Kangana Ranaut's Actioner 'Dhaakad' Gets A New Release Date

Mumbai, October 18 - Kangana Ranaut's spy thriller, "Dhaakad" has officially been pushed to April 2022. The Razneesh Ghai-directed, which was supposed to hit screens on October 1st, 2021, will now be debuting in theaters on 9 April 2022 worldwide. ## "Dhaakad" is a spy film, in which Kangana plays the character named Agent Agni. It also stars Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta in prominent roles. Mumbai, October 16 - Legendary filmmaker Ramesh Sippy along with dream girl Hema Malini appeared in Amitabh Bachchan hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 as special guests for the 'Shaandaar Shukravaar' episode. The iconic trio remembered the good old days of "Sholay" which is considered a benchmark film in Indian cinema.## During the special episode, Sippy, who directed the iconic "Sholay" (1975) revealed that why he chose Hema Malini for the role of Basanti and how did he think about 'Jai-Veeru' played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra respectively. ## "See, Hema Ji in her first film with me had portrayed the role of a young widow and in the second film, 'Seeta Aur Geeta', she surprised us. So, for the role of 'Basanti', I felt that no one can do it apart from her", the filmmaker told Big B. ## "Also, there was one more thing. When we completed 'Seeta Aur Geeta' and it became successful, it is then when we decided whatever I make after this, Dharam Ji, Hema Ji, and Sanjeev Ji must be there. And as the script of 'Sholay' was shaping up, it was fitting perfectly", he added.## Ramesh Sippy, who directed Big B in three more films after "Sholay", further revealed how he thought of Jai-Veeru and who suggested him to pick Amitabh Bachchan who wasn't a big star at that time. "We had 'Veeru', he was there in the last film, too. So, there was one thing that I had thought about is that we have three superstars and if I get one more superstar, it would be difficult for me, only".## "So, then I thought I need a good actor, who does good work and becomes a team. Because when Salim-Javed suggested Amit Ji for this role, saying there's one 'Amitabh Bachchan' who's doing good work and is working with us in 'Zanjeer'. I said ok, that's good. And, then I thought that he's not a star at the moment so I won't have that problem that there's one more star on the set", he said. ## The filmmaker also said that Big B did a great job in "Anand" and then "Bombay to Goa". He also remembered the dance by Big B in a bus in the film "Bombay to Goa" and got the idea of picking Big B. "I felt this seems to be an actor who can do anything. So, he will be able to give us what we want. That's how the casting was done", he added.## To all that Sippy said, Amitabh acknowledges and responded: "Thank you very much, Sir". Both "Vikram Vedha" and "Thadam", went through some big changes before makers finally took the films on floors on October 15. ## Vikram Vedha is a gangster cop drama film that stars Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles along with Rohit Saraf and Radhika Apte. Akshay Kumar To Play Legendary Indian Army Officer Ian Cardozo In Anand L Rai's 'Gorkha'!

Mumbai, October 15 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is making some huge unexpected movie announcements off late. Having multiple projects already in the pipeline, Akshay's hands are full of upcoming films, yet he is in no mood to put a break on his busy schedule. ## Ahead of the release of his big-budget actioner "Sooryavanshi", Akshay Kumar has finalized one more film, which will go on floors next year. The actor has teamed up with producer Anand L Rai once again for a film based on the life of the legendary officer of the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army, Major General Ian Cardozo. ## Akshay will portray Ian Cardozo, who was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (SVSM) and Sena Medal (SM) for his service to the Indian army. Major Ian Cardozo was the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade. Titled "Gorkha", the movie will be directed by the National award-winning director Sanjay PS Chauhan. Sanjay Chauhan has two films to his name - Lahore (2010), Bahattar Hoorain (2019).## Chauhan won the National award for direction for Bahattar Hoorain and for the best debut film for Lahore. The feature film will reportedly star Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Hrithik Roshan as Ravan while the search for the role of Sita is underway. The movie will officially be announced once all three main characters finalize.## Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari is also showing his interest in author Satyam Srivastava's "The Wielder of the Trishul" mythological fictional book. The "Dangal" director launched the book in Mumbai on Wednesday (October 14) where he hints that he might adapt it for a feature film, "if it's something very exciting".## When asked if he would like to make a movie out of the book he had just released, he said, "It is a tough question. I think I will be very honest here; I would want to finish reading the book because for me entire story arch is really important. The end has got me more intrigued. Once I finish the book and if it is something very exciting as a story, I'd say why not".## Tiwari praised the author for his narrative, which he said was easy for readers to follow. "Satyam has taken mythology and put it in a slightly fictional place, but the book still has a lot of mythological characters who exist in our literature, such as our gods and goddesses. He has integrated both elements nicely. The place where the story is taking place is fictional, but the characters are familiar, so there is a sense of excitement and familiarity as well", he added. ## Meanwhile, the epic "Ramayana" has been in development for a long time now and some of the Oscar-winning team of artists is working on the film. It will jointly be directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar while Madhu Mantena, Allu Arvind, and Namit Malhotra will be producing it. Maharashtra Government Releases SOPs For Cinema Theatres

Mumbai, October 12 - The government of Maharasthra recently announced that the cinema halls and theaters would be permitted to operate from October 22, for which, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would be released soon. ## And now, on October 11, the wait is over for the Bollywood filmmakers as the government has released the SOPs which have cleared the road for Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" and other upcoming Bollywood biggies, which are lined up for release. ## As expected, the moviegoers will have to strictly adhere to the covid-19 guidelines such as practice social distancing, wear face masks and use sanitizers inside the theatre. The government has set a 50% occupancy cap in the cinema halls and also asked for stagger show timings so that crowding doesn't take at any point in the theatre.## The SOP has also mentioned that those who are fully vaccinated will have to show their Covid vaccination certificate. Fortunately, if one is partially or non-vaccinated, he/she can still enter the theatre, provided they show the 'safe' status on their Aarogya Setu app.## The staff of the cinema halls has been asked to check the temperature of the viewers and allow only asymptomatic individuals inside. The management of the theatres will have to sanitize the auditorium after every screening and also ensure regular and disinfection. The staff is also required to be fully vaccinated.## The government hasn't mentioned cut-off time for cinemas to operate in the SOPs which means that the night shows have been allowed. On his special day, Big B, in his latest blog post, revealed that he has terminated his contract with a paan masala brand, Kamala Pasand. ## A promo video of the brand was recently launched which inviteed criticism for Big B. Amitabh Bachchan, who is also a brand ambassador for the pulse polio campaign, was criticised for promoting the paan masala brand. In his blog, Big B revealed that he was unware of certain things about the brand and also revealed that he signed the contract with the brand without the knowledge that it categorises as "surrogate advertising". ## "From the office of Mr Amitabh Bachchan", read the statement. "Kamala Pasand - a few days after the commercial was aired, Mr. Bachchan contacted the brand and stepped out of it last week. Upon checking why this sudden move - it was revealed that when Mr. Bachchan became associated with the brand, he wasn't aware that it falls under surrogate advertising".## The statement also revealed that Amitabh Bachchan, after terminating his contract, has returned the money he received for promotional duties. Movies that were supposed to be heading for direct-to-digital release are now gearing up for the theatrical release. One such film is Salman Khan and Ayush Sharma starrer "Antim: The Final Truth".## "Antim: The Final Truth", the gangster-cop drama was earlier reportedly sold for direct OTT release. However, after theaters in Maharashtra were permitted to operate from October 22, the makers changed their plans and now opting for theatrical release. The film was in line for its possible Diwali release. However, the movie is now scheduled to hit the big screens on November 26 after director Manjrekar filmed few more scenes on Salman. ## Salman, who recently returned from Tiger 3 shoot, has been shooting for a few extra scenes. A source told mid-day, "After returning from the international schedule of Tiger 3, Salman filmed some solo dialogue scenes between October 4 and 6. The decision to add more sequences, featuring the actor, was taken jointly by Salman and Mahesh after seeing the rushes of the gangster-cop drama". ## After the latest development, "Antim" will most probably be clashing with John Abraham starrer "Satyameva Jayate 2", which has already been confirmed to release on November 26. Both the films are masala entertainers with a mass audience in mind, hence, it will be an interesting battle at the box office. SMJ2 has an edge over Antim as this John Abraham fronted has been one of the most-awaited Hindi films. Anti, on the other hand, is not a complete Salman Khan film. The actor is playing an extended cameo in the movie which is the official remake of the 2018 Marathi film Mulshi Pattern.## Salman Khan plays a Sikh cop in the film while Ayush Sharma plays a gangster.
