Hyderabad, March 20 - S S Rajamouli's magnum opus, "RRR" is readying to smash big screens worldwide on March 25. The period action drama, starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, has been one of the most-awaited films for a long time now. It is seen as the potential highest-grosser of the year at the Indian box office.## Ahead of the massive worldwide release, "RRR" got a massive boost thanks to the hikes in ticket prices by the Telugu state governments. In the last one and a half years, Telugu movies have suffered a lot due to the low ticket prices but this won't be the case with "RRR", which will be released with maximum potential. ## Due to the massive hype and price hikes, "RRR" is on track to break the box office records. Mumbai, March 20 - Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi" has emerged as the first Bollywood hit of 2022. The biographical drama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was released on February 25 amid not so big hype but was able to take a good opening at the domestic box office. ## Gangubai Kathiwadi, which marks Alia Bhatt's first theatrical release since 2019's "Kalank", has become the actress's second-biggest domestic earning film of all time with a total net collection of approx. Rs. 126 crores. It is behind only "Gully Boy" (₹ 139.63 Cr), and this positive is unlikely to change. ## Made on a lavish budget, "Gangubai Kathiwadi" has had a very good first week with ₹ 68.93 crores net. It did very well to hold the ground strongly in the second week by dropping just 47% for ₹ 36.52 crores. During the 3rd week, the film faced stiff competition with "The Kashmir Files". Gangubai, however, did still manage to grab the audience's attention and earned ₹ 17.95 crores pushing the total domestic net to ₹ 123.29 crores after 3 weeks. ## Till the time GB finished its 3rd-week run, it crossed "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" (₹ 117.89 Cr) and reached number 3. Due to the release of "Bachchhan Paandey" on March 18, and the continuous juggernaut of "The Kashmir Files", the showcasing of "Gangubai Kathiwadi" was reduced to below 100 shows for the first time in Mumbai on the 4th weekend. ## While the showcasing of GB was reduced, it didn't down completely on the available shows. Los Angeles, March 20 - "The Kashmir Files" is on a rampage mode at the box office in India and overseas. It was released on March 11 worldwide and since then, there is no stopping this Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri-directed. ## TKF was released on just 650 screens on the first day in India. However, due to the heavy demand for tickets, the showcasing was increased to 4000 screens in no time. The same trend is being seen overseas, especially in the USA, where "The Kashmir Files" is attracting a lot of interest from the audience. ## Just like in India, "The Kashmir Files" had released with a low number of screens in the USA. On the first Friday, the movie had just 63 theaters and had grossed approx. $400K in the opening weekend and nearly $1 million in the first full week.## The film began the second weekend with a strong $400K on the second Friday after theaters were increased more than three times to 230 from the first Friday. It helped that film to grow to 400% on the second Friday vs opening day. In one of the recent media articles, it was reported that SSMB29 will also be a multistarrer just like "RRR".## During the media interaction today (March 19), Rajamouli has put all those rumours about the film's multi-star casting and said that there will be only one star in the film and that is Mahesh Babu. Mumbai, March 19 - Warner Bros.' one of the most talked-about films, "The Batman" debuted in the biggest movie market in the world, China, on March 18. ## With the Robert Pattinson-fronted superhero film ruling the worldwide box office, the studio had hoped for the same in China as well, but that was not the case this time. From the last few days, China is witnessing a sudden rise in the covid-19 cases, forcing the closure of some cinema halls. ## While it is true that Hollywood films have struggled at the box office of late in China, "The Batman" was still expected to take a decent to a good start. However, contrary to the huge expectations, the film opened to a worryingly slow start on Friday, grossing $3.7 million, as per Hollywood trade expert Luiz Fernando. ## The opening of "The Batman" in China is low compared to "A Quiet Place" ($3.9M), and "Free Guy" ($5.2M), which were released in 2021. The movie, however, did surpass "Avatar's" re-release last year with a $3.5M opening. "The Batman" also outscored Tom Holland's recently released "Uncharted" ($2M). ## China is one of the key markets for the "Batman" franchise. The previous Batman films have reasonably done well in China. Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" earned $53 million in 2012 while "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" scored $97 million in 2016. Even "Justice League", which was not received well by the critics, grossed $106 million in China in 2017. ## According to Variety, "The Batman" will struggle to even come close to these aforementioned films with the film is currently tracking an RMB215 million ($34 million) lifetime total in China. The film showed improvement on Saturday, but it is unlikely to make any change in the lifetime forcast. ## Keeping aside China, "The Batman" is going very well in other domestic and international markets. It has grossed $516 million after two weeks at the box office.
