Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' Sets IMAX Release

Chennai, July 5 - Legendary Kamal Haasan's vigilante action film Indian 2 gearing up to hit the worldwide theatres on July 12 as one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year. Directed by S. Shankar, it is the sequel to his 1996 film Indian. ## As the release date of Indian 2 is getting nearer, the makers have also confirmed the IMAX release with the regular format, taking the action and intensity to a whole new level. It is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. ## In the movie, Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption as he returns from Hong Kong to aid Chitra Varadharajan, who has been exposing corrupt politicians in the country through videos on the internet. ## Scheduled to release on July 12, the movie also stars Siddharth, S. J. Box Office: 'Kalki 2898 AD' Second Thursday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 4 - Kalki 2898 AD ends the extended first week on a high with another double-digit collection in the Hindi version with a drop of just around 10% from yesterday which is a very good hold to go into the second week. ## On its second Thursday (8th day), Kalki 2898 AD scored an estimated 10+ crores net collection which can go up to 11 crores depending on the single screens. The total collection after the 8-day extended week is 162+ crores net in Hindi. ## Kalki 2898 AD will be eyeing 40+ crores net collection in the second weekend to take the total past 200 crores net mark and then, it will depend on how it performs during the weekdays and once Sarfira and Indian 2 arrive on July 12 in its pursuit to reach 300 crores mark. ## If there was some drop in the Hindi collection, Kalki made it up with the Telugu version which sees a jump today as all version estimate suggests the collection is more or less similar to yesterday with around 26.50 crores gross, pushing the total cume to around 494 crores gross domestically. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, July 4 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Tamil director Sudha Kongara teamed up for the first time for the drama film Sarfira which is the remake of Kongara's Soorarai Pottru with Suriya in the lead role. ## Sarfira, produced by Abundantia Entertainment, 2D Entertainment, and Cape Of Good Films, completed censorship formalities today (July 4) and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the movie a clean 'U' certificate with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 35 minutes (155 minutes). ## Sarfira follows a man who sets out to make affordable airlines for low-income people, which several enemies try to impede. Akshay Kumar plays the lead role along with Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal who also featured in the original movie while Suriya has played a special appearance in the movie.## The movie was originally scheduled to be released in September 2023 before the makers postponed it to February 2024, from which it was again moved and now, it is finally hitting the big screens on July 12. Director Shankar Reveals Plans For His Next Films After 'Indian 2' And 'Game Changer'

Mumbai, July 4 - Maverick filmmaker S. Shankar is currently busy with the promotional activities of vigilante action film Indian 2 which reunites him with legendary Kamal Haasan after Indian (1996). The movie will be released in two parts with Indian 2 scheduled to hit screens on July 12. ## After Indian 2 release, Shankar will wrap Ram Charan-fronted political action drama Game Changer which has been in production for a long time. It is likely to be released around Diwali this year. Now, the filmmaker has shared some ideas that he has been working on and will focus on them after the current assignments. ## During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, director Shankar revealed that he has been working on a couple of films, including sci-fi, a historical and spy action thriller. "I have 2-3 ideas - one is a historical film, and the other is like a James Bond film - not exactly James Bond, but I'm using the term for categorization. Also, there's a science fiction idea, similar to 2012". ## The filmmaker, however, admitted that all the aforementioned films he is working on are high-budget projects and would demand a lot of VFX. "So definitely those films will bring the technology that it demands. I will go through all the new technology that it requires and I will use that", he added.## Meanwhile, Shankar's last directorial flick was sci-fi actioner, 2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the leading roles. Mumbai, July 3 - Kalki 2898 AD finishes the first week (7 days) with 150+ crores net collection in Hindi, making it the biggest of the year for an Indian film after the solid first Wednesday at the box office with a drop of under 20% from Tuesday. ## As per the early estimates, the Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic scored 11-12 crores net collection on its 7th day, dropping around 15% from yesterday which is a regular drop. This has taken the total collection of the movie to around 152 crores with the full first week headed for around 162 crores in Hindi. ## As reported yesterday, the weekday trend of Kalki 2898 AD is almost similar to RRR and it might end up scoring more than SS Rajamouli's directorial in the long run due to not much competition for the first two weeks from the Bollywood movies. ## Including Hindi, all the versions of Kalki 2898 AD are showing a drop of around 15% for an estimated 27+ crores gross collection on its first Wednesday. Mumbai, July 3 - Lionsgate studio has set the official release for the third instalment of its magic-themed heist film franchise Now You See Me, directed by Ruben Fleischer. ## Starring Jesse Eisenberg, the threequel will be released on November 14, 2025. The development of Now You See Me 3 was first confirmed in April 2020 when Lionsgate brought on screenwriter Warren Singer to pen the script to add a fresh take to the story. ## The plot details of the movie have been kept under wraps but the movie reintroduces audiences to the thieving illusionists known as the Four Horseman with Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Morgan Freeman returning to reprise their roles, with Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, and Rosamund Pike among those aboard for new roles. ## The first movie of the franchise was released in 2013 and went on to gross over $350 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $75 million. Hyderabad, July 3 - Pan India superstar Prabhas, currently basking on the mega box office success of Kalki 2898 AD, is set to start the sequel of last year's success Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel amid the rumours of it getting shelved. ## Salaar Part 1 was one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2023 and the makers planned to commence the shoot of Salar Part 2 sooner than later to complete the story. The movie was supposed to go on floors by June this year but now, it will roll out in August. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, the 20% shoot of Salaar 2 is already completed and the makers will resume it on August 10 with a 15-day schedule at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. It is said that plans to resume the filming in June were delayed due to weather and date issues. ## Prashanth Neel, meanwhile also has Jr. NTR's Dragon and the report says that the filmmaker will juggle between the shoots of the two movies. Salaar 2 will be shot for over 8 months with Dragon in 2024 and 2025, starting from August this year. The makers are planning to release the sequel by the end of 2025. ## Salaar Part 1 was released in December last year and went to gross around 618 crores at the worldwide box office. 'Kalki 2898 AD' Tops 2 Crore Footfalls; First Indian Movie of 2024 To Do So

Hyderabad, July 3 - Amid the box office carnage, sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has crossed 20 million (2 crores) footfalls in India in all languages, becoming the first Indian movie of the year to do so, beating fellow industry title, Hanuman. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has scored an estimated 2.02 crores of footfalls in just 6 days in all versions. The Telugu version is leading approximately 1 crore admissions, followed by Hindi with 75 lakh. The rest of the versions have sold approximately 28 lakh tickets so far. ## In 2024, only four Indian films have sold more than 1 crore tickets in theatres and Kalki 2898 AD is the only one to make it double. The other movies to score 1+ crore footfalls are Hanuman (1.44 crore), Fighter (1.17 crore), and Manjummal Boys (1.16 crore).## The Prabhas-fronted blockbuster has been ruling the box office since day 1.
