Gokulam Movies Acquires Distribution Rights of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' In Kerala and Tamil Nadu For All-Time Record Price

Chennai, August 18 - Sree Gokulam Movies, the leading distribution house in Kerala, has acquired the theatrical rights of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for an all-time highest price for a Bollywood movie.## According to Kerala industry tracker Ab George, Gokulam Movies has paid an unheard non-refundable royalty amount of 50 crores to grab the rights. This is by far the biggest-ever distribution deal for any Bollywood movie in the South Indian market. ## Gokulam Movies will release "Jawan" via Dream Big Films in Kerala while Tamil Nadu release will be done through market leader Red Giant Movies. The movie is carrying massive buzz in these two states and it is expected to emerge a big success. ## This is the third straight huge film acquired by Gokulam Movies after Rajinikanth's "Jailer" and Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo" in Kerala. Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' Set For Record IMAX Release In Japan

Tokyo, August 18 - The highest-grossing Indian movie of 2023, "Pathaan" starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone, is set for a huge release in Japan on September 1st. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films.## "Pathaan" will have a wide release in Japan and for the first time for a non-Hollywood international movie, the local distributors will release the movie on a record number of IMAX screens. Mumbai, August 17 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" sees a drop of around 35% on its first Thursday. The drop was expected considering the movie is coming after a long holiday period, however, the drop is slightly on the higher side. ## The early estimates suggest the first Thursday collection of the movie in the range of 5.25 crores net which takes the total collection of the movie to over 84.50 crores net in the full first week. Box Office: Gadar 2 First Thursday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 17 - Gadar 2 records its first drop on its first Thursday but the overall collection continues to remain solid after a very strong as early estimates suggest in the range of 22.50 crores net which is a very good number as these numbers are coming after the film has already consumed 250cr plus worth of audience. There is a drop in the multiplexes but the single-screen cinemas continue to drive the film. The first Thursday numbers will take the total collections of the film to around 284 crores net which is an extraordinary collection and better than the lifetime collections of major blockbusters of the last decade or so. Mumbai, August 17 - The sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal-starrer 2012's film "Oh My God - OMG" was finally released on August 11, 2023, and against all odds, it is set to emerge a big success. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" features Akshay as Lord Shiva in an extended appearance while this time, Pankaj Tripathi takes the central role with Yami Gautam.## "OMG 2" has had its own struggle story before hitting cinemas. The makers had to fight an internal battle with the censor board as board members were initially not willing to grant a censor certificate to the movie. However, after continued efforts, the movie got censored but not the way the makers would have liked. It was granted an "A" rating (18+ only) while the team wanted "U/A" which was denied.## During a recent interview with ETimes, Amit Rai said that he is still trying to convince the censor board members to change their decision and give the movie "U/A" certificate. Box Office: Gadar 2 First Wednesday Early Estimates; Mayhem Continues

Mumbai, August 16 - Gadar 2 mayhem continues at the box office after the historic 5-day Independence Day weekend domestically. On its first Wednesday/sixth day, Gadar 2 scores an estimated 34-35 crores net which is simply outstanding and unbelievable to describe. Gadar 2 Crosses 300 Crores And OMG 2 Hits 100 Crores Gross At The Worldwide Box Office

Mumbai, August 16 - Independence Day week brings joy to the Indian film industry, especially to Bollywood as two of the long-awaited films "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" and "OMG 2" emerged as big box office winners. Both the movies have together brought in approximately 355 crores gross over a 5-day weekend at the domestic box office. ## Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol, has been sensational so far with its day-wise trending. After taking an excellent start of 40.10 crores net, the movie remained rock solid in the following days and eventually scored two 50+ crores net days. On Independence Day, the scored its biggest day with 55.40 crores net which is also the all-time biggest collection on this particular holiday.## "Gadar 2" minted a huge 228.98 crores net (270.20 crores gross) collection, which is the all-time second highest cume net collection for a Bollywood movie in the first 5 days. At the overseas box office, the period action drama film has grossed an estimated 28 crores, for a total worldwide cume of 298.20 crores gross. It has crossed 300 crores mark in the first shows of day 6 and becomes only the 4th Bollywood film of the year to do so.## Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam-led OMG 2 has also done really well over the extended 5-day Independence Day weekend, considering the blockbuster clash. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" left with very less chance to score outside non-multiplex chains due to Gadar 2-mani, but still, the social comedy-drama managed to score a very good 72.27 crores net (85.30 crores gross) collection.## The overseas collection of "OMG 2" is an estimated 14 crores gross which takes the total worldwide gross cume to approx. 99.30 crores. Akshay Kumar Blocks Biggest Box Office Release Dates In 2024 For Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Housefull 5, and Welcome 3

Mumbai, August 16 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar makes a strong comeback with the social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" which is inching towards 100 crores net mark. The actor will have one more release this year in the form of "The Great Indian Rescue" which is slated for October 5. ## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for a huge 2024 year in terms of box office prospects with multiple releases. The actor has locked the biggest release dates for three of his most-awaited movies in 2024 and those movies are expected to emerge as huge box-office hits.## On Eid 2024, the "Sooryavanshi" star will release the highly-anticipated mass entertainer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Mumbai, August 15, 2023 - Gadar 2 continues to display its extraordinary Box Office prowess during its initial five days in theaters, capturing substantial audience interest throughout India. This cinematic offering, which signifies a highly awaited sequel, has effectively sustained its impressive momentum from the moment of its debut. Mumbai, August 15 - Gadar 2 continues its rampage at the box office as it scored its biggest day today, on the occasion of Independence Day domestically. The period action drama film scored a jump of around 5% from the Sunday collection of 51.70 crores net which is simply phenomenal. The film has gone bonkers at the box office and if not for the capacity issues the film would have collected around 15-20% more.## On its first Tuesday/fifth day, Gadar 2 scored an estimated around 55 crores net and might go up to 56 crores which remains to see. The final collection may vary a little bit here and there which remains to see.
