Mumbai, January 29 - Last year, it was revealed that Marvel Studios' superhero film "Black Widow", which was released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ in the US, was the most pirated title of the year. It eventually cost Disney a whopping $600 million loss. ## Unsurprisingly, the superhero movies or shows, were the most pirated titles in 2021, as revealed earlier. However, the latest data reveals that it was not a superhero movie but "Godzilla vs. Kong" was the most pirated movie of 2021. It had a day-and-date release in theaters and on HBO Max in March 2021. ## According to a report released by tech firm Akamai in collaboration with MUSO, revealed that Warner Bros.' monster movie topped the list of most pirated movies of 2021, followed by Warner Bros.' "Zack Snyder's Justice League" and "Black Widow", respectively. ## The Top 10 most pirated movies of 2021 (January to September) are - 1. "Godzilla vs. Kong", 2. "Zack Snyder's Justice League", 3. After it was reportedly revealed that his upcoming magnum opus "Adipurush" is being planned as the widest release ever for an Indian film, his action-thriller "Salaar" is also being made on a massive scale with surprise elements. ## "Salaar", which marks Prabhas' maiden collaboration with KGF director Prashanth Neel is nearing its completion after being in production for a year now. The dark-themed actioner is said to be made on a bigger scale than KGF. That's not all, according to the latest reports, "Salaar" will also be released in two parts. ## Prashanth Neel seems to have decoded the success formula with the two-part release. The second part of Neel-directed "KGF", starring Yash, is getting some serious curiosity among the Pan India audiences, and it looks like he wants to follow that same formula with Prabhas-fronted. ## Since "Salaar" is in development for a long time now, there is a possibility that both the parts are being shot simultaneously. While there are no official words on the same yet, the two-part theory can not be ruled out, especially after the sudden buzz among the industry people on social media. ## "Salaar" was originally announced for April 14, 2022, release. Mumbai, January 29 - Ranveer Singh-fronted sports biopic, "83", which has a dismal show at the domestic box office so far, has received a much deserve appreciation at the international markets. ## The Kabir Khan-directed, which has been declared a box office flop at the Indian box office, becomes the highest-grossing Indian film at the overseas box office of a title released in 2021. It has so far grossed Rs. 63.11 crores outside India.## Akshay Kumar's domestic superhit "Sooryavanshi" is the second highest-grossing Indian film overseas with Rs. 62.2 crores. Interestingly, both "83" and "Sooryavanshi" were released by Reliance Entertainment worldwide. "Sooryavanshi", however, proved to be a major success of the company both at the domestic and overseas box office with Rs. 294 crores worldwide gross. ## "83" has so far grossed approx Rs. 190 crores, and it is largely saved by the overseas performance. Even though it is only the second Bollywood film of 2021 to cross Rs. 100 crores net mark at the domestic box office, one can not deny the fact that it performed way lower than expected. ## Talking about the overseas collection, Rajinikanth's Tamil hit "Annaatthe" is at number 3 with Rs. 47.7 crores, followed by Thalapathy Vijay's domestic Tamil blockbuster "Master" at number 4 with Rs. 45 crores. Mumbai, January 29 - Tamil superstar Suriya's biographical drama, "Soorarai Pottru", received wide acknowledgment through its digital premiere in 2020. Later, the movie was announced to be made in Hindi with Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment as producer. ## While it wasn't revealed who will step into the shoes of Suriya for the Hindi, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar along with Shahid Kapoor are the two names that were reportedly discussed to lead the Hindi remake, which will be directed by the original director Sudha Kongara. ## According to reports, it is now Akshay Kumar, who will be headlining this critically hailed subject inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath as described in his memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey. The reports say that Akshay Kumar has already given his nod to this film and signed the dotted lines recently. ## The original Tamil "Soorarai Pottru" struck the chord of audiences with its emotional and inspiring quotient. It is said that to maintain that heart-to-heart connection with North Indian audiences, the Hindi screenplay has been written brilliantly that will definitely appeal to the viewers. "Soorarai Pottru" left an everlasting impact on the audiences, and the Hindi makers are hoping to get the same love and appreciation as the original. ## It will also be the first time Suriya will collaborate with Akshay in any form. The shooting of the Hindi remake is expected to begin soon after Akshay's next "Selfiee", co-starring Emraan Hashmi with Dharma Productions, which will go on floors in February next month.## Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, will be busy throughout the year with back-to-back films lined to shoot this year. After "Selfiee" and "Soorarai Pottru" remake, he will shoot for his digital debut series "The End", followed by Ali Abbas Zafar's highly-awaited action-comedy film, tentatively titled "Bade Miyaan Chhote Miyaan". Tiger Shroff will join Akshay for the first time in this yet-to-be-announced film. Los Angeles, January 29 - As "Fast and Furious 10" is gearing up to kick start the shoot soon, Vin Diesel looks to have found his counterpart with whom his Dominic Torreto will go head to head in the two-part finale of this high octane actioner.## According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Aquaman" star Jason Momoa, in the first major casting for "F10", is set to lock horns with Vin Diesel, his role, however, is not confirmed yet. The actor is reportedly in final negotiations to join the ensemble cast in what is being called "Fast & Furious 10" as a working title. ## While the plot details are yet to be known, the THR report says that Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sung Kang are expected to rejoin the team with Justin Lin returning to direct. Vin Diesel and Lin are producing the film while Universal Pictures working as a distributor. ## Meanwhile, Vin Diesel wanted Dwayne Johnson to join him in the finale of this highly popular action film franchise in the world. Johnson, who appeared in the fifth through eighth films, as well as spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, however, refused to make a comeback over his feud with Diesel.## "Fast & Furious 10" is currently slated for May 19, 2023, release. Now, according to the latest reports, actress Tabu has been roped in to play the female lead. ## While the official announcement is yet to be made, Tabu is set to romance Thala Ajith on the big screen after 22 years. The duo was last seen as lead actors in the Tamil romantic film "Kandukondain Kandukondain", directed and co-written by Rajiv Menon. The film was based on Jane Austen's novel and it starred Mammootty, Aishwarya Rai, Srividya, and Raghuvaran in supporting roles. ## Tentatively titled #AK61, the movie will mark Tabu's return to Tamil cinema after 9 years. Mumbai, January 28 - Filmmaker James Gunn has once again introduced the Marvel fans to the reality that his currently in production "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" will be the last time we will see the familiar team together.## "This is the end for us, the last time people will see this team of Guardians", James Gunn told Deadline's Hero Nation about the franchise's conclusion with Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 due out on May 5, 2023.## James Gunn started his trilogy of "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014, which also marked his Marvel debut. The second film in the franchise was released in 2017 and now, he has returned to direct the 3rd installment based on Marvel Comics. The trilogy stars an ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe SaldaƱa, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, and Will Poulter.## Speaking about the 3rd installment, James Gunn said that it will be "big and dark", and will completely be different from what fans might be expecting it to be. "I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story. It stars John Cena as the title character, reprising his role from The Suicide Squad, with Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick also playing key roles.## As per the report, "Peacemaker" surpassed Netflix's hit fantasy series "The Witcher" and Disney+'s "Star Wars" show "The Book of Boba Fett" in demand. Interestingly, the total demand for the Max series grew by 39.2% in 2021 whereas Netflix originals in the same 12-month period grew only by 10.3%.## Going by the report of the business insider, HBO Max was the fastest-growing major streaming service in 2021 when it came to the demand share for originals, according to Parrot Analytics. Such has been a euphoria of this action thriller that even after the OTT premiere, it is minting in crores at the box office. ## Directed by Sukumar, the "Pushpa - The Rise" Hindi version can be described as a box office sensation. It is because even after five weeks, the movie is showing no sign of slowness at the box office. In fact, in the 6th week, it has beaten Bollywood biggies to top the single-day biz. ## On its 41st day (Republic Day), "Pushpa - The Rise" scored Rs. 1.55 crores in Hindi which is the highest for any Hindi film on a particular day. Vicky Kaushal's "Uri: The Surgical Strike" had netted Rs. 1 crore on its 41st day which was the biggest before Allu Arjun-starrer. ## "Pushpa - The Rise" finished the 6th week with an estimated Rs. 5.90 crores in Hindi. It is the 2nd biggest 6th week total for a Hindi movie ever after "Uri", which netted Rs. 11.57 crores. The Hindi version of the film dropped just 16% in the 6th week which is the remarkable hold of any film let alone the dubbed version. ## With theaters in Delhi having reopened again after a short shutdown and Mumbai is already holding super strong, "Pushpa - The Rise" will break into Rs. 100 crores club in its 7th week and will become the 4th dubbed Hindi version and 95th overall to achieve the feat. It currently stands at Rs. 97.44 crores after the 6th week. ## Overall, "Pushpa - The Rise" is racing towards Rs. 350 crores worldwide. It has so far grossed approx Rs. 302.5 crores in India and Rs. 35 crores overseas, total Rs. 337.5 crores at the worldwide box office. After the release of "Atrangi Re" on Disney Plus Hotstar, all eyes are on Akshay's next release "Prithviraj". ## "Prithviraj", which marks the Bollywood debut of former Miss World, Manushi Chhillar, was supposed to release in cinemas on January 21st, but the surge in covid-19 cases forced the makers to postpone the release for one more time. While the new release date is yet to finalize, the makers have reportedly completed the censorship formalities. ## According to reports, the much-anticipated historical action drama has gotten a U/A certificate from CBFC with a run time of 135 minutes (2 hours 15 minutes). It is among the shortest films in Akshay's career. The theatrical run time, however, is definitely is shorter than expected. ## For the comparison, normally films on historical figures do run for nearly 3 hours. Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed "Padmaavat" clocked in for 163 minutes while his "Bajirao Mastani" ran for 158 minutes. Kangana Ranaut's "Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi" did click 150 minutes.## "Prithviraj", which is directed by Padma Shri Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput king from the Chahamana dynasty.
