of DC", said Zaslav. "As part of that, we are going to focus on quality. We are not going to release any film before it's ready. DC is something we can make better".## After the cancellation of "Batgirl", there are at least 5 films already under production at DC Extended Universe. The movies include "Black Adam", "Shazam! Fury of the Gods", "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", "The Flash", and "Blue Beetle". Warner Bros. also has "Wonder Woman 3" with Gal Gadot, a sequel to Robert Pattinson's "The Batman" in the pipeline along with expanding the "Superhero" franchise. ## Stay tuned...

Warner Bros. Will Not Release DC Superhero Movie 'Batgirl'

BY SACNILK

Los Angeles, August 3 - In a major development, Warner Bros. Studio has decided to scrap the release of its upcoming film Batgirl, budgeted $80 million -$90 million. The DC superhero film, which has already completed filming, was supposed to arrive on the studio's streaming platform HBO Max later this year. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is looking to boost its big event theatrical titles and "Batgirl" doesn't fall in that category. The studio has also canceled the release of the animated feature Scoob!: Holiday Haunt, which had a budget in the $40 million range.## The decision of scrapping the release of the two aforementioned films comes after a change in leadership at Warners, with newly appointed Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav prioritizing cost-cutting measures and refocusing Warners on creating theatrical films rather than projects for streaming, as had been a priority for former WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, per THR.## Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, "Batgirl" stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl — the first Latina to play the role, along with Michael Keaton, back as Batman, J.K. Simmons as Barbara's father, Commissioner James Gordon, and Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly.## During the covid-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. was the first to send its movies day-and-date on HBO Max and in theaters in a one-year experiment, a decision, which was largely criticized by some of the biggest Hollywood filmmakers. Under the new leadership at the company, will be looking to emphasize the importance of theatrical over streaming in terms of original movies. ## Stay tuned...

A truly GREAT Penguin. But for me it was all about the narrative. The story here is rich, complex & layered in ways that will have you thinking about #TheBatman long after watching pic.twitter.com/GpLBOYOfnJ— Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) February 28, 2022 ## #TheBatman is a ridiculous, bold, brilliant event, absolutely jam-packed with style & a surprising sense of humor. I’m obsessed. pic.twitter.com/TPdCSeX5JT— Jenna Anderson (@heyitsjennalynn) February 28, 2022 ## I never thought I would see a Batman movie like #TheBatman: an actual detective story, methodically paced, dripping with atmosphere, modestly stylish. Mumbai, January 30 - Todd Phillips-directed, "Joker" movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, made some big waves upon its release in 2019. From becoming the first R-Rated movie to gross $1 billion worldwide to win 2 Oscars from 11 nominations, the psychological thriller film eventually became the highlight of that year. ## In November 2019, The Hollywood Reporter had revealed the sequel of "Joker" was officially under the works at Warner Bros. studio with Phoenix and Phillips returning. But there hasn't been much development since then and many guessed that the studio might have dropped the idea of its sequel. According to Heroic Hollywood, Warner Bros. has officially received the first draft of its script and the film will begin shooting sometime in 2023. Plot details are being kept in a cell at Arkham Asylum.## The Joker hasn’t shown up on the big screen since the Joaquin Phoenix film, but he has made a number of smaller-scale appearances, namely with Jared Leto reprising his role as the Clown Prince of Crime in "Zack Snyder's Justice League" cut. The character is also rumored to be appearing in the upcoming "The Batman" movie starring Robert Pattinson as Caped Crusader. ## Joaquin Phoenix had won the Oscar for the Best Actor for his role in "Joker". The movie had also won the Oscar for Best Original Score by Hildur Guðnadóttir.
