Scarlett Johansson Reportedly Asked Disney For $100M Due To Black Widow's Hybrid Release!

Los Angeles, September 9, 2021: Scarlett Johansson, who filed a lawsuit against Disney for releasing "Black Widow" on Disney+ on the same date as theaters, had reportedly asked Disney for $100 million compensation after the company changed their release plans of the superhero movie. ## According to The Wall Street Journal (via IGN India), Scarlett Johansson's team reportedly tried to negotiate a deal with Disney for the star to receive $100 million for the movie. "The calculation was based on what the star would receive in a hypothetical global box-office take of $1.2 billion", said the report. ## The estimated sum of $1.2 billion was based on Marvel Studios' past theatrical releases before the COVID-19 pandemic, plus Johansson's $20 million starting salary for her titular role in the movie. However, that negotiation didn't take off as Disney never made a counteroffer. ## A couple of weeks after "Black Widow" opened in theaters and on Disney+ on July 9, Johansson decided to sue Disney over the alleged breach of the contract, which reportedly assuring her that the movie would be released exclusively in theaters, in which her salary was mostly based on the film's box-office performance. ## Disney, however, later responded to Johansson's lawsuit, claiming that the company had "fully complied with Ms. Johansson's contract" and that Black Widow's simultaneous streaming release had actually "significantly enhanced" the star's ability to earn "additional compensation on top of the $20M" she received as her starting salary for Natasha Romanoff's solo outing. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 31, 2021: The star Indian actress, Deepika Padukone, is all set to mark her comeback in Hollywood after the 2017 release xXx: Return of Xander Cage. The actress will be starring an upcoming cross-cultural romantic comedy, which is being developed by STXfilms, a division of Eros STX Global Corporations. She will also be co-producing this venture under her Ka Productions banner. ## The announcement was made on Monday by STXFilms chairman Adam Fogelson. The studio is also in negotiations with Temple Hill Productions Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (the Twilight franchise, The Fault in Our Stars, "Love, Simon") to develop the film centered around Deepika. The filmmaker was speaking at theater owners' confab CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday (August 26) where he urged Hollywood Studios to commit to the big-screen experience. ## "I don't know why we are talking about taking [exclusive theatrical windows] away", Jenkins said (via THR). "One studio should plant a flag and make a huge commitment to the theatrical experience and the filmmakers will go there".## Jenkins also talked about the Warner Bros. decision to release Wonder Woman 1984 simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max last year, admitting that at the time it was "the best choice of a bunch of very bad choices.
