John Wick: Chapter 4 Becomes The Highest-Grossing Film In The Franchise In India

Mumbai, March 26 - The Keanu Reeves-fronted 4th installment of John Wick is turning out to be a sleeper hit in India. Despite having not much pre-release buzz and poor outcomes of the first three films in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 4 has been able to attract Indian moviegoers in a big way. ## Directed by Chad Stahelski, the latest flick in this neo-noir action thriller series opened to a fantastic 8.75 crores net, including Thursday previews, in India for all languages. It was the biggest opening for the John Wick franchise as well as more than 50% of the total net collection of the first three films. ## With the help of a super solid audience WOM, "John Wick 4" sees a jump of more than 50% on Saturday for approx. 9 crores net, pushing total net collection to approx. 17.50 crores. After this, it has become the highest-grossing John Wick film in India, surpassing the combined net total of approx. 14 crores of the previous films in just two days. ## The first film in the franchise, released in 2014, was a washout in India, scoring just approx. 1 crore net lifetime collection, before "John Wick: Chapter 2" (2017) improved slightly to approx. 2 crore net. "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" (2019) was previously the biggest film in the series with approx. 11 crores net. The three films combined did approx. 14 crores net. ## "John Wick 4" will see another big spike in the collection on Sunday. Los Angeles, March 25 - John Wick franchise is soaring to new highs, not just on the box office front but in every way possible. The Keanu Reeves-fronted action thriller film is still in the early days but it is already proving to be an unstoppable force. ## Directed by Chad Stahelski, "John Wick 4" has created some new records in this blockbuster franchise which is growing with each passing film. The movie scored the biggest opening day in the franchise, grossing a spectacular $29.40 million (including $8.90 million Thursday previews) at the domestic (North America) box office.## The $29.40 million opening day is approx. $7 million higher than the third installment which minted $22.60 million in 2019. Los Angeles, March 19 - DC Studios' latest superhero movie, Shazam Fury Of The Gods fails to fly high at the domestic (North America) as well as the overseas box office and fell short of the expectations. ## The sequel to the successful 2019's film opened at number 1 on the domestic opening weekend with $30.5 million, according to Variety. It was, however, projected to start with around $40 million, which was still lower than the opening of its predecessor which debuted with $53.50 million. ## Not only just domestically, but the Shazam sequel also opened lower than expected internationally, grossing $35 million from 77 markets for a global start of $65.5 million. The movie witnessed the biggest-ever drop in the second weekend for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. The second on the list is "Black Panther" which dropped $44.7%. ## The total domestic gross collection of "Ant-Man 3" after the 2nd weekend reached $167.3 million. Pictures is going back to Middle-Earth to make multiple more Lord of the Rings films. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has brokered a multiyear deal with rights holders Embracer Group AB which allows the studio to develop more films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings books and The Hobbit. ## Embracer Group, the Swedish gaming company, acquired the rights to produce LOTR films, games, merchandise, theme park attractions, and live productions when it purchased rights holder Middle-earth Enterprises last year from The Saul Zaentz Company. ## LOTR is one of the most successful film franchises in Hollywood. There have been a total of 3 films in the LOTR franchise, directed by Peter Jackson, with a combined gross collection of $2.9 billion.
