Bengaluru, August 17 - The nominations for the 10th edition of the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA), scheduled to take place on 10th and 11th September in Bengaluru, have been announced on August 17. It will be the first time that Bengaluru will host the multi-language awards show. ## Allu Arjun's trend-setting action drama film, "Pushpa - The Rise" (Telugu) leads this year's SIIMA Awards with 12 nominations while Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Akhanda" (Telugu), Dhanush's "Karnan" (Tamil), Tovino Thomas' "Minnal Murali" (Malayalam), and Darshan's "Roberrt" (Kannada) have been nominated for 10 awards each. ## The SIIMA Awards are presented on two different days. Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Magnum Opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' To Become First Tamil Film To Release In IMAX

Chennai, August 17 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 is getting ready for the worldwide release on September 30.## The epic period action drama film will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages and it will become the first ever Tamil film to release in IMAX format also. The production house of the film, Lyca Productions has set a partnership with IMAX Corporation to bring this highly-anticipated film to IMAX screens in India and worldwide on September 30. ## Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's classic Tamil-language novel, "PS1" boasts a powerhouse cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Jayachitra, Rahman, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Lal, Parthiban and Riyaz Khan.## The movie, set in the 10th century, revolves around the early life of Chola Prince Arunmozhi Varman who was latterly known as the great Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola and was the most powerful king in South India at the time. The actress's latest dark-comedy, Darlings has been making all the right noise on the streamer since its launch on August 5. ## The Jasmeet K Reen-directed film scored one of the biggest opening weekend (Aug 5-7) for an Indian movie on Netflix though it fell short to beat, Gangubai Kathiawadi's opening weekend numbers. With the back up of mixed to positive reviews, Darlings lended at number 2 as the most-watched non-English film worldiwde in the week of August 8 - August 14. ## The movie, in its first full week, attracted 13.96 million viewing hours, pushing total viewing hours to 24.17 million views in 10 days. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the political action thriller film is the second highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Sukumaran also played an extended cameo in the film. ## The talks regarding the sequel have been in place since last year and things are now shaping up quickly. Sukumaran had revealed last year that the sequel was supposed to take place last year itself but they were forced to postpone due to the covid-19 pandemic. Mumbai, August 16 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan-fronted Laal Singh Chaddha has been underwhelming so far at the box office, and reports have claimed that the producers will bear heavy losses for the same. Meanwhile, Viacom 18 Studios has denied reports about distributors demanding compensation for the dismal performance of the film. ## The producers have claimed that "Laal Singh Chaddha" has no external distributors as the studio itself is distributing the film. "There are no external distributors. It's being distributed by Viacom18 Studios, and no money is lost in the first place. The film is still running in theaters both in India & internationally. This is baseless speculation", said Ajit Andhare, CEO of Viacom 18 Studios.## It is to be noted that Aamir Khan doesn't charge an upfront fee and normally relies on backend revenue. The budget of the film is not as much as reported in the media and according to the TOI, Laal Singh Chaddha will probably break even, once ancillary revenue is taken into account. ## An exhibitor from North India said, "Most studios don't sell their territories, it is always distributed directly. Even if we try asking for the rights, it is too expensive for us. And the reports of distributors asking for money in the case of Laal Singh Chaddha is baseless as the producers are only distributors of the film".## "Laal Singh Chaddha" is the official remake of Hollywood's hit Forrest Gump. Despite performing underwhelmingly so far, LSC has scored approx. 100 crores at the worldwide box office in 5 days. With a worldwide share collection of around 15 crores, the mythological mystery thriller has joined the likes of "Sita Ramam" and "Bimbisara" in delivering big at the box office for Telugu movies in the last two weeks. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has had trouble getting a wide release, which could have helped it to register bigger numbers at the box office. Los Angeles, August 16 - Hollywood actor Ezra Millar has issued an official statement following the recent controversies surrounding his life off-camera. "The Flash" revealed in the statement that he has been suffering complex mental health issues and seeking treatment for the same. ## In a statement provided to Variety by Miller's representative, the actor has apologized for his recent actions which led him to legal trouble and a series of abuse allegations over the last couple of years. ## "Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment", Miller says. "I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe, and productive stage in my life". ## Ezra Miller played the DC Comics character Barry Allen in 2017's "Justice League" and its 2021 counterpart, "Zack Snyder's Justice League", however, his off-screen behaviour, which allegendaly led him to assult people, overshedowed his comic-book character. ## Miller off-screen conducts has alarmed his friends and associates, as well as Warner Bros., which still has to find ways to release "The Flash" without any controvery.
