Pathaan Outscores RRR To Become The Second Biggest Indian Grosser In North America

Los Angeles, February 10 - Shah Rukh Khan-fronted blockbuster "Pathaan" has become the second highest-grossing Indian film in North America, which is one of the biggest international movie markets for Indian titles. ## The spy action thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand, has grossed approx. $14.95 million (123 crores) in 16 days so far at the North American box office. It has outscored SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster "RRR" which has grossed $14.90 million and become the all-time second-biggest Indian and biggest Bollywood movie there. ## Rajamouli's "Baahubali The Conclusion" is currently the number one Indian title in North America with approx. $22 million. "Pathaan" will most likely finish around $17 million though it has a chance to beat "Baahubali 2" in admissions. ## Among the top 5 biggest Indian movies there, Aamir Khan's "Dangal" is at number 4 with approx. $12.40 million, followed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat" at 5 with approx. $12.17 million.## Meanwhile, the Yash Raj Films' production is nearing 900 crores at the global box office. Kolkata, February 10 - Bengali family drama film "Projapati" starring Dev and Mithun Chakraborty has completed 50 days in theaters with a blockbuster box office collection. ## Directed by Avijit Sen, "Projapati" was released on 23 December last year and received positive reviews from moviegoing audiences. The favorable response from audiences was clearly visible at the box office.## "Projapati" has had a very good first week with approx. 2.30 crores net collection. It carried the momentum into the second week which was higher with approx. 2.75 crores. It remained consistent throughout the next 5 weeks and crossed the 10 crores net mark, which is a no less feat for a Bengali title. ## Produced by Bengal Talkies and Dev Entertainment Ventures, "Projapoti" is already among the top Bengali grossers of all time. Mumbai, February 10 - It seems there is no easy way to get out of jail for Ajay Devgn-fronted "Maidaan". The long-awaited biographical sports drama film is getting difficulties in its release which has led to multiple delays over the last year or so. The movie was supposed to release in February this year, however, the makers recently announced its postponement to May 12, 2023, release. ## Now, according to the latest reports, the Amit Sharma-directed flick has been pushed again to June this year. Bollywood Hungama reports that "Maidaan" has been shifted to June 23 release, which is still a complex date to bring the film to the big screen. ## June 2023 is already flooded with two tentpole titles, "Jawan" (June 2) and "Adipurush" (June 16). The news about the postponement of "Maidaan" is not yet confirmed by the makers so it is possible that they stick to May 12 release which may give it a smooth run for 2-3 weeks compared to June where it will have to meet the bigger titles at the box office. ## Produced by Bayview Projects, and Zee Studios, "Maidaan" is based on the golden era of Indian football (1952–1962). Hyderabad, February 10 - Lady superstar Samantha Ruth Prabhu's long-awaited historical romantic drama film "Shaakuntalam" has been dealing with multiple delays as far as the release date is concerned. The movie being VFX heavy is taking longer than expected time in the post-production. ## Directed by Gunasekhar, "Shaakuntalam" is now confirmed to hit big screens worldwide on April 14, 2023, in multiple languages. Los Angeles, February 9 - Disney has confirmed that the sequels to its hugely successful animated franchises "Frozen", "Toy Story", and "Zootopia" are in early development. Disney will reveal details about the production soon. ## The two "Frozen" movies, released in 2013 and 2019, have combined grossed over $2.70 billion at the worldwide box office. "Frozen 2" grossed over $1.45 billion, and is currently the second highest-grossing animated movie, followed by "Frozen" ($1.28 billion) at number 3. ## "Toy Story" has had four films so far with a combined worldwide gross collection of close to $3 billion. "Toy Story 4" (2019) and "Toy Story 3" (2010) are the 6th and 7th highest-grossing animated films globally with $1.07 billion and $1.06 billion, respectively. ## "Zootopia", meanwhile, was released in 2016 and grossed approx. $1.04 billion worldwide. Mumbai, February 8 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan" is continuing with its blockbuster run at the box office and has crossed 850 crores gross worldwide. The movie has already broken several records for a Bollywood as well as an Indian movie at the domestic and overseas box office. ## Directed by Siddharth Anand, "Pathaan" is chasing history as far as the Hindi language collection is concerned. The movie, also starring John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, has already become the biggest Bollywood grosser domestically, beating "Dangal", and now, it has surpassed mighty "KGF: Chapter 2" to become the second biggest movie in the Hindi language. ## Until the third Wednesday (15 days), "Pathaan" minted 436.75 crores net in the original Hindi version, and has beaten "KGF 2" (435 crores) to become the second biggest Hindi grossrer of all-time. "Pathaan" is now behind SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali The Conclusion" which scored 510 crores net. ## "Pathaan" will get a free run till February 17 when Kartik Aaryan's "Shehzada" and Marvel Studios' "Ant-Man 3" will release. In these 9 days (before Feb. 17), the movie will target, at least, 50-60 crores net which will take its total collection to around 490 crores net before the two aforementioned films arrive. It will be a tough road ahead from there on but "Pathaan" will still have an outside chance to beat "Baahubali 2" which remains to see. ## Meanwhile, the YRF biggie has crossed 450 crores net in all versions with today's collection.
