BCCI Announces India Squad For The First Two Tests Against England

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (January 19) announced the India squad for the first two home Tests against England. Captain Virat Kohli, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and fast bowler Ishant Sharma return to the 18-member India squad for the first two Tests which will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. ## Virat Kohli, who had flown back to Mumbai after the first Test against Australia to attend his first child's birth, will be returning to lead the side. Ishant Sharma, who has recovered from his side strain injury and is currently representing Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, will lead a four-pronged pace attack comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.## All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who recently lost his father, has got some good news as he has been named to the squad. After playing the white-ball leg Down Under, the 27-year-old was left out from the Test squad to work on his fitness and bowling long spells. ## Some of the prominent names to have missed out in the first two tests due to injuries are Ravindra Jadeja, Hanuma Vihari, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammad Shami are yet to attain full fitness. The only player dropped on the basis of performance is the 21-year-old opener, Prithvi Shaw. Amazon Prime Video's new web series, Tandav has lent in big trouble after an FIR against the makers of the series and the streaming platform for insulting Hindu gods, lodged in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The case was filed hours after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reportedly sought a response from Amazon Prime on a complaint filed by Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam.## The director, producer, and writer of the Saif Ali Khan-Dimple Kapadia starrer "Tandav" and Amazon's head of India Original Content have been accused in the case of promoting religious enmity and defiling a place of worship. The complaint has been filed at Lucknow's Hazratganj police station by a sub-inspector who is also posted there.## Soon after the case was registered, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's media adviser Shalabh Mani Tripathi shared a copy of it on Twitter on Monday, January 18. ## "There is no tolerance for playing with people's sentiments in Yogi Adityanath's Uttar Pradesh. A serious case has been registered against the entire team of Tandav, which is spreading hate in the guise of cheap web series. In the web series, the character of the person occupying the high post of India's Prime Minister has been shown in a very indecent manner... The series depicts lower and higher castes and scenes that insult women, and the intent... seems to be to hurt the religious feelings of one community and to spread conflict", the complaint reads.## Tandav is a political thriller series that is created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Apart from Saif Ali Khan, and Dimple Kapadia, the series also stars Sunil Grover, Kumud Misra, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Sarah Jane Dias, Gauahar Khan, Dino Morea, and others in key roles. Vijay Sethupathi To Feature In A Silent Hindi Film Titled 'Gandhi Talks'

After announcing his debut Hindi movie, Mumbaikar, Tamil superstar Vijay Sethuapthy has added one more film to his Hindi tally, and that too a silent movie. Helmed by director Kishor Pandurang Belekar and produced by Movie Mill Entertainment, the movie has been titled 'Gandhi Talks'.## Taking to Twitter, Vijay Sethupathy shared the first look of the movie and wrote, "At times Silence is so loud". On the occasion of my birthday. I am announcing my new film's poster. The last silent film in Bollywood was 'Pushpak' (the Hindi title of the original Kannada film, 'Pushpaka Vimana') in 1987. ## Talking about approaching the South superstar for the part, Kishor said to TOI, "This project has been close to my heart and when the actor playing the part relates to the idea and the emotional graph, it turns out to be a boon for the director. Every director looks for certain characteristics in his actions when he approaches them for a part".## "Initially, I was planning to cast a Bollywood actor, but when I extended my search to the regional cinema, I came across Vijay Sethupathi. I watched his impeccable performances in Tamil films and his acting prowess left me mesmerized. He is not only brilliant, but he is also a gutsy actor, who is not worried about his image or stardom. His acting skills, style statement, and vocal dynamism are stupendous and that's when I felt I have found my lead star. He is not only prodigious in his work, but also down-to-earth. I am really excited to work with Vijay, who understands my vision and approach towards the film. I want to start work on my dream project as soon as possible", he added. ## Vijay Sethupathi adds, "I have been experimenting with different characters throughout my career, and when this silent film came my way I knew I had to take up this challenge. Kishor sir has a fantastic story and script in place. I know this project will surely be an outstanding one. Bollywood actor, Shahid Kapoor is in top gear ever since he has tested the unpreceded success through, Kabir Singh. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga's romantic drama film has not only made Shahid a bankable star but has also paved a way for him to choose the big movies he deserves to star in. However, the line up of his future projects is not big in numbers but definitely massive in terms of scale. ## He will next be seen as a cricketer in Gowtham Tinnanuri's Jersey which is a Hindi remake of the Telugu movie of the same name starring Nani as a cricketer. The shoot of Jersey was wrapped in December last year. Apart from Jersey, he will begin shooting for Raj-DK's next Amazon Prime series that marks his digital debut. ## Now, according to reports, Shahid Kapoor has signed one more project which is loosely based on the Mahabharata's character, Karna. The magnum opus project is said to be directed by Bhaag Milkha Bhaag director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra while Ronnie Screwvala is on board to produce it. Shahid will play the role inspired by Karna - the spiritual son of Surya and a loyal friend of Duryodhana. ## According to a report in Peepingmoon.com, "Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has always wanted to make a film on Karna. It's a subject he has been toying with for a long time but couldn't give it a shape due to the budget and scale it requires. With Ronnie Screwvala coming on board as producer, and Shahid Kapoor leading the cast, Mehra is now all set to liven up his passion project".## Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will apparently get into the preparation for Karna after finishing the post-production work of his Farhan Akhtar and Mrunal Thakur starrer Toofan that's scheduled to release in theatres mid-this year. The shooting timelines for Karna haven't been locked yet but it's expected to go on floors towards the year-end. ## Meanwhile, Karna marks the second back to back Mahabharata adaptation for producer Ronnie Screwvala, after Vicky Kaushal's The Immortal Ashwatthama based on the warrior Ashwatthama, who played a crucial role in the war between Pandavas and Kauravas in Mahabharata. While The Immortal Ashwatthama is being made as a sci-fi superhero film with a futuristic setting, it's yet unclear whether Karna will be made as a mythological epic or will be its modern adaptation. ## Stay tuned...

The homogenous response to the Tamil movie, Master at the box office has given a much-needed hope to filmmakers of the big-budgeted movies to release them in theaters. While Telugu and Tamil movies have already started releasing in theaters post lockdown it is the biggest film industry in the country, Bollywood that is still in the waiting mode. ## However, the latest development happening in Bollywood is a sure sign of relief for the exhibitor sector as it might be the end of a long dry run for them. According to reports, Bollywood is finally gearing up to get back on track with a series of A-list movies releasing in theaters in the next couple of months. ## Also Read - Thalapathy Vijay's Master Hindi Remake Is In Making With Kabir Singh Producer## According to a report in Pinkvilla, the filmmakers have been communicated to the top national chains of India - PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, and Carnival about their movie release plans in which movies such as Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, 83, Radhe, Sardaar Udham Singh, Radhe Shyam, among others are prominant. ## Last year, Reliance Entertainment confirmed that they will release both Sooryavanshi and 83 before March-end. Now, it has been reported that Akshay Kumar starrer cop-drama, Sooryavanshi has been decided to release in theaters on the occasion of Holi while Ranveer Singh's 83 will be releasing 3 weeks after Rohit Shetty directorial. ## ICYDK, Akshay Kumar's spy-thriller, Bell Bottom has already been scheduled for a theatrical release on April 2, however, as per the latest development, the Ranjit M Tewari directorial will have to make way for Sooryavanshi as makers won't want to release both the movies in the time period of just a week. It means, Bell Bottom can only be released in June. Among the Pan India release, the makers of Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer, Radhe Shyam are eyeing the Bahubali 2 weekend in the last week of April. ## Kriti Sanon's Mimi, which is a remake of the Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhaychy! has been reported to lead a 19 a-list movie schedule between February and June. Other than the above-mentioned movies, "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui", "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2", "Sandeep Aur Pink Faraar", "Haseen Dilruba, "Bunty Aur Babli 2", "Sardaar Udham Singh", "Toofan", "Hungama 2", "Haathi Mere Saathi" (confirmed for 26 March), "Roohi Afzana", "Bad Boy", "Hurdang", "Raavan Leela", and "Shiddat", likely to release during this period of time. ## Stay tuned...
