Superstar Kamal Haasan Reunites With Legendary Mani Ratnam For His Next

Chennai, November 6 - The stalwarts of Indian cinema, Kamal Haasan and filmmaker Mani Ratnam first collaborated in 1987 for a gangster film "Nayakan", and now, after 35 years, the duo is joining hands for the second time for a mega project. ## Both Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are coming after delivering the biggest blockbusters of their careers, in the form of "Vikram" and "Ponniyin Selvan - 1", respectively and they feel that this is the right time for them to come together for the second film. ## Kamal Haasan took to Twitter and announced his 234th film which will be directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International and Ratnam's Madras Talkies and presented by Red Giant Movies. The music will be composed by Oscar winner A.R. Los Angeles, November 6 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's action thriller Top Gun: Maverick has concluded its historic and glorious run at the domestic (North America) box office with $716.6 million. ## The Joseph Kosinski-directed film was released on May 27 this year and played in theaters for 161 days, which is itself a massive achievement in the post-pandemic era. At the North American box office, it ended as the 5th highest-grossing film of all time and is only the 6th film ever to top $700 million. ## Overseas, the "Top Gun" sequel has grossed $769.10 million, as per the Box Office Mojo, helping the global gross total of the film to finish at $1.485 billion. It is the highest-grossing film in Tom Cruise's career, surpassing "Mission: Impossible — Fallout's" $791 million. ## The box office biz of "Top Gun 2" got boosted by strong positive word of mouth. As mentioned earlier, it is the top-rated movie of Cruise's career with 96% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes while moviegoers awarded the film with a coveted A+ CinemaScore.## Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film stars Tom Cruise as test pilot Maverick, alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Rohit Shetty Wishes To Replicate 'Sooryavanshi' Success With 'Cirkus'

Mumbai, November 5 - Maverick Bollywood filmmaker, Rohit Shetty's cop action drama film Sooryavanshi has completed 1 year of its release. The Akshay Kumar-starrer hit the screens on the occasion of Diwali 2021 on November 5. ## "Sooryavanshi" was the first major Bollywood release in more than 18 months and it revived the theatrical biz in Hindi. The film grossed approx. 295 crores gross worldwide, was the highest-grossing Bollywood and the second-highest Indian film of 2021. ## As the film completes 1 year, Rohit Shetty took to social media and reflects on the hardships he and the team faced due to the covid-19 pandemic. "In 2019, I took the biggest risk of my life by holding its release for two long years but thanks to all your love, the risk paid off!!", he wrote in an Instagram post.## "Sooryavanshi became the biggest box office hit of the year 2021 (that too at 50% occupancy) & the most-viewed film on Netflix!", he added.## Rohit Shetty further said that "Sooryavanshi" shall always be a special film for him and it helped the Hindi film industry on various fronts. "This film shall always be special for me! Not only because it helped revive the theatres all over India... But also because it received unlimited love & support from the audience, which truly made this tough battle worth fighting for!", he added.## Going forward, Rohit Shetty has "Cirkus" with Ranveer Singh. A Music Lebal Owing KGF Rights Files A Case Against Politician Rahul Gandhi And Others

Bengaluru, November 5 - The makers of the Yash-fronted "KGF" franchise have filed a case against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Srinate, and Jairam Ramesh for using KGF songs in their Bharat Jodo Yatra without getting permission, according to India Today report. ## The case has been filed by MRT Music, a Bengaluru-based music label, which owns the music rights to this blockbuster franchise. ## The Congress members have been accused of copyright infringement and in its complaint, the music company said it invested huge sums of money to acquire the rights of the songs of the South Indian super-hit film KGF 2 in Hindi.## According to MRT Music, the Congress has picked up songs from the movie without seeking its permission and has used them to create marketing videos for the Bharat Jodo Yatra featuring Rahul Gandhi. Mumbai, November 5 - The makers of Prabhas-fronted magnum opus Adipurush released the teaser of the film on October 2 with much enthusiasm only to get criticism from critics and audiences over its poor VFX. ## The makers did manage things by showing the teaser on the big screens and were able to make people change their minds, but other controversies around the characterization of Ramayana's character really pushed the makers back, but again, they somehow managed things by telling people about their vision. ## Directed by Om Raut, "Adipurush" is currently slated for January 12, 2023, release, but as per the recent reports, the makers were left with no choice but to postpone the film to the summer of 2023 as there are a number of big releases on Sankranthi festival and they don't want harm the film's box office potential. ## Now, according to LetsCinema, the real reason for postponing the film was indeed the criticism of VFX shots. The makers are reportedly under pressure to re-do the full VFX which will approximately cost Rs. 100 crores more. It will take a lot of time and thus, the film may not release in the summer of 2023 either. ## The film is produced by T-Series and Retrophiles and might now release in late 2023. On the occasion of his birthday, Yash Raj Films released the action-packed teaser of his upcoming movie "Pathaan" and also released his iconic blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge on limited screens. ## "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" is one of the most celebrated films in Indian cinema history and despite the fact that it was first released nearly 27 years ago in 1995, the film is still being played in Mumbai's iconic cinema, Maratha Mandir and has an immense recall value on television. ## Despite all the aforementioned factors, the film was re-released (limited) on November 2 with packed theaters and grossed approx. 30 lakh. Discovery under the new CEO David Zaslav seems to be in action mode and is looking to find ways to revive its most loved film franchises, and one of them is Harry Potter film series. ## David Zaslav said during an investor's call Thursday that the company is going to focus more on the franchise and he is keen to exploit the possibility of reviving the "Harry Potter" franchise if something can be worked out with author J.K. Rowling along with "Superman" movie which is already in development with Henry Cavill returning to play this iconic DC role. ## "We haven't had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven't done a Harry Potter in 15 years. The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros. ... over the past 25 years", Zaslav said according to The Hollywood Reporter.## He went on to note Warner Bros. still has the theatrical rights to "Lord of the Rings", and went back around to the idea of more Harry Potter, noting he'd like to see more. "If we can do something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward", he added.## Warner Bros. has released 8 Harry Potter films from 2001-2011 and those movies grossed over $7.7 billion at the global box office, making it one of the highest-grossing film franchises. Diwali 2022 Sees Underwhelming Result At The Bollywood Box Office

Mumbai, November 3 - The festival of light, Diwali is the biggest occasion for the Hindi film industry and it has always brought joy to the fraternity at the box office. This year, Bollywood has two big films in the form of Ram Setu, and Thank God and both were big enough to bring huge smiles to the faces of the film fraternity. ## Despite the hopes, the Bollywood industry was concerned with the way how things went throughout the year, especially on Holi and Eid festivals and their fear came alive with the underwhelming response to both "Ram Setu" and "Thank God". Despite the mixed to positive talks, both films didn't meet the high expectation. ## "Ram Setu", which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role, was a perfect outing for Diwali 2022 because of its action-adventure genre revolving around Ram Setu, and so was Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra's "Thank God". Both the movies failed to take big openings which made things difficult for them going forward and it looks like both will be wrapped up around 110 crores net, which is underwhelming.## Earlier, Eid 2022 too had lukewarm results with "Heropanti 2" and "Runway 34" as both films could only fetch approx. 60 crores net box office collection while Holi had Akshay Kumar's "Bachchhan Paandey", minting only approx. 51 crores net.
