Mumbai, August 21 - National Award-winning actress and filmmaker, Kangana Ranaut has decided to sue Filmfare magazine after she got nominated for the Best Actress category for "Thalaivii". Kangana has a long history of controversies and is known for making bold statements. ## On Sunday (August 21), the "Queen" actress took to Instagram stories and announced that she is going to sue the magazine. The actress claimed that Filmfare wants her to give the award for "Thalaivii", despite knowing that she has boycotted the Filmfare awards since 2014. ## "I've banned unethical, corrupt, and totally unfair practices like @filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting many calls from them for attending their award function this year as they want to give me an award for Thalaivii... I am shocked to know that they are still nominating me. It is beneath my dignity, work ethics, and value system to encourage such corrupt practices in any way, that is why I have decided to sue @filmfare ... thanks", she wrote. ## In this year's Filmfare awards, Kangana's "Thalaivii" has been nominated in five categories, including the Best Actress award. The actress has often spoken out against local awards for allegedly not honoring real talent. ## Earlier, Kangana also did the same for the Oscars and Emmys when they did not pay In Memorium tributes to legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar and had said, "We must take strong stands against any local awards who claim to be international and yet ignore and intentionally sideline legendary artists because of their race or ideologies... both Oscar and Grammy failed to give tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Ji... our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global awards". ## On the work front, the actress is currently working on his directorial venture "Emergency", in which she is also featured in the lead role, playing former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Mumbai, August 21 - Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri said that the reason behind Bollywood's rejection is its arrogance. The "The Kashmir Files" director was speaking in response to director Anurag Kashyap's remark on his film during a recent interview in which he said that TKF shouldn't be chosen for India's official entry for Oscars 2022. ## The selection for India's Oscars entry is made by the Film Federation of India (FFI), the apex body of film producers, distributors, exhibitors, and studio owners, and since 1957, when Mehboob Khan's 'Mother India' lost by just a vote, all of two Indian films - Mira Nair's "Salaam Bombay" (1988) and the Aamir Khan-starrer "Lagaan" (2001) have made it to the Oscar nominations shortlist.## It is possible that "The Kashmir Files" may not be picked as India's entry but Vivek Agnihotri has reasons to feel offended by Kashyap's remark. "Bollywood is suffering today because you are trying to pass on your own failure to an individual because his films work", he said. ## "Go to any middle-class, urban, semi-urban household and interview them and you will find how people hate the arrogance, glossy lifestyle, and the disconnect of Bollywood with real-life audiences".## Agnihotri said that people have seen through "all this hypocrisy, arrogance, and this flashy, flamboyant lifestyle, paid organized publicity campaigns... and now they are not willing to accept it, which is a good thing, which has made Bollywood rethink the ideology they follow".## "They are still running a campaign against 'The Kashmir Files' Oscars submission. So, they are experts on this. It is a serious topic and I take it very seriously. If people are boycotting their films it is because of the anger of the audience. There is a disconnect between the Indian middle class and the producers and stars because of their arrogance".## Referring specifically to Anurag Kashyap, Agnihotri said, "I will tell you why I have tweeted on Anurag Kashyap's comment. Since the resumption of cinemas post-pandemic, things have taken a drastic change most Bollywood films have failed to create the same magic as it was before the pandemic. ## Akshay Kumar too has released five films in theaters in the last 8-9 months but only "Sooryavanshi" turned out to be a box office hit while the other four films have failed to keep up with the reputation Akshay carries at the box office. However, unlike many others, Khiladi Kumar is not hesitating in accepting where he is going wrong. ## During the trailer launch event of his upcoming film "Cuttputlli" on Saturday (August 20), the actor opened up about his movies not working well at the box office. Speaking to the media, the actor said, "Films are not working, it's our fault. It is my fault. I have to make the changes. I have to make what the audience wants. I want to dismantle my way and make the way, what kind of film I should do. So, nobody else to blame, but it is me who has to make changes according to what my audience wants". ## While answering a question about whether OTT is a safe platform for movies at present times, Akshay said that there is no safe place for a bad movie. Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha And Raksha Bandhan Collect Below 100 Crores Combined In The First Week

Mumbai, August 19 - Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar's Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, respectively have completed an extended opening week at the box office and numbers are something that industry had never thought about. ## The combined collection of both the films is around 90 crores net, which is not even close to what trade had predicated before the release. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", which is the remake of the Hollywood classic hit "Forrest Gump", has been a bigger disappointment as its first-week collection (~ 50 cr) couldn't even cross the opening day numbers of Aamir Khan's last film "Thugs of Hindostan" which scored 50.75 crores net in 2018. ## Directed by Advait Chandan, the overseas collection of the film is somehow respectable with close to 50 crores gross (not final) but the domestic box office is forgettable, to say the least. The negativity around the film before its release also played a massive role in its disastrous fate even though the reception for the film was mixed. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted "Raksha Bandhan" too couldn't get going despite the positive word of mouth. The stakes for the film were low but it still performed underwhelmingly, especially knowing the fact that it has a perfect holiday period to outshine the underfire LSC. As a result, RB scored approx. 39 crores net while the overseas collection is approx. 8 crores, for the worldwide gross total of the film at 54 crores after 8 days. ## The Bollywood industry has now pinned its hopes on the next big release, which is director Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus "Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva". Scheduled for September 9 in multiple languages, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy along with the cameos of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 19 - Amazon Prime Video is all set to launch its biggest series yet The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, scheduled for September 2. The series had its premiere in Mumbai on Tuesday as the entire cast of it was present. ## Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan attended the premiere and also interacted with the LOTR cast at the event organized by Prime Video. During his interaction with the star cast of the series, Hrithik revealed that it was the "Lord of The Rings" trilogy that inspired his father Rakesh Roshan to make India's original sci-fi superhero film series "Krrish". ## "He was talking about the way they've used this one great incredible idea and then had this progression which was so incredible and [asked] 'why can't we do that?'", said Roshan.## "He said 'why can't we take 'Koi... Mil Gaya' - which is one of our previous films - 'and have a progression and build on that' - and that was the birth of 'Krrish'", Roshan revealed. "If there was no 'Lord of the Rings', there'd be no 'Krrish'".## "Krrish" is India's first superhero film franchise and there have already been three films in it. "Krrish 4" is currently in the scripting stage and is likely to go on floors by the end of the next year. Meanwhile, the audience is also eagerly waiting for the next film in the Golmaal series for a long time and the filmmaker has an update for the same. ## Before the cop franchise, it was the Golmaal series that gave Rohit Shetty a blockbuster status and he said that he will keep making Golmaal films till the time he is making films.
