Mumbai, June 17 - Paramount/Skydance's Top Gun Maverick has become the top-grossing film of Tom Cruise's career at the worldwide box office, outshining his previous biggest movie "Mission: Impossible — Fallout" (2018). ## The sequel to 1986's pic made $806.3 million worldwide through Thursday (June 16). The numbers include $422.1 million domestically (North America) and $384.2 million at the worldwide box office, as per The Hollywood Reporter. This takes the movie past "Fallout" ($791 million) to become the number one movie for Hollywood superstar. ## "Top Gun 2" had already become the biggest domestic grosser of Cruise's career by crossing "War of the Worlds" ($243.3 million), and now it has topped worldwide score too. The movie has a shot to become the first $1 billion grosser for Cruise and it looks very much on track to reach the target. ## The box office biz of "Top Gun 2" got boosted by strong positive word of mouth. As mentioned earlier, it is the top-rated movie of Cruise's career with 97% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes while moviegoers awarded the film with a coveted A+ CinemaScore.## Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film stars Tom Cruise as test pilot Maverick, alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Mumbai, June 17 - The year 2022 belongs to South Indian cinema which has delivered the 3 biggest blockbusters of the year in the form of "KGF Chapter 2", "RRR", and "Vikram". These movies have not only performed extraordinarily at the box office but also were hailed critically. ## Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar also praised the highest Indian grosser of the year "KGF Chapter 2" but it seems he is not happy with critics' overwhelming response to it. The filmmaker in a recent interview said that had "KGF 2" been made in Bollywood, critics would have slammed it left, right, and center. ## "When I read the reviews of KGF, I'm like if we made this, we would be lynched. But here, everybody is like 'Oh it was a celebration, a party' and it was. I loved it. I loved it with all my heart. But I feel hum yeh banaate to? (If we had made this, then?)", he said. ## KGF Chapter 2 grossed approx. 1210 crores at the worldwide box office and is now the 3rd highest-grossing Indian movie of all time. In the dubbed Hindi version, this period action drama film made a whopping 435 crores net. Karan Johar added that Bollywood makers are not given the same liberty that filmmakers from the South industries often enjoy. ## "It's working both ways. I feel we are also not given any kind of leeway and then we are trying to be somebody else. So, we are all over the place. Chennai, June 17 - Kamal Haasan-fronted mega-blockbuster Vikram has completed two glorious weeks at the box office and is near 350 crores worldwide. The movie has had a memorable run so far at the box office, be it domestic or overseas. ## The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed action thriller film scored 61.10 crores gross in the second week, dropping 64% from the opening week. This takes the total domestic gross collection to 229.6 crores over two weeks. The second-week hold is remarkable considering "Vikram" being a Tamil movie as Tamil films tend to take a huge drop in the second week. ## The golden box office run of "Vikram" has put the movie on track to become the biggest grosser in Tamil Nadu. It has grossed a whopping 140 crores in the state in the first two weeks and is currently the third-highest-grossing film of all time in the state. It will cross Thalapathy Vijay's "Bigil", which scored approx. 142 crores in this Southern state of India. ## SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2 The Conclusion" is the highest-grossing movie in Tamil Nadu with 152.60 crores. "Vikram" is looking to reach there by the end of the 3rd week itself to become the new leader at the Tamil Nadu box office. ## Meanwhile, the Kamal Haasan/Vijay Sethupathi/Fahadh Faasil-starrer movie is racing towards 100 crores at the overseas box office.
