Warner Bros. 'Joker 2' Box Office Projection Revealed

Los Angeles, September 12 - Warner Bros. Pictures' sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller Joker is hitting theatres this October and it seems the hype is fading away after the recent screening where the movie received average reviews. ## As for the box office, the Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga-led Joker: Folie à Deux is tracking to open less than its predecessor at the domestic box office. According to Deadline, the blockbuster sequel is projected to open with $70 million - $80 million in its domestic (North America) opening weekend. ## If Joker 2 opens to the projected lines, it would be $26 million less than Joker which scored $96.2 million in the domestic weekend, as per Box Office Mojo. A couple of weeks ago, the movie was projected to open with $100+ million, which is now looking difficult, per the latest projection. ## Joker 2 currently has a 62% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, which, interestingly, is similar to the original movie after its Venice and TIFF premiere. So there is a possibility the sequel might follow the same path at the box office as well, but as of now, it looks a far cry. ## Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker was a monster hit for Warner Bros. with $1.08 billion at the worldwide box office, including $335.5 million domestically. The studio is hoping for a similar turnaround with the sequel as well. ## Set two years after the events of Joker (2019), Arthur Fleck, now a patient at Arkham State Hospital, falls in love with fellow inmate Lee. Jr. NTR's 'Devara: Part 1' Censor Certificate and Theatrical Runtime Revealed

Hyderabad, September 12 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's much-awaited action drama film Devara: Part 1 is set to be another lengthy film with a theatrical runtime of close to 3 hours. The movie is directed by Koratala Siva and also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in prominent roles. ## As the movie is gearing up for its grand release on September 27, the makers have completed the censor process more than two weeks before its big screen debut. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed the film with the 'U/A' certificate with an approved runtime of 178 minutes (2 hours and 58 minutes). ## It is said that the CBFC had asked makers to make some changes which led to 4 modifications, including 3 changes related to the violent scenes in the film. After the changes were made, the certificate was given to the makers for the September 27 release. ## Devara marks Jr. NTR's second film in a row to clock the theatrical runtime of nearly 3 hours. The actor's last film, RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli and co-starring Ram Charan, clocked a theatrical runtime of 3 hours and 2 minutes. ## Devara is directed by Koratala Siva and produced by NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts. Mumbai, September 12 - The fifth instalment of the blockbuster Housefull franchise is one of the most-awaited and biggest Bollywood films in the making. Akshay Kumar returns to headline this comic caper for the fifth time in a row and the movie is gearing up to commence filming on September 15 in London. ## As the movie is about to commence the shoot, the makers have locked the entire star cast which features over a dozen actors involving male and female leads. As reported earlier, the male cast of the film, led by Akshay, includes Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff, and Dinoo Morea among others. ## Now, according to the latest report by Pinkvilla, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and the team have locked in 5 female leads to complete the ensemble. It is said that Housefull 5 will star Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Chitrangada Singh, and Soundarya Sharma as the female leads. ## Most of the cast of Housefull 5 has been part of the franchise at some point in time with a couple of new faces who are expected to bring a laughter riot on the big screen. This is the biggest ensemble cast pulled off by the makers in the Indian cinema and the report states that every character is a part of the film for a reason. Underwhelming Viewership To Prabhas-Fronted 'Kalki 2898 AD' On Netflix

Mumbai, September 11 - Sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, starring Pan India superstar Prabhas, is one of the biggest hits of the year in the Hindi language. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie scored approximately 294 crores net collection in the dubbed version and is currently the second biggest of 2024. ## Kalki 2898 AD was sold to Netflix for the post-theatrical streaming of the Hindi version at a handsome price. Given the fantastic box office performance, it was expected to be a big success for the streamer, however, the response so far has been underwhelming as far as the Hindi version is concerned. ## The movie debuted on Netflix with a promising viewership of 4.5 million views in the opening weekend. However, due to mixed reception on OTT, the viewership dipped in the second week to 2.6 million views and in the third week, it was down to just 900K views which is lower than the third-week viewership of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1.6 million) which was a box office disaster.## The total views of the Kalki Hindi version on Netflix are 8 million after 17 days and it will probably be out of the top 10 chart by the next week, keeping it under 10 million views which is poor viewership for a movie that was reportedly sold for a whopping 175 crores in the dubbed version. ## The viewership of Kalki 2898 AD on Netflix is one of the lowest for a major blockbuster since the platform introduced the Top 10 chart.## Produced by C. Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies, the movie is inspired by Hindu scriptures and is the first instalment in a planned Kalki Cinematic Universe. Mumbai, September 11 - Ajay Devgn-fronted crime thriller Raid 2 has officially been postponed to February next year. The movie is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor in the prominent roles. ## Raid 2, which is the sequel to Raid (2018), will be hitting worldwide theaters on February 21, 2025. It was supposed to be released on November 15 this year but due to another film of Ajay scheduled to be released in November in the form of Singham Again, the makers have pushed Raid 2 back by nearly 4 months. ## Just like the first movie, Raid 2 is also based on true incidents. Ajay Devgn returns to reprise his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who tracks another white-collar crime. Riteish Deshmukh plays the antagonist role while Vaani is the female lead and both are the new addition to the cast. ## Raid 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak under the banners of T-Series and Panorama Studios. Chennai, September 10 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time has crossed 300 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, becoming the second movie of the actor to achieve the feat after last year's Leo. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT topped 300 crores worldwide gross after scoring approximately 22 crores gross on its 5th day for around 303 crores. With this, it has outgrossed the lifetime total of Bigil (295 crores) and Varisu (297.50 crores) to become Thalapathy Vijay's second-biggest grosser. ## The GOAT is performing very well at the home state, Tamil Nadu where it has so far grossed approximately 120 crores in 5 days. The rest of the domestic market has been underwhelming with 58 crores gross, for 178 crores total India gross. ## Overseas, The GOAT is exceptional with approximately 125 crores gross collection which is the second highest for Vijay after Leo's 204 crores gross collection. Leo is also the biggest worldwide grosser of Vijay with approximately 606 crores gross. ## The GOAT is the 7th Tamil movie of all time to enter the 300 crores gross club, after 2.0, Leo, Jailer, Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 and Part 2, and Vikram. Los Angeles, September 10 - Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' much-anticipated Spider-Man 4 is officially in development and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton has been handed over duty to direct it, per The Hollywood Reporter.## Amid the speculation of who would take up the role to direct one of the biggest Hollywood films in the making, Cretton is set to lend the job. The filmmaker will bring fresh blood to this iteration of Spider-Man. Tom Holland will return to reprise his role as the web-slinger in the upcoming film. ## Destin Daniel Cretton will be the fourth director to direct a Spider-Man movie. Earlier, Jon Watts directed the previous three Holland-starring movies, while Marc Webb helmed the two Amazing Spider-Man movies that starred Andrew Garfield. Sam Raimi directed the trilogy that featured Tobey Maguire. ## The production of Spider-Man will commence in early 2025, and according to rumours, it will be released in July 2026, a couple of months after Avengers: Doomsday, which will be directed by the Russo Brothers. Chennai, September 9 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time sees a drop of around 60% on its first Monday, which is a working day from Sunday, which was expected due to mixed word of mouth and huge first-weekend collection. ## The drop could have been even bigger if not for the home state, Tamil Nadu where the movie remained solid by holding close to 50% collection on Sunday. According to the early estimates, The GOAT is expected to score in the range of 13-14 crores gross collection on its 5th day/first Monday in Tamil Nadu. ## The total collection of the film in Tamil Nadu is around 120 crores in 5 days. The stardom of Thalapathy Vijay on the home turf continues to attract the audience that is proving to be a lifeline for The GOAT which is otherwise a goner in the rest of the domestic market as overall estimates suggest around 16 crores gross (14 crores net) collection on Monday. ## After the first Monday, the total domestic collection of The GOAT is around 177 crores gross (151 crores net), per estimates. Chennai, September 9 - One of the biggest Tamil films of the year, Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time had a fantastic first-weekend collection in the home state, Tamil Nadu and overseas box office, however, the movie is not performing in other parts of the country. ## Other than Tamil Nadu, The GOAT has heavily underperformed in other states of India, especially in Telugu and Hindi states where it has grossed just around 23 crores of gross collection. The performance of the movie in Telugu states is shockingly poor as Thalapathy Vijay's previous few films did well there. ## While the audience outside Tamil Nadu is not loving the movie, director Venkat Prabhu has made a weird excuse for the film's failure in Telugu and Hindi. During a recent interaction, the filmmaker stated that due to the references to the IPL cricket team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the movie, it is not working in Telugu and Hindi. ## The rivalry of CSK with Sunriseres Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which has massive fan-following nationwide, is well known, and director Venkat Prabhu feels that because he supports CSK, the audience of Telugu and Tamil are staying away from watching the movie. ## This is a funny excuse by a seasoned filmmaker as the movie, unfortunately, is not resonating with audiences. Chennai, September 9 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time has become the 8th movie of the actor to cross 100 crores gross collection in the home state, Tamil Nadu after the excellent 4-day first weekend. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT scored approximately 106 crores gross in the state. It opened to a huge 29.50 crores gross in TN upon its Thursday release, followed by a fantastic hold on Friday with approximately 21.50 crores, while Saturday and Sunday collections were 27 and 28 crores gross, respectively. ## As said, it is Thalapathy Vijay's 8th 100 crores gross in Tamil Nadu. Mersel (2017) was the first film of Thalapathy to breach this milestone.
