T-Series & Reliance Entertainment Collaborate To Produce A Slate Of Films Worth Over INR 1000 Crores

Mumbai, September 13, 2021: In a big development, two of India's biggest production houses, T-Series and Reliance Entertainment have joined hands to produce a slate of films over the next 2-3 years. During this period, the two companies will jointly produce more than 10 films across different genres that include big-budget tentpoles as well as mid and small-budget content-rich films. ## The two studios have worked together on the music marketing front for more than 100 films. And now, they will jointly be venturing into film production and will be investing over INR 1000 crores over the course of the next 24 to 36 months. ## The extensive line-up of films is in various stages of development which includes Hindi remakes of Tamil blockbuster drama and action thrillers, a mega historic biopic, espionage thriller, courtroom drama, satire comedy, romance drama, and a film based on shocking true events, amongst others.## Given the pace of the developments, confirmed alignments with some of India’s biggest stars, four to five films will have a comfortable big-screen release worldwide, starting next year-2022. To give the audiences a larger-than-life experience, Reliance, and T-Series partnered with filmmakers like Pushkar and Gayatri, Vikramjit Singh, Mangesh Hadawale, Srijit Mukherji, and Sankalp Reddy. ## Bhushan Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, T-Series, said in a statement, "After working on music marketing together, this collaboration has happened at the right time and this will just strengthen our ties. Chennai, September 8, 2021: Earlier in July this year, Suriya starrer critically acclaimed and widely appreciated Tamil film, Soorarai Pottru was confirmed to be remade in Hindi. Suriya's 2D Entertainment joined hands with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment to produce the Hindi remake of this monster digital hit. ## Soon after the Hindi remake was announced, the movie hit a roadblock after Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment, who had co-produced the film in Tamil along with Suriya's 2D Entertainment, had approached the court and requested a stay on the film's remake. The judge had granted an injunction and advised both the team to find out a friendly solution. ## And now, nearly after two months, the case came up for hearing on Wednesday (September 8) and the Madras High Court vacated the injunction granted to Sikhya Entertainment. With this judgment, the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru gets clearance to go ahead and the makers can now resume work on this film. ## Sudha Kongara, who has directed the original film, will also direct the Hindi version of the film. It will be produced by Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Ent in association with Suriya's 2D Entertainment. Soorarai Pottru' was based on the life story of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. Suriya won praise for his role and won several awards. ## The makers have not revealed yet who will play Suriya’s role in the Hindi version. Directed by Kabir Khan, "83" has an ensemble cast including Punjabi singer-actor, Harrdy Sandhu, who will be seen portraying the role of former cricketer Madan Lal. ## Sandhu, who played cricket for over a decade as a fast bowler before an elbow injury forced him to give up this game in 2007, said that seeing the release of the movie getting delayed every few months impacts all. However, he stated that the team of "83" is ready to wait a little longer until the cinema returns to its regular capacity. ## "We've put in so much hard work and love into '83', and seeing its release delayed every few months does impact all of us but we also understand it's for the safety of our fans", Sandhu said in a chat with IANS on his 35th birthday. ## The singer-actor added, "We want our audience to enjoy every second of the movie and if we have to wait for it a little longer until operations return to their regular capacity, it doesn't upset us at all". ## "83" traces the story of India's first-ever cricket World Cup victory in 1983 under the leadership of former Indian captain Kapil Dev, played by Ranveer Singh. Despite getting delayed, Sandhu strongly believes that the film deserves a theatrical release, and only Reliance Entertainment and director Kabir Khan can give an exact release date. ## The movie was earlier scheduled for theatrical release on 10 April 2020 but was pushed to 25 December 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in November 2020, the film was again delayed to the first quarter of 2021 by makers seeing the worst occupancy report of audience towards theatres owing to the continuity of pandemic. ## It is jointly produced by Kabir Khan, Vishnuvardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone, and Sajid Nadiadwala and co-distributed by Reliance Entertainment.
