Afghanistan completes series whitewash over Bangladesh

Rashid Khan, the number one T20 bowler successfully defend 9 runs in the last over as Afghanistan completes series whitewash over Bangladesh to beat them by 1-run in the 3rd and final T20I at Rajiv Gandhi international cricket stadium, Dehradun, Uttrakhand on Thursday, June 7.## It was a close encounter where both teams had their chance. Mushfiqur Rahim tried hard to take Bangladesh over the line. When 30 runs were needed in 12 balls, Rahim collected 21 runs in 19th over of Karim Janat where he hit five back to back boundaries to him But his effort was overshadowed by Rashid's brilliance who defend 9 runs in last over thanks to Shafiquallah Shafiq's brilliant effort on long on boundary to stop a certain boundary. Bangladesh could manage only 7 runs in last over and lost the match by a narrow margin of one run.## Earlier in this match, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Mohammad Shahzad and Usman Ghani gave a good start by adding 55 runs for the first wicket. However, Bangladesh bounced back strongly to dismiss both the openers in back to back overs. After that Afghan's captain, Stanikzai and Shamiullah Shenwari did well to take Afghanistan to 145 after 20 overs. Shenwari remained unbeaten on 33 off 28 balls while Stanikzai scored 27 off 17 balls.## Nazmul Islam and skipper Shakib Al Hasan bowled well and finished their spell with 2/18 and 1/16 respectively. Abu Jayad also bowled decently well and picked 2 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs.## In reply of 146, Bangladesh lost 3 early wickets in the first 6 overs on 35 runs. They received a huge blow when Skakib also got out in 9th over after scoring 10 runs. They were reduced to 53 for 4 after 8.3 overs. However, Rahim and Mahmudullah brought back Bangladesh in the game and added 84 runs off 64 balls before Rashid dismissed Rahim on the first ball of the last over. He scored 46 off 37 balls. Mahmudullah tried hard but could win for Bangladesh as they fell just short to the target. He scored 45 off 38 balls before run out on the last ball.## Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi, and Rashid Khan were the star again with the ball. Mujeeb conceded 25 runs in 4 overs and picked a wicket while Nabi and Rashid conceded 20 and 24 runs respectively in 4 overs each. Rashid also picked a wicket of Rahim.## Mushfiqur Rahim awarded Man Of The Match for his effort while Rashid received Man Of The Series for taking 8 wickets in 3 matches.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

All-around Afghanistan seal series

Afghanistan put up another dominating show to beat Bangladesh by 6-wickets in 2nd T20 at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium, Dehradun on June 5 and sealed the series by 2-0 with one more game to play. ## It was nothing but another Rashid Khan special whose 4 for 12 restricted Bangladesh to 134 for 8 before Samiullah Shenwari's 49 and Mohammad Nabi's unbeaten 31 off 15 balls sealed the deal for Afghanistan with 7 balls to spare.## It was a do or die match for Bangladesh as they already had lost the first match. In a must-win game, Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite Tamim Iqbal's 43 off 48 balls, Afghanistan's spinners didn't allow them to free their hand. Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular interval and therefore they could manage only 134 after 20 overs. Their few batsmen had started well but couldn't capitalize on big scores.## Rashid Khan again proved his worth and picked 4 wickets and conceded only 12 runs in 4 overs and awarded Man Of The Match in back to back games. He got a good company in Mohammad Nabi, who also bowled decently well and finished his spell with 4-0-19-2.## In reply, Mohammad Shahzad and Usman Ghani gave a good start to Afghanistan by adding 38 for the first wicket. However, Bangladesh kept things tight in the middle overs as Afghanistan could score only 56 in first 10 overs. When skipper Asghar Stanikzai got out, Afghanistan was 79 for 3 in 13.4 overs.## After wicket of Stanikzai, Mohammad Nabi came to the crease and blow pressure completely away with a blitzing cameo of 31 off 15 balls. When 20 runs were needed in 2 overs, it took only 5 balls for Nabi to get those runs. He hammered two sixes and two fours to Rubel Hossain in 19th over and finished the game with 7 balls to spare.## Nabi and Shenwari added 36 off 26 balls for the 4th wicket. Shenwari scored 49 off 41 balls and was the top scorer of this match. Mosaddek Hossain was the star bowler for Bangladesh. He conceded 21 runs in 3 overs and picked 2 wickets out of 4 were felled.## Third T20 will be played on 7th of June at the same venue. Bangladesh will look to gain some sort of respect while Afghanistan will want to whitewash their opponent.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

Virat need to be work hard to play against Anderson - Glenn McGrath

Former Australian fast bowler and one of the legends of the game, Glenn McGrath believes that James Anderson will have the upper hand against Virat Kohli when India will tour England in July. McGrath was talking to media in MRF pace foundation in Chennai. The legend has been a regular visitor in India since taking over as a director of MRF pace foundation in 2012.## He talked a lot about India's upcoming tour of England, the key factor for India in England, what Kohli need to do, Australia's ball-tampering scandal and more.## Here are some excerpts from his interview:## India will be playing a gruelling five-match Test series in England after the T20 and ODI series starting in July. Do you think they will be able to successfully adapt to the longer format?## A lot of it depends on the preparation time they have leading up to the Tests. You have got to adopt a lot quicker these days. Well, most guys have played in England before. Experience plays a big part in being able to adjust and adapt quicker. They have to rely on experience to take them through in England.## Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have been in good form in the last few months. Will they hold the key for India in English conditions?## Yes, I think Bhuvi and Bumrah will hold the key. Both of them have got pretty good control. That's what you need in England. The Duke ball has got a pronounced seam. If you get the ball in the right areas consistently, it will do a little bit throughout and they will do well.## Bumrah did very well in his debut Test series in South Africa earlier this year. Does he have to do anything different in English conditions to replicate his success?## I expect Bumrah to do well in England too simply because of the way he bowls. He has got a unique action, but he bowls lengths that are challenging for the batsmen. He will enjoy bowling with the Duke ball. I actually think all the Indian pacers will have success in England. It's just a question of the batsmen getting enough runs.## Kohli versus James Anderson is expected to be the defining battle during the Test series. Kohli struggled last time around, averaging just 13.40 in five Tests. How do you see that contest shaping up?## Obviously, Kohli is a more experienced player this time around. There's no doubt that he's a quality batsman, but English conditions are pretty tough. When you have got a bowler like James Anderson who knows the conditions so well, it's going to be a lot of hard work for Kohli. He has to be prepared to work hard. He can't just go out and play his game and hit through the line. He has to be able to adapt. I'm looking forward to the battle.## In relation to the ball-tampering episode, the Australian team of the 2000s received a lot of criticism, with people saying that this culture emanated from there. What are your thoughts having been a part of that side?## I disagree with that completely. It was just a way that other teams and media used to have a go at the Australian team because they couldn't have a go at us for playing badly or anything else. It always annoyed me. I have spoken to captains from other teams of that era, and they never felt that Australians were the worst sledgers.## Virat Kohli had a miserable tour of England back in 2014 when he could score only 134 runs in 10 innings. However, his ODI record has been very impressive in England. He has scored 682 runs in 19 innings with an average of 52.46. Virat Kohli will be keen to improve his test record this time around.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

I'm a leg spinner who bowls good wrong-uns - Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is yet to be turning 20 but his maturity level no less than an experienced bowler. He has already become Afghanistan's biggest match-winner in his short career so far. Sounds unusual but that's how I bowl," he tells you as you try to recover from the vicious wrong-one. He explains: "I don't use my wrist a lot in my bowling. I use my fingers as I deliver using the tip of my fingers. That helps me bowl quicker. I am a leg-spinner who bowls good wrong-uns." Rashid Khan is a self-taught bowler. She said that he was never taught by anyone how to bowl. However, he also things that situations will not same every time. There will be a time when he will go wicketless. But at the same time, that kind of situations will make him even stronger.## "Nobody taught me to bowl leg spin and the wrong-uns. I haven't watched and followed anyone in particular. I just observed Shahid Afridi and Anil Kumble. I don't remember the exact period but maybe it was five-six years ago. I still watch Kumble when I am free." Rashid gets emotional while talking about his family and country. He believes that his family had sacrificed a lot for his career. He hasn't seen his family since he went home after last year IPL.## "Last year when I went home after IPL, it was amazing. I really loved that moment when I entered my home and they started celebrating. Looking forward to some rest and hopefully, I can go home."## "My family is very supportive. I talk to them daily through social media. At least they are watching me and enjoying my game. This is just my initial stage. I need to focus on my cricket right now," he added.## Rashid's voice gets tad heavier while talking about his beloved country. He said,"I'm giving back my people my performing. It gives them Joy".## Rashid Khan will be a big threat for India along with Mujeeb Ur Rahman in one-off Test against them. On the other hand, it will historic day for Rashid and Afghanistan when they will play their first Test starting from June 14.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

Another feather in Rashid's hat

There is no stoppage in T20I for Rashid Khan. The Number One T20 bowler has become a serious match winner for Afghanistan. ## He added one more feather to his hat as he became second fastest bowler to reach 50 wickets after Sri Lanka's Ajanta Mendis. It took only 31 matches for him to reach 50 wickets.## "It was about keeping everything simple, what I've done in last two-three months. I don't have any specific plan. I keep it simple. Just to ball a little bit back of a length, not too full. I'm just enjoying myself, that is the key thing. It was a good surface, the ball was gripping, a little bit dew was there. We have just played IPL. That's is the biggest stage. If you perform well there, it gives the confidence," Rashid said after the match against Bangladesh.## Keep in mind, Rashid Khan was the star in Afghanistan's win over Bangladesh. Attitude matters more than skills in overseas conditions - Ajinkya Rahane

If someone asks Ajinkya Rahane which was your favourite Test knock, he will probably choose 48 runs that he had scored against South Africa in 3rd Test at the tough wicket of Wanders, Johannesburg. India had lost that series but won the 3rd test.## Ajinkya Rahane who will lead India in one-off Test against Afghanistan in the absence of the regular captain Virat Kohli talked about fitness, Johannesburg innings, Afghanistan Test and upcoming overseas challenge with TOI on Saturday, June 2.## Here are some excerpts from his interview given to TOI:## The last time you led India, it was an impressive outing. There's another opportunity coming up against Afghanistan## I'm looking forward to it. After the IPL, it's almost like a start of a season, so there is so much to look forward to. There are processes to be put in place on the personal front, responsibilities to be carried out (as captain in the one-off game)## That 48 you scored in Johannesburg (3rd Test), worth its weight in gold?## Two matches down in a three-match series and you get a wicket like that, you're up against the wall and the only way out is a fightback, it's how you react to the situation. Absolute positive intent alone begins to matter and that's exactly what helped us pull off that win. On a personal front, it was immensely satisfying.## That was quite a wicket## We knew the wicket wasn't an easy one but it was equal for both teams. If the wicket was going to make life difficult for us, then it going to do the same to South Africa. It was an equal opportunity contest and I thought we were phenomenal.## Tell us about that innings## It's great that I got an opportunity on a wicket like that one. I knew I was batting really well in the nets. I could feel it. Normally you do have an idea about your game but on a wicket like that, it's your guts that count. When the ball goes from right next to your helmet or even if you're sitting in the dressing room and watching your teammates bat in similar conditions, it's very easy for someone to start thinking a bit negatively. But in that Test, on that wicket, every batsman in the team was like 'ok, right now I want to go out there on that wicket in this kind of a situation'. That's exactly how even my mind was thinking too. Even a century in a different scenario would probably not give me the kind of joy that 48 did.## So, now it's all about carrying the Johannesburg mindset to England## Oh yes, it's the same intent, aggression and attitude that we'll be carrying to England. When you play overseas, it's that attitude which matters, more than your skills. Skill-wise, most cricketers are more or less similar. What probably adds notches to a team's overall performance is the intent with which you approach a game.## And a five-Test series gives more time in the overall contest## It gives you an opportunity to come back into the contest. South Africa is a classic example. The contest would've been completely a different one moving forward from the Wanderers Test. But a five-Test series has other challenges too. For example, it is important to remain fresh throughout the series. The start is always important but carrying that momentum till the very end is equally crucial. The mind should not get tired. That's the key.## Essentially, it's fitness that it all boils down to## That's paramount. As a professional athlete, you have to push yourself. Sometimes, your body says you're tired but your mind tells you something different. Then it's all about following your mind, talking to yourself, letting your mind tell your body to keep going. For the amount of cricket we play throughout the year, training sessions are vital. It's part of your life - you eat, drink, sleep, play, train. You can skip a practice session on an odd day but a training session is what you just can't miss.## And it has to be fun## The trick is to understand your body and in turn, it's about enjoying and having fun. Just the other day I did my yoyo and I was pretty happy with myself. But the challenge is in maintaining that and raising the bar.## Keep in mind, Ajinkya Rahane had captained India against Australia in Mohali Last year. And now he got another opportunity to lead his side as Virat Kohli ruled out from this match after got his neck injured.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading

Karthik named replacement as injured Saha ruled out for Afghanistan Test

Dinesh Karthik is all set to make his comeback in Test cricket after almost eight years. The regular wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out for the Afghanistan Test after he got injured in recently concluded IPL. ## BCCI confirmed on Saturday, June 2.## Keep in mind, Saha got injured against Kolkata Knight Riders in the second qualifier at Eden Gardens on 25th May. Since then he was closely monitoring by BCCI's medical team. ## But now he is advised to take rest ahead of crucial England tour where India have to play five test match series.## On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik rewarded his recently concluded IPL form where he had scored 498 runs in 16 matches for KKR. He last played a test match in 2010 against Bangladesh. ## He made his Test debut in 2004 against Australia at Wankhede Stadium. Since then he has played 23 Test and scored 1000 runs with one hundred and 7 half centuries.## Parthiv Patel was also in the race of Saha's replacement. He replaced Saha for the last two Test against South Africa earlier this year. But he could manage only 56 runs in those matches. His IPL form wasn't also up to the mark and resulted in, he failed to gain selectors trust.## Wriddhiman Saha becomes the second regular batsman after Virat Kohli who will miss Afghanistan Test. However, Kohli had already opted out himself from this match before he got his neck injury in IPL. ## He was keen to play in county cricket for Surrey that period but his injury forced him to miss county cricket as well as Afghanistan Test.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

I might not be fit for Afghanistan Test - Says Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha, who got injured while playing in the second qualifier, doesn't seem to be an optimist about his selection in a one-off Test match against Afghanistan. ## However, the BCCI hasn't named his replacement yet that means they wanted to give him enough time to recover before the match. The BCCI is keeping a close watch on Wriddhiman Saha's injury.## "The BCCI is keeping a track of my injury on a day-to-day basis. The decision lies with them," Saha said. To be honest, I might not be fit for that game. It's not in my hands," Saha said.## However, Saha is not clear about the situation whether he will be playing or not. "I don't know the exact situation, so I cannot comment on whether I would be taking part in the Afghanistan Test," he said on Thursday. "The BCCI doctor will have the final say," he added. ## The concerned doctor will examine afresh X-ray plate of the injured thumb before deciding whether Saha needs to undergo a surgery. "The doctor will take a call next week," he stated.## Keep in mind, Wriddhiman Saha got his thumb injured while batting in the second qualifier against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he kept playing further but didn't look comfortable in his whole innings. He also seemed to be in trouble while keeping.## Saha had a forgettable season of Indian Premier League. In the injury mered season, the right-hand wicketkeeper-batsman could score only 122 runs in 11 matches. But he believes that his T20 form will not affect his Test match form.## "I couldn't bat the way I wanted to in the IPL. But Test and T20 are different ball games. I hope to do well in the longer version," he remarked. ## "Every match is difficult. When you play at home, there is actually more pressure. Nobody expects us to lose a Test match at home," he said.## For more and latest news about Cricket, Stay tuned to us. ## Thanks for Reading!

Nothing is bigger than playing for India - KL Rahul

India, the number two ODI team after England, has always been lack of consistency at number 4 in the batting order. Despite being ruthless in ODIs, India will want to fill the number four slot before the World Cup. KL Rahul could be the one. Even though his place in ODI side has been uncertain but He is hopeful that his recently concluded IPL form, will help him cement his place in ODI side.## "My childhood dream is to play the World Cup and if the team management wants me to bat No 4, I am ready to do it because nothing is bigger than playing for India. I hope to continue with my recent form in ODIs too," Rahul told TOI on the sidelines of an event in Chandigarh.## Rahul, who had scored 659 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2018, said that he is ready for every challenge thrown to him. He is even ready to sacrifice his opening slot to give some solidity at number 4.## "Right now my aim is to score runs for my country and it doesn't matter if it is coming as an opener or in the middle order. As long as I am performing these things don't matter but the final decision is taken by the team management. If they want me to bat at No 4, then I am up for the challenge," said Rahul.## Mind you, India had tried as many 10 players at number 4 since 2015 world cup. But none of them could hold his place for the longer period.## KL Rahul is preparing for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. It will be a historic Test for Afghanistan as they will be playing their first ever Test match starting June 14. Afghanistan has included five spinners in their squad to challenge batting heavyweight India. When Rahul was asked about Afghanistan's spin-heavy squad, he said,## "No doubt they are a very talented squad with some really good spinners. That's their strength but we will play to our strength."## However, Rahul will have extra responsibility on his shoulders to provide a good start to India as Virat Kohli has opted out himself from this match.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.
