Hyderabad, March 26 - SS Rajamouli-directed "RRR" had a huge task in hand to perform on an opening day and it has not only performed successfully but also broked almost all the existing box office records for an Indian movie. The latest period action drama film got massively benefitted from the Telugu states governments' ticketing policy though. ## The movie was hugely hyped before the release and it justified the hype by proving to be a cinematic masterpiece. It has a direct competition with "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" (2017), which was also directed by SS Rajamouli. The historical action drama film had held the record of the biggest opening ever for an Indian movie at the worldwide box office, which has now been breached by "RRR" almost 5 years later. ## Comparing opening day biz of "RRR" and "Baahubali 2" - the latest movie has grossed 223 crores (new record) while BB2 minted 217 crores worldwide on the opening day. Domestically, "RRR" has scored 156 crores gross as compared to 153 crores of BB2 while overseas, the former has scored 67 crores against 65 crores of Prabhas-starrer. ## Thanks to the new policies, "RRR" also has an upper hand over "Baahubali 2" in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where Jr. NTR/Ram Charan film minted 102.50 crores while "Baahubali 2" had made way below but still good, 57 crores on the first day. However, in the Karnataka state, ATBB BB2 maintained its record of 19.50 crores against 14.50 crores of "RRR". In Tamil Nadu, "RRR" won the battle with a slight margin as it generated 10 crores against 9.25 crores of BB2.## "Baahubali 2" had grossed 1788 crores worldwide, in which, the Hindi collection was the biggest contributor with approx. 650 crores gross (India). This record is expected to remain unbeatable in the near future. "RRR" is unlikely to reach BB2's Hindi figure. In Hindi, BB2 had scored 52 crores gross on the first day while "RRR" could manage only 23.68 crores. Even in the Hindi belt, "RRR" is way behind BB2 on the first day as it scored only 25 crores as compared to 60.80 crores of BB2. ## Despite the advantage of higher ticket prices, one must admit that the "RRR" release has brought the Indian film industry to its strong feet. It had the biggest hurdle in the form of the covid-19 pandemic which was not the case with "Baahubali 2". Hyderabad, March 26 - When Prabhas-fronted "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" was released in 2017, it became the first Indian movie to score over 100 crores gross for all languages. 2 years later, another Prabhas movie in the form of "Saaho" did the same but couldn't break "Baahubali 2" record.## And now, after almost 5 years, director SS Rajamouli's "RRR" has breached the fortress of his own directorial "Baahubali 2", and become the highest-grossing Indian movie of all time at the domestic as well overseas box office on the first day. ## The period action drama film netted 130 crores* in India on Friday, breaking "Baahubali 2's" record of 121 crores. In Telugu, the film earned 101.2 crores net, again becoming the biggest movie in the languages on its opening day. Baahubali 2 had generated 58 crores in Telugu on day 1 while "Saaho" made 60.40 crores. ## In Hindi, "RRR" had a very good opening day, scoring approx. 19 crores net. It took a decent start in the morning shows but picked up towards the evening and night shows after highly positive word of mouth. The film was solid in tier 2 & 3 cities where is recorded houseful shows. ## State-wise, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were the top contributors with 102.5 crores gross, followed by Karnataka with 14.50 crores, Tamil Nadu with 10 crores, and Kerala with 4 crores. The rest of India including the Hindi belt generated 25 crores. ## Overseas, the film has had a record-breaking debut, grossing 67 crores. In the USA, "RRR" has taken the biggest opening for an Indian movie ever with $5.5 million (41.95 Cr.) on Friday, including Thursday previews of $3.3 million. The movie was strong in Australia as well and made $702K (4 Cr.) on the first day. Overall, the worldwide day 1 cume of "RRR" stands at 223 crores gross, beating "Baahubali 2" (218 cr.).## The epic period action drama film stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead roles. Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt play extended cameo appearances while Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris, and Shriya Saran feature in supporting roles. Bangalore, March 26 - One of the biggest Kannada production houses, Hombale Films, fronted by Vijay Kiragandur, is gearing up for its biggest release yet in the form of Yash-starrer "KGF: Chapter 2". The Pan-India film, which is expected to break many existing box office records, will be debuting in theaters worldwide on April 14 in multiple languages. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF 2" is the second part of the studios' hugely successful 2018's film that is currently the highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time with a worldwide cume of 238 crores. The sequel is carrying a lot of hype and buzz and is sure to take a mammoth opening, especially in the Hindi dubbed version. ## KGF is not the only Pan-India movie in the development under Hombale Films. The studios' "Salaar", fronted by superstar Prabhas is already in production and almost 30% shoot is completed. The Kannada-Telugu bilingual movie is being directed by Prashanth Neel, and there are strong reports that this movie will also be released in two parts. It will be released in multiple languages including Hindi and is touted to be as strong as KGF. ## Apart from the aforementioned movies, Hombale Films is working on two more Pan-India films, for which the official announcement will be made in the month of June. Vijay Kiragandur has confirmed the development of those films during a recent interview with Pinkvilla.## "We will be announcing two more Pan Indian films in the month of June. Salaar is our third and we will release it in five Indian languages", said the producer. ## Interestingly, Yash hasn't announced his next film after "KGF 2" yet, but he said to be reading multiple scripts before taking a final call on the film he would be working next. While this is a complete guess, I assume his next might be with Hombale Films again. Meanwhile, "KGF: Chapter 2" is the costliest film ever made in the Kannada film industry with a budget of around Rs. 100 crores. Bengaluru, March 24 - Superstar Prabhas will return to the action with Prashanth Neel-directed "Salaar". The Pan-India movie was announced in 2020 with a release date in April 2021, but the shoot of the film kept getting delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the arrival date.## Now, the producer of the film, Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, has provided some key updates regarding the shoot and tentative release date plans. The producer, in an interview with Pinkvilla, confirmed that the shoot of "Salaar" will resume in the month of May.## "We are shooting for about 30 percent of the film. Prabhas then got busy with the promotions of Radhe Shyam and Prashanth got tied up with the post-production of KGF 2. We resume shooting from the month of May", he said, adding that the entire shoot will be wrapped up by the end of this year. ## About the release date, Vijay said, "It will be a 2023 release. We intend to release it between the window of April to June". ## There has been a lot of speculation about the plot details of "Salaar" as many believe it will be in line with the "KGF" theme. However, the producer refused to provide any hint about its plot because of the strict interaction by director Neel. "There is a strict instruction from the director to not reveal the storyline, but working with Prabhas is a real pleasure", he added. ## It has been strongly reported that "Salaar" will be released in two-part like Yash-fronted "KGF", which is also produced by Hombale Films and directed by Neel. He also confirmed that director SS Rajamouli's father, KV Vijayendra Prasad would be returning to write the script after penning the original movie. ## Now, KV Vijayendra Prasad has provided further details about this anticipated film. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, the writer confirmed the development and said, "I had shared the story idea with Bhai (Salman Khan) sometime back and he liked it.
