Box Office: Gadar 2 Second Friday Early Estimates; Terrific Hold

Mumbai, August 18 - Gadar 2 has shown a terrific hold at the box office as the early estimate collections suggest 20 crores net and might go higher on its second Friday which is again an incredible number as it dropped around 15% only from its Thursday collections.## The first week of Gadar 2 ended on a massive note of around 285cr net and with the help of today's collections, the film has crossed the milestone of 300cr net in just 8 days. The drop today was limited in multiplexes as well as in single screens.## The collections of Gadar2 will improve tomorrow and remain to be seen how much. The film is still in the race to become the highest-grossing film ever but it needs to show huge gains over the next two days. A second weekend could be around 80+ which will be an excellent result for the movie.## Gadar2 has become the first film of Sunny Deol which crossed the 300cr net mark. It is the second outright Bollywood movie of the year to cross this milestone. Mumbai, August 17 - Gadar 2 records its first drop on its first Thursday but the overall collection continues to remain solid after a very strong as early estimates suggest in the range of 22.50 crores net which is a very good number as these numbers are coming after the film has already consumed 250cr plus worth of audience. There is a drop in the multiplexes but the single-screen cinemas continue to drive the film. The first Thursday numbers will take the total collections of the film to around 284 crores net which is an extraordinary collection and better than the lifetime collections of major blockbusters of the last decade or so. The first week collections of around 284 crores will be the second-highest first week of all time after Pathaan which comfortably crossed the 300cr net box office mark. This 284 cr net first week has come in a clash with OMG2 so on fair value the film would have crossed the 325cr net mark easily had it released solo like Pathaan or KGF2.## The key from here is the numbers on the second Friday is tomorrow and the hold on the second Monday. These days will determine the lifetime collections of the film or give an idea about that. The target is huge to chase with Pathaan sitting at the top as the highest-grossing film ever though 500cr net looks well within the range for Gadar2. ## Gadar2 has emerged as the all-time blockbuster and the biggest hit of the year at the box office. Sunny Deol has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters ever in the form of Betaab (1983), Ghayal (1990), Border (1997), and Gadar (2001) and these were the biggest hits of their respective years. Mumbai, August 16 - Gadar 2 mayhem continues at the box office after the historic 5-day Independence Day weekend domestically. On its first Wednesday/sixth day, Gadar 2 scores an estimated 34-35 crores net which is simply outstanding and unbelievable to describe. The sort of occupancy the film is running with has never been seen for ages and we have to go back to 2001 to see similar occupancies when Gadar: Ek Prem Katha broke all records and before that, it was Hum Aapke Hain Koun in 1994. These two are the biggest box office blockbusters of the modern era or post-Sholay era. ## The first Wednesday collections will take the total collections of the film to around 264cr net box office mark depending on where the actual Wednesday numbers arrive. A few days back the first week total was looking to settle around 275cr net office mark is now looking to beat that figure by margin and is looking to settle around the 290cr plus mark. Even a mammoth 295cr can be achieved the way Gadar2 is performing at the ticket window. ## The film has broken every record in single screens especially the ones in the heartland like the single screens of UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Central India and CP Berar. East Punjab which did not start with record numbers has joined the party. These are the core Hindi circuits that make the difference between a regular blockbuster and a legendary blockbuster. Mumbai circuit is on par with any film to date except for the mighty Bahubali: The Conclusion.## Gadar2 has emerged as an all-time blockbuster at the box office and became the only franchise in the history of Hindi cinema where both films got all-time blockbuster verdicts. A near 300cr first-week collection has provided a platform for the film to cross the magical 500cr net number but we have to wait for the second Friday and Monday numbers. The film has gone bonkers at the box office and if not for the capacity issues the film would have collected around 15-20% more.## On its first Tuesday/fifth day, Gadar 2 scored an estimated around 55 crores net and might go up to 56 crores which remains to see. The final collection may vary a little bit here and there which remains to see. The mass circuits have seen new highs, especially the ones in the smaller towns of UP, Bihar, and Rajasthan which are the core Hindi circuits and bring back the memories of legendary blockbusters like Sholay, Kranti, and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. East-West-North-South Gadar2 mania has gripped the nation. ## The growth today is over 15% as the movie collects an estimated 51-52 crores net which is phenomenal as yesterday was also a huge day. The growth may look muted but it's coming after an extraordinary first-day number of 40cr and going around 5% over its first day is a huge achievement for a film releasing on a non-Holiday with such huge numbers.## The collections are similar to the first day in every circuit, though mass centers have taken a dip of around 5% as the first day itself was record-shattering and over capacity so the film was bound to go down by a little. The plus is the multiplexes have seen some growth, especially the ones in Mumbai and Pune. Rajasthan, Bihar, and other mass belts have gone overdrive and recorded the best collections of all time for an original Hindi language film. ## The first two days collections will take the total collections of Gadar2 to approx 81-83cr net box office mark depending on the final second-day collections. The film will cross the 100cr mark easily and it has a shot at 130cr plus weekend total. The film is on its way to creating history by recording bumper collections wherever it has been released. ## It took a monstrous start in the early morning shows eclipsing the morning shows with the occupancy of Pathaan (Pathaan had wider release) and its head-to-head with KGF2. It was an easy 50cr opener had it released solo like KGF 2 and Pathaan as it hit the capacity. In many places, the film is recording over-capacity collections in centers of Rajasthan and Bihar which is simply outstanding. ## The early estimate collection of Gadar 2 suggests the opening of 38-40 crores net box office and might go further which remains to see. The opening is historic everywhere but in mass centers, this type of opening has never been seen before by any film to date and it may well be the only film until and unless a brand bigger than Gadar releases at the box office which is again an impossible task.## Sunny Deol has delivered a bumper opening after a very long time but his stardom and popularity have always remained huge. Overall Sunny Deol has delivered more than a dozen bumper openers and is among those rare 5-6 stars who crossed more than 10 bumper openers at the box office. The longevity of his bumper opener is probably the biggest ever as Betaab his debut outing was released 40 years ago in the same month of August to a bumper response. ## The opening of Gadar2 will be the second highest after Pathaan for Hindi films and overall it will be the third-highest opener ever post-pandemic behind Pathaan and KGF2 though if you look from the other angle Gadar2 has simply gone over Pathaan to record the highest opening day footfall film as the major chunk of collections are coming from the single screens where ticket rates are way lesser than Pathaan or KGF2.## The film is targeting a massive extended weekend and it will be among the biggest extended weekends of all time. The advance is competing against the biggest advances of Hindi films post-pandemic like Pathaan and Brahmastra. In smaller centers, it is bound to be the biggest advanced film ever beating KGF Chapter 2.## Gadar 2 is a sequel to the all-time blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released in 2001 and belongs to the league of Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, Mother India, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun as to the greatest box office blockbusters of all time and it is still the biggest hit of this century, bigger than the likes of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dangal, and 3 Idiots. ## The original movie had an opponent in 2001 in the form of Lagaan and even its sequel Gadar2 is having an opponent in the form of OMG2 which is again a sequel of a superhit OMG back in 2012 but OMG2 holds less appeal compared to OMG due to the subject of the film. It will be again a one-horse race like 2001 where Gadar smashed all records by leads and bounds. At the end of the day, it was a bad decision from the makers of OMG2 to go up against something as legendary as Gadar at the box office despite the restricted appeal of OMG2.## The projection of Gadar 2 opening currently is looking around 35cr net which will be an extraordinary opening but a higher number cannot be ruled out too the way the film is generating the hype. If the film manages to touch around the 40cr net box office mark then it will become the highest opening day footfall film beating Pathaan which was hugely helped by the enhanced ticket rates in the premium multiplexes. The advance in standalone multiplexes are comparable to Pathaan and in single screens, it will be bigger than any film to date. ## The Bumper opening will give a chance to Gadar2 to score the blockbuster 300cr net figure at the box office but that will depend on the public appreciation of the film. Mumbai, June 17 - Adipurush which had an extraordinary opening day collection of 37.25 crores net in Hindi is holding exceedingly well on its second day which is a huge plus for the film as the reports are very mixed, and on top of that the film has faced huge negativity on social media. ## The early estimates suggest around 37 crores net on its second day/first Saturday in Hindi which is very similar to the first day. The only difference is the mass centers have seen some drop, especially in the northern belt. The Ramayan factor is the biggest plus in the northern belts but in bigger centers, it will be all about the content which will do the talking. ## The first two days of collections will take the total collections of Adipurush to around the 74cr net box office mark. Sunday is set for big growth going by the advance and this will be the day when both multiplexes and the single screen will record their best occupancies. The Sunday number could well be more than 40cr net which will take the first weekend collections of Adipurush to around 115cr net mark which will put it among the biggest first-weekend films of all time and that too on a normal weekend. ## The first-day worldwide business is humongous with approx 127 crores worldwide gross figures becoming the biggest opener of Indian cinema of 2023 overtaking Pathaan. It is the third 100cr worldwide opener of the lead actor Prabhas after Bahubali: The Conclusion and Sahoo. If the night shows perform really well, then a 40cr net opening day is also within reach. The film will easily be the second-highest opening of 2023 in the Hindi version after Pathaan. Even if you take a nonholiday then Adipurush will be the third-highest opener ever in the Hindi version after Pathaan and Prabhas' own Bahubali: The Conclusion.## The reports of the film are mixed just like every event film but that will hardly matter for the general audience who is seeing the film due to the Ramayan factor. The weekend business will be humongous for sure and it has a chance to challenge the Baahubali: The Conclusion numbers in the first weekend. The 100cr weekend is given even in the worst case. ## The all-India first-day collection is estimated to be around 90-95 crores net. The Telugu version has performed exceptionally well as estimates suggest 55+ crores net. Mumbai, April 30 - Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has shown much-needed growth on the second Sunday of its box office run as the early estimate collections suggest 4.25-4.50 crores net which is a fair number, especially for a film that has not been liked by the audiences. The growth has come mainly in the core mass belts of Hindi circuits where the film has found an appreciation though that is mainly because of the image of Salman Khan. ## The second Sunday box office collections of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan will take the total collections of the film to over 100cr net box office mark, depending where actuals lend. The film has taken around 10 days to cross the 100cr net box office mark which is one of the slowest Salman Khan starrers. The 100cr net box office mark is not a benchmark anymore. This is the 16th film of Salman Khan which crossed 100cr net box office collections and all 16 films were consecutive which makes this achievement even more enviable. ## The film is still not a hit film as it needed to cross 150cr net box office collections for hit status at the box office but the film is looking to finish around 115-120cr net box office collections in the best-case scenario. If the film can touch this number then it will be an average success at the box office.
