Mumbai, February 1 - Indian films have started well at the box office in 2024 as three of them are among the top 10 highest-grossing titles worldwide this year so far.## Director Prasanth Varma's superhero film Hanuman emerged as a huge blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of around 265 crores in 20 days. In India, the movie has minted approximately 210 crores while the overseas collection is around 55 crores so far. ## Hanuman is the 5th highest-grossing film globally in 2024 in January, followed by Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. The Siddharth Anand's directorial aerial action thriller was one of the most-awaited films, however, it has underperformed given its size and scale. ## In its first week (7 days), Fighter grossed approximately 241 crores worldwide, including 169 crores domestically and an estimated 72 crores at the overseas box office. It is the 7th highest-grossing film worldwide of 2024 so far. ## Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama Guntur Kaaram is another Indian film in the global top 10 in January 2024. Mumbai, February 1 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and director Siddharth Anand's Fighter has a decent opening week at the domestic box office. The movie did well in urban centres, however, it failed to repeat the same in mass areas despite positive reviews and word of mouth. ## Also starring Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, Fighter scored approximately 140.75 crores net collection in the first week (7 days). The movie was a Thursday release and it scored 118.50 crores net during the Republic Day weekend which was good. ## Fighter had a big drop of over 70% on Monday which raised doubts over the film's longevity at the box office, however, after that heavy drop, the movie is showing a better trend as it didn't drop drastically after that. Though the movie may struggle to score a big jump in the second weekend it is still in the race to top 200 crores net. ## The collection of 140.50 crores net makes Fighter the third biggest first-week grosser for a Hrithik Roshan-starrer after War and Krrish 3 (first 7 days). ## 1. Mumbai, January 25 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's action drama Animal, which marked the duo's maiden collaboration, has started playing on Netflix, but not before setting new box office benchmarks for Indian cinema.## Animal was released on December 1, 2023, and instantly caught the moviegoers' attention despite the criticism from a section of society for the subject of the movie. The movie was censored with adult adult-only certificate and despite age restrictions, it opened to historic numbers at the box office by taking the opening of 76 crores gross (63.80 crores net) in India. ## The opening of the film was just a trailer for what was coming next as it went on the score over 200 crores net (240+ crores gross) in the 3-day opening weekend and 337+ crores net (402 crores gross) in the first full week. The adult-rated action drama opened to historic numbers and became the first film to score 50+ crores net collection on three consecutive days, and went on to score over 300 crores net in the first weekend in Hindi. ## The movie held superbly in the second week to score over 130 crores net in Hindi, followed by another solid hold in the third week. Bhool Bhulaiyaa is one of the first horror-comedy franchises of the modern era, and with a super successful history behind it, BB3 is the potential blockbuster on the cards at the box office. Raid 2 - Inspired by real-life events, the sequel to Ajay Devgn-fronted drama thriller was recently announced amid huge anticipation. The original film, based on the real-life income-tax raid conducted by the officers of the Income Tax Department on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s, was a big hit at the box office and the expectations will be double from its sequel this time around. The filming has already commenced for the November release. ## 7. Indian 2 - Legendary Kamal Haasan reunited with visionary director S Shankar for the sequel to their vigilante action film, Indian. It is shaping up to be one of the keenly-awaited films from Tamil cinema. Reports suggest it will be split into two parts and both of them will be released in 2024. Indian 2 will reportedly be released in April or May 2024 in multiple languages.## 8. L2: Empuraan - If there is one Malayalam film that can go Pan India, that is superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan which is the sequel to one of the all-time biggest blockbusters of Malayalam cinema, Lucifer (2019).
