Thalapathy Vijay's 'Varisu' Non-Theatrical Rights Sold At Massive Price

Chennai, September 12 - Thalapathy Vijay is the king of the box office and his films have always managed to do great collections irrespective of the critics' reviews. Thalapathy carries a huge loyal fan following that never disappoints the superstar whenever his film arrives. ## Thalapathy Vijay is currently shooting for his Tamil-Telugu bilingual film Varisu under the direction of Vamsi Paidipally. Needless to say, there is huge anticipation for this movie, not just among the fans but also among the film exhibitors and trade people.## Touted as an action drama film, "Varisu" makers have reportedly sold the non-theatrical rights of the movie and the reported price is approx. 120 crores. According to Telugu media reports, the digital rights have been bought by Amazon Prime Video for 60 crores, and the satellite rights were sold to Sun Network for about 50 crores. Directed by Mithran R Jawahar, the romantic comedy-drama film has become the first for Dhanush to achieve this box office milestone. ## "Thiruchitrambalam" scored a fantastic 50.45 crores in the opening week and continues to mint money in the second week as well, taking a total net collection to 65.47 crores after 12 days. The movie has been excellent in the international markets too, grossing approx. 23 crores, for worldwide cum total to approx. 101 crores. ## The film has overtaken Dhanush's Bollywood debut film "Raanjhanaa", which was previously the highest-grossing film of his career with approx. 94 crores worldwide. The movie was formally launched a couple of days ago with the Pooja ceremony, organized by the producers of the movie, UV Creations, and Studio Green. ## Meanwhile, the makers of "Suriya 42" released a video of the Pooja ceremony which officially confirmed Disha Patani as the female lead opposite the "Soorarai Pottru" star. There were speculations about Disha's role in the movie which have now been cleared after the makers officially revealed her name. ## "Suriya 42" is said to be a big Pan-Indian film that will be shot on a huge scale. The project is director Siva's dream outing, and he has been lining up this film over a long period of time. Devi Sri Prasad will be composing the music for the film. Chennai, August 25 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram's last theatrical film was "Kadaram Kondan" in 2019, and since then, he has had only one release in the form of "Mahaan", and it was direct to release via Amazon Prime Video in February this year. ## Chiyaan Vikram is now gearing up for his big screen comeback with the upcoming movie "Cobra", scheduled to release on August 31. It is not the only film of him releasing in theaters this year as filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, "Ponniyin Selvan: I", in which he is playing the role of a prince Aditya Karikalan, is also scheduled for September 30. ## While the aforementioned films are confirmed to release, if all goes well, the actor could have his third theatrical release this year. According to reports, Vikram's long-awaited "Dhruva Natchathiram" is progressing to release in December this year. The film has had its trouble in completing the shoot and finally, there is some movement regarding this one. ## It is said that after promotional work for Cobra and Ponniyin Selvan, Chiyaan Vikram will be shooting for the pending portions of "Dhruva Natchathiram" as the makers have decided to release it this year itself. The movie was initially announced with Suriya and Deepika Padukone in 2013, but months after the announcement, director Gautham Vasudev Menon shelved the project citing creative differences with the actor. ## The movie was later revived with Chiyaan Vikram coming on board to play the lead role.
